(57) Support apparatus for a road sign element, comprising a box-like casing (10) adapted to being driven into the ground in a basically vertical direction and in which the lower part of the road sign element (11) is inserted.
According to the invention, the upper end of the box-like casing (10) has an opening provided with a closing means (12) elastically strained, so as to close automatically when the road sign element is extracted from the box-like casing.
