Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to ventilation systems of louver systems used for providing
natural ventilation at all kinds of openings and doors, wherein vents can be slid
into the frame by means of special sliding members without requiring a connection
member such as a screw or the like, and wherein finished frames can be mounted to
the application opening from outside or inside.
Background of the Invention
[0002] In the state of the art, a louver comprised of fixed vents is formed with the purpose
of providing ventilation by arranging vent profiles into a frame comprised of frame
profiles on the protrusions externally mounted to the inner surface of the vertical
frame profile (e.g.:
US3217631), or by arranging the vents into grooves that are formed after the continuous protrusions
located in the inner surface of vertical frame profile are milled in conformity with
the vent geometry (e.g.
US3442744,
US3649195), or by arranging the vent profiles into grooves which are milled on the vertical
frame profiles in conformity with the vent geometry (e.g.
US5255486,
US3991533), or by fixing the vents to the vertical frame profile by a screw or rivet coupling
(e.g.
US3782050).
[0003] When the state of the art is examined, there is a disadvantage of requirement of
performing an external operation on the vertical frame profile. For example in the
document no.
US3217631, which is the state of the art, in order to fix the vent profiles on the frame profile,
another part on which the vent profiles can fit should be obtained on the inner surface
of the frame profile by either adhering, welding, fixing by screw or rivets another
part, or by forming protuberances on the surface of the frame profile by a machine
like a press.
[0004] The disadvantage of another state of the art (e.g.
US3442744) is that it requires provision of channels, wherein the permanent protrusions on
the frame profile to be milled in conformity with the section geometry of the vent
profile can be placed, and which will prevent movement of the vent profile; or that
it requires, as in the examples of documents no.
US5255486 and
US3991533, provision of channels conforming with the vent profile geometry on the frame profiles
in which channels the vents will be placed.
[0005] The disadvantage of another state of the art (e.g.
US3782050) is that it requires all vent profiles used in the louver to be fixed by means of
coupling means such as screws or rivets applied from the outer surface of the vertical
frame profiles.
Summary of the Invention
[0006] The objective of the present invention is to provide an easy-to-mount louver system,
which enables natural ventilation at all openings and doors; can be mounted, differing
from the general applications, by sliding the vent profiles into the special geometry
frame profiles together with the interconnection parts during the module production;
and does not require any auxiliary member or connection member during the said process.
[0007] Another objective of the invention is to allow light passage to a certain extent
by means of its special geometry vents and to obstruct visibility of the inner environment
from outside.
[0008] A further objective of the invention is to allow use of an insect screen or a bird
screen to obstruct entrance of unwanted and harmful organisms to the inner environment.
[0009] Another objective of the invention is to ensure that the connection points at the
insect screen or bird screen applications do not deform the aesthetics in the architectural
appearance when looked from inside or outside.

Detailed Description of the Invention
[0012] The profiles (1) (2) (3) with a special geometric section in the louver system, which
is used for enabling natural ventilation through all openings and doors, are produced
in extrusion presses such that they have all required grooves for accessories such
as a gasket (5), (8) etc. and connection part (4) and connection profile (3).
[0013] The connection profile (3) or the connection part (4) is used upon preference as
the part that is able to perform the same task as the members that carry out connection
during mounting of the frame profiles (1) and the vent profiles (2) to each other
in production of louver module.
[0014] The connection profile (3) is produced from extrusion profiles of suitable size which
will be able to easily move by sliding within the connection part channel (1.2) located
on the frame profile (1).
[0015] The connection part (4) is produced by plastic injection or aluminum, steel, zamak
etc. production methods in a size that will allow it to easily move by sliding within
the connection part channel (1.2) located on the frame profile (1).
[0016] Frame profiles are used as full frame or half frame according to the application
type and louver modules are formed (Figure 10, Figure 14).
