[0001] A device for adjusting the closing position of a sliding door for a cold storage
room, according to the preamble of the main claim, forms an object of the present
invention.
[0002] As known, a cold storage room has an opening in a wall thereof adapted to be closed
by a door, usually sliding on a guide arranged at an upper side of the door and fixed
to such wall (externally with respect to cold storage room). In such guide there slides
at least one and usually two guided elements supported by corresponding support members
integral to the body of the door and in particular to the lateral sidewalls of the
latter in proximity of the upper side thereof.
[0003] With such doors, there arises the problem related to the fact that the opening of
the cold storage room may be provided with a perimeter frame or the thickness of the
very door varies as a function of the temperature of the cold storage room with the
aim of having a suitable insulation thereof. For such reasons, there arises the need
of adjusting, during assembly, the position of the door along the upper guide associated
to the wall of the cold storage room with the aim of ensuring the closure thereof
on the latter, at the opening provided therein and create the required sealing thereon
by means of known gaskets associated to the body of the door, in proximity to the
sidewalls thereof and the upper and lower sides thereof.
[0004] Various solutions that allow obtaining such adjustment are known; however said devices
adapted to obtain the latter are not easy to use, often they do not allow obtaining
the required sealing closure of the door on the wall of the cold storage room around
the opening provided for in the latter and they are difficult and complex to mount
on the door.
[0005] An object of the present invention is that of providing a device for adjusting the
closing position of a door for cold storage rooms that is improved with respect to
the equivalent devices of the prior art.
[0006] In particular, an object of the present invention is that of providing a device of
the aforementioned type that can be universally used on a door for a cold storage
room regardless of the thickness thereof and regardless of whether the opening of
the cold storage room on which such door is adapted to be enclosed is provided with
a perimeter frame.
[0007] Another object is that of providing a device of the aforementioned type that is easy
to use and mount and that is capable of allowing a quick adjustment of the position
of the door with respect to the opening of the cold storage room.
[0008] These and other objects which will be apparent to a man skilled in the art are attained
by an adjustment device according to the attached claims.
[0009] For a better understanding of the present invention there are attached - purely by
way of non-limiting example - the following drawings, wherein:
figure 1 shows an exploded perspective view of an adjustment device according to the
invention associated to a door for a cold storage room;
figure 2 shows an exploded perspective view of the device of figure 1;
figure 3 shows a perspective view of the device of figure 1 in a use position; and
figures 4, 5 and 6 show the various use positions of a door for a cold storage room
obtained through the use of the device of figure 1.
[0010] With reference to the aforementioned figures a door for a cold storage room is generally
indicated with 1 and it comprises a body 2 with lateral sidewalls 3, vertical, connected
to each other on an upper side 5 and on a lower side (not shown and moveable in proximity
of a floor of the environment proximal to the cold storage room).
[0011] The cold storage room is delimited by a wall 7 having a side 8 outside the cold storage
room and another one, 9, inner with respect to the latter. For access into such cold
storage room there is provided an opening 10 obtained in the wall 7 adapted to be
closed by the door 1; the latter is provided with gaskets 12 on a face 13 thereof
faced towards such wall with the aim of providing sealing thereon when it is closed.
[0012] The door moves along a guide 15 integral with the wall 7 in which there slides an
element 16 of a support member 17 perforated centrally in 36 which divides such recess
from a cavity 37 adapted to contain a cylindrical body 38 integral with a plate 39
and provided with the through hole 40 adapted to be arranged coaxially to that 36
of the wall 35 when such body 38 is inserted in the cavity (cylindrical) 37. From
the plate 39 there rises, laterally, a projection 42 provided with a seat 43 adapted
to receive a fin 44 projecting from a body 45 having a first cylindrical element 46
projecting therefrom, adapted to penetrate into the recess 31 and having a wall or
toothed lateral surface 48 adapted to cooperate with the teeth 33 of the wall 32 mentioned
above. The cooperation is such to relatively lock the teeth 33 between those of the
wall 48 and thus lock the element 46 in the recess 31. Such locking is obtained by
fastening a screw 50, passing in the holes 36 and 40 and in a hole (not shown) of
the element 46, with a bolt 51 inserted in a seat 52 of the plate 45, provided on
one side 45A of the latter opposite to that 45B from which the body 46 projects. The
screw (or corresponding mechanical coupling member) cooperates with an anti-unscrewing
member 53 (for example a broken ring) and the seat 52 is closed by a cap 55. The screw
50 also cooperates with a slot seat 56 (so as to allow the adjustment) of a bracket
57 fixed to the side 5 of the door 1.
