(57) A new dolly (26) can be used both for vacuum cleaners supported solely by casters
(28) and for vacuum cleaners partially supported by wheels (30). Caster sockets are
arranged generally vertically, in bosses near the perimeter of the dolly (26). Wheels
(30) are mounted on axle mounts that have sleeves that receive the bosses. Upright
walls extend outwardly from near the sleeve in a direction away from the axle hub
(110) and engage corresponding walls on the underside of the dolly, forming one spaced
support. Another spaced support has walls that extend outwardly from near the sleeve
in a direction away from the axle hub (110) and the first spaced support. These walls
also engage corresponding walls on the underside of the dolly. An accessory component
with molded upright walls is mounted onto the dolly, with those walls engaging corresponding
walls on the underside of the dolly. One fastener (160) seats against one fastener
surface on the accessory component, and extends into a hole in that fastener surface,
an aligned opening in the corresponding axle mount, and into the dolly (26). Another
fastener seats against another fastener surface on the accessory component, extends
into a hole in that fastener surface, an aligned opening in the corresponding axle
mount, and into the dolly.