[0017] The connection part (4), being slid from both sides of the vent profile (3) as seen
in Figure 7, is pushed until the connection part stoppers (4.5) (4.9) abut the vent
profile (2) and is mounted, such that the upper support (2.1) and the lower support
(2.2) located on the vent profile (2) remain within the louver channel (4.10) located
between the upper grip (4.1) and the lower grip (4.4) provided on the connection part
(4). By means of the stoppers (4.5) and (4.9), the connection part (4) is prevented
from being slid on the vent profile (2) more than necessary, and it is automatically
positioned at a position ready for being mounted to the frame profile (1).
[0018] When the vent profile (2) is disposed into the connection part vent mounting channel
(4.10), the vent pressure protrusion (4.7) located on the connection part (4) pushes
the vent profile (2) forward and enables it to fit tightly into the channel. This
way, a rigid connection is provided between the connection part (4) and the vent profile
(2).
[0019] The vent profiles (2), together with the connection parts (4) provided thereon, are
placed into the connection part channel (1.2) provided on the frame profile (1) as
seen in Figure 9, and they are positioned upon being slid within this channel.
[0020] When the connection part (4) is mounted to the vent profile (2), the connection part
pressure arm (4.2) exerts a pretensioning to the vent profile (2) from its lower surface
and thereby enables it to remain in the correct position and prevents it from unnecessary
oscillations when it is mounted to the frame profile (1) (Figure 10).
[0021] The vent profile (2) which is positioned on the frame profile (1) is fixed, as seen
in Figure 10, by a cylinder head sheet metal screw (6) such that the end of the screw
passes through the point where the connection part groove for screw (4.6) and the
vent profile lower support (2.2) are connected.
[0022] The other vent profiles are also mounted with the same method, as shown in Figure
10, by being slid together with the connection parts (4) thereon in the groove (1.2)
provided on the frame profile such that the connection part lower support (4.4) fits
onto the connection part upper support (4.3) of the vent which is previously mounted.
[0023] Since the vent profiles (2), together with the connection parts (4) thereon, are
mounted to the frame profiles (1), and the connection parts (4) are successively arranged
one after the other in the mounting channel (1.2) provided on the frame profile, mounting
position of the vent profiles (2) is automatically determined and an equal and fixed
opening is formed between each vent profile as seen in Figure 10. After all the vents
are mounted, the louver is completed.
[0024] If a module is to be formed from a full frame using the frame profile (1), the frame
profile (1) is cut by a 45° angle, and by means of a corner part (10) as seen in Figure
19, three separate frame profiles (1) are screwed to each other and thereby a "U"-shaped
frame is formed.
[0025] The vent profiles (2), together with the connection parts (4) provided thereon, are
placed into the connection part channel (1.2) provided on the frame profile (1) as
seen in Figure 12, and they are positioned upon being slid within this channel.
[0026] The other vent profiles are also mounted with the same method as shown in Figure
13, by being slid such that the connection part lower support (4.4) fits onto the
connection part upper support (4.3) of the vent which is previously mounted. After
all the vents are mounted, the last frame profile (1), which is cut by 45° as shown
in Figure 13, is screwed by means of the corner part (10) to the U-shaped frame prepared
previously and thus production of the louver module is completed (Figure 14).
[0027] The assembled louver module is placed in the opening that it will be used at doors
or wall passages as in Figure 15, and the frame profile (1) is fixed to the sub-frame
or door profile (12) from the screw mounting surface (1.3) thereon using a cylinder
head cross recessed sheet metal screw (7).
[0028] The louver system allows insect screen or bird screen application. The insect screen
or bird screen (9) is arranged as in Figure 16 on the frame profile of the louver
whose module assembly is completed. The insect screen gasket (8) is placed into the
insect screen gasket groove (1.5) provided on the frame profile as in Figure 17, such
that the insect screen (9) is fixed between the frame profile (1) and the insect screen
gasket (8). The sealing gasket (5) is placed into the sealing gasket groove (1.4)
on the frame profile and thereby the joint gap between the insect screen (9) and the
frame profile (1) is closed and assembly is completed.