[0013] The adjustment device comprises a second portion 60 adapted to be constrained to
the first through the plate 39 of the door along such guide arranged at the upper
part on the side 5 of the door. Such support member 17 is provided with a device for
adjusting the position of the door 1 with respect to the opening 10 i.e. to the wall
7 of the cold storage room and adapted to allow adjusting such position regardless
of the thickness of the door (as a function of the interior temperature of the cold
storage room) and regardless of whether the opening 10 is delimited by a frame 23.
[0014] More in particular, such adjustment device comprises a first portion 25 fixed to
the door, for example to each lateral sidewall thereof, by means of usual screws 26
inserted in seats 27 which, preferably are of the slot type so as to allow an adjustment
of the position of such first portion 25 along the corresponding sidewall 3 as a function
of the position of the guide 15. The seats 27 are covered by a protection casing 28.
[0015] Such first portion comprises an end (upper, with reference to the drawings and the
position on the door) 30 having a cylindrical recess 31, with the lateral wall 32
provided with projecting teeth 33 faced towards the internal of such recess. The latter
is closed - at the lower part - by a wall 35 and the body 45 and bearing the sliding
element 16 in the guide 5.
[0016] More in particular, such element 16 is borne by a shaft 61 coupled to brackets 62
projecting from a body 63 of the second portion 60 mentioned above. Contingently,
such shaft 61 penetrates into holes of such brackets and protrudes therefrom through
a threaded end 64 thereof on which there is arranged a nut 66 which constrains the
shaft to the aforementioned brackets.
[0017] The latter projects from the body 63 which is cylindrical shaped and comprises two
opposite recesses 70 and 71, the first facing towards the body 45 and the second towards
the plate 39. The recess 70 has a wall 71 provided with teeth 72 adapted to cooperate
(so as to be locked) with a toothed surface 74 of a cylindrical element 75 projecting
from the side 45B of the body 45 and provided with a through hole opening in a seat
77 provided in the side 45A of such body.
[0018] The recess 70 has a closing wall 78 perforated centrally in 79 which divides such
recess from the other one 71. The latter is adapted to penetrate a cylindrical body
80 borne by the plate 39 on the same side of the body 38; the body 80 is perforated
in 81 so as to allow the passage of a screw 82 (or corresponding mechanical coupling
member), adapted to also penetrate into the hole 79 and that of the body 45 so as
to reach the seat 77 and cooperate with a nut 83 arranged therein (which is thus closed
by a cap 85). The screw 82 cooperates with an anti-unfastening ring 87 and it is adapted
to penetrate into a hole 90 of the bracket 57 so as to fix the second portion 60 to
the door.
[0019] A further bracket 100 constrains, through a further screw 101, the first portion
25 to the door 1.
[0020] During use, as a function of the presence or absence of the frame 23 or of the thickness
of the door, the position of the first and of the second portion 25, 60 of the adjustment
device of the member 17 may be varied so as to bring the door 1 to contact with the
wall 7 when it is in closure. Such variation or adjustment is obtained by unfastening
the screws 50 and 82, separating the body 45 from the end 30 and from the body 63
and, after positioning the door against the wall 7, placing the element 46 and the
element 75 in the recess 31 and in the other one 70 locking the mutual teeth to each
other so as to lock the body 45 to the aforementioned portions 25 and 60.
