[0001] The invention relates to an easy to repair roll shutter for frames, whose main parts
is a box with its side panels, its axis within the box, the guides and the rolling
part of the shutter. Additional parts needed for operation and movement are the pulleys,
the sliding pads, the bearings, the coils and moving mechanism (actuator).
[0002] The shutters for doors and windows are already known. Placed at the top of the window
and by placing them they offer us heat and sound insulation, shading and extra security.
[0003] Existing manual roll shutter works as follows: To move the sliding part of the roll
upwards and to gather it inside the case, the user simply pulls the belt drive of
the roll downwards and in order to close the shutter we simply doing it by releasing
the safety of rolling mechanism and the moving part of the roll descents down to the
desired point.
[0004] Technically, this can happen because during the manufacture of the roll we tie the
one end of the belt (the other is secured in the rolling mechanism) into a hole we
drill on the perimeter of the pulley which is located at the one tip of the shaft.
We rotate the shaft so that the belt to gather around it and then we stabilize the
rolling part of the roll on the shaft in the opposite direction from that of the belt.
The strap exits the box through an opening at the top of the box and to assist its
movement we place externally a coil, so the belt passes through this and ends in the
rolling mechanism where the secured its tip. Thus when we pull the belt is unwound
from the pulley thereby rotates the shaft and thereby causing the upward movement
in the rolling part of the roll. To download the shutters we just release the belt
from the safety of the rolling part, the roll is lowered by means of its weight and
the belt is wound again around the pulley and the shaft.
[0005] The construction of this roll has several disadvantages. These have to do with the
way that operates the roll, the damage caused because of this, the repair procedure
and the time wasting for repair.
[0006] One of the most frequent problems encountered, is the wear of the drive belt. For
the rapid wear, mainly responsible is the path that the belt follows, as well as the
high friction generated at certain crucial points. More specifically, the belt exiting
the box and the moment it passes through the coil, it forms orthogonal angle and thus
it suffers very high friction, which quickly leads the belt to wear.
[0007] The next important and very frequent problem faced by the repairman, is to replace
a broken belt. To change the belt in existing type of rollers, is needed - because
of their construction- to open the box of the shutter, disassembling components inside
the box, rotation of the pulley with the shaft until you find the hole, where you
must remove the old, damaged belt and install the new. A process, that requires a
lot of time and effort, which raises the cost of maintenance.
[0008] The advantage of this invention is to minimize the probability of damage to the belt
and even if this occurs, the replacement to be done without having to open the box
and the roll to be dismantled.
[0009] Firstly, the outlet aperture of the belt of the box of the shutter, in this invention,
is much greater and to cover it we use a new larger coil as well. In this way we achieve
a new exiting position of the belt, which creates a smaller bending angle when exiting
and so less friction and therefore less likelihood to get destroyed by the daily use.
An additional advantage of the greater area of box's aperture is that by just unscrewing
and removing the coil we have visual contact of the pulley and also enough space to
intervene and replace the belt without requiring the opening of the box of the shutter.
[0010] An additional help for easy replacement is also the second main feature of the invention,
which is a new kind of pulley mounted to the shaft. This has on its perimeter a multitude
of holes where the belt can be laced on. So by removing the coil, as mentioned above,
we have visual contact with the pulley and we can stabilize the new belt on the pulley
at any hole and we just cut the old one.

Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the easy repair roll with the new coil unscrewed
(11) while it is also evident the aperture (9) in the box.
Figure 3 shows a sectional view showing the path followed by the belt (12). Which
is starting from the pulley (6) passes through the coil (10) and the slot (11) and
ends at the actuator (13).
Figure 4 shows a perspective view, two side views and a section of the pulley (6)
with holes (7).
Figure 5 shows an easy fix roll shutters with apparent all parts of which it is composed.
[0011] One way of implementing this invention is described by reference to drawings. The
easy repair roll consists of the box (1), the side panels of the box (2), the guides
(3), the sliding pads (4), the axis (5), the pulleys (6), the bearings (8) the coil
(10), the belt (12), the moving mechanism(actuator) (13) and the rolling part of the
roll (14).
[0012] Also numbered are the features of the invention which are the holes (7) around the
pulley (6), the new aperture in the box of the roll shutter (9) and the slot (11)
exists in the new coil (10) for exiting of the strap (12).
[0013] In the drawings are shown here the new aperture of the box (9) has a specific size,
but does not prevent the creation of openings of different sizes according to the
needs of each roll, as well does not prevent the use of several sizes of coil (10).
Moreover, it is not prohibitive, that the slot (11) in coil (10) to be constructed
in various dimensions, or even to have it on a different spot in the coil, as the
goal is to have the least possible friction. Finally the invention does not bind the
number and size of the holes (7) on the pulley (6).
1. The easy fix roll shutters consists of the box (1), the side panels of the box (2)
guides (3), the sliding pads (4), the axis (5), the pulleys (6), bearings (8), the
coil (10), the belt (12), the moving mechanism (actuator) (13), and the rolling part
of the roll (14) and is characterized by a pulley (6) which has more than one holes ( 7) where we can selectively stabilize
the belt (12), a large aperture (9) of the box, at the point where the belt passes
(12) and the a new coil (10) whose size is proportional to the aperture (9) of the
box.
2. The easy fix roll shutters, according to claim 1, is characterized by a pulley (6) mounted on the shaft (5) which has circumferentially more than one holes
(7) and so the belt (12) can selectively be stabilized in the appropriate hole.
3. The easy fix roll shutters, according to claim 1, is characterized by a large aperture (9) of the box from which the belt (12) passes through to exit,
minimizing the bending angle of belt's path and so friction during operation of the
roll.
4. The easy fix roll shutters, according to claim 1 is characterized by a larger coil (10), comparable to the size of the aperture of the box. The coil is
placed over the aperture (9) of the box where it facilitates the moving of belt out
of the box, minimizing friction.
5. The Easy Repair Method of the roll, is characterized by the fact, that by unscrewing and removing the coil (10,) there is clear visual contact
of the pulley, so the belt replacement, can be done by using selectively any hole
(7) of the pulley (6), while the box (1) and pulley (6) remain in the operating position.