[0021] Thus, due to the cooperation of the teeth of the recesses 31 and 70 with those of
the elements 46 and 75 there occurs the mutual locking, in a desired position, of
the first and of the second portion 25 and 60 of the member 17, the locking allowing
the door to have the desired positioning so as to be sealingly enclosed on the wall
7. For example, the portions 25 and 60 may assume the mutual positions shown in the
figures 4, 5 and 6 or intermediate portions between the shown ones, as a function
of the needs.
[0022] The adjustment device comprises the portions 25 and 60 mentioned above and part of
the member 17 can thus be universally used for any door of a cold storage room, of
any thickness and adapted to cooperate with openings regardless of whether they are
provided with a frame 23. The use of the device is simple and intuitive, it does not
require particular tools and it allows a quick positioning of each (specific) door
on the corresponding (specific) opening of a (specific) cold storage room.
[0023] Other variants of the invention (like the one in which the elements 46 and 75 and
the corresponding recesses 31 and 70 have teeth projecting in a lesser number than
the indicated one) can be obtained in the light of the description above and they
are to be deemed falling within the scope of protection of the present document.
1. Device for adjusting the closing position of a sliding door (1) for a cold storage
room, said door (1) having a body (2) with vertical, lateral sidewalls (3) connected
on an upper side (5) and on a lower side, at the upper side (5) there being present
a guide (15) fixed to a wall (7) of the cold storage room in which there is provided
an opening (10) for access to the latter on which the door (1) is adapted to be enclosed,
there being provided for at least one member (17) for supporting and guiding the door
(1) fixed to such body (2), having a element (16) which is slidable in such guide
and provided with the aforementioned adjustment device, said support member (17) comprising
a first portion (25) fixed to the door (1) in a rigid position and a second portion
(60) bearing the sliding element (16) in the guide that can be positioned and locked
in a plurality of different angular positions with respect to such first position
(25) so as to allow a different positioning of the door (1) with respect to the wall
(7) of the cold storage room and allow a suitable closure of the access opening (10)
of the latter, said first portion (28) and said second portion (60) being coupled
to each other through a body (45) separable from said portions and fixedly couplable
to the latter so as to modify the relative spatial positioning thereof, such body
(45) having elements (46, 75) adapted to cooperate in a separable and lockable manner
with counter-elements (31, 70) associated to said portions (25, 60), said elements
(46, 75) and counter-elements (31, 70) having mutual engagement members (33, 48; 72,
74) adapted to prevent relative rotations between said body (45) and said portions
(25, 60), characterised in that said elements (46, 75) of the body (45) adapted to cooperate with said first and
second portion (25, 60) are cylindrical elements projecting on one side (45B) of such
body, the counter-elements being recesses (31, 70) provided for in said first and
in said second portion, said cylindrical elements (46, 75) having toothed lateral
surfaces (48, 74) adapted to cooperate with teeth (33, 72) of the recesses (31, 70).
2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that said elements (46, 75) and counter-elements (31, 70) are constrained to each other
by means of mechanical coupling members (50, 82), such members also constraining the
entire support member (17) to the door (2) through the constraint to the latter of
said first and second portion (25, 60) of the adjustment device.
3. Device according to claim 2, characterised in that there is also provided for the direct fixing of the first portion (25) to the door
(1).
4. Device according to claim 2, characterised in that the mechanical coupling members (50, 82) cooperate with a plate (39) from whose one
side there projects cylindrical bodies (38, 80) adapted to cooperate with corresponding
seats (32, 71) respectively present in the first and in the second portion (25, 60)
of the adjustment device, said cylindrical bodies (38, 80) and said portions (25,
60) as well as said elements (46, 75) of said separable body (45) being perforated
for receiving said mechanical coupling members so as to fix such plate and said separable
body to said portions (25, 60).
5. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that said second portion (60) has a body (63) to which there is associated a support (61)
of said element (16) sliding in the guide (15).
6. Device according to claim 5, characterised in that said body (63) has projecting and perforated brackets (62) adapted to receive the
support (61) of said sliding element (16), such support being fixed to such brackets
and thus to said body (63).
