(57) The two shift modes, i.e., the first shift mode (steps S2 to S6) and the second shift mode (steps S2, S3, S7, and S8) are included in the case of making the shift from the EV running mode to the parallel HEV running mode and, since in the first shift mode, after the engine 12 is ignited and started, the starting clutch 26 is connected, the starting of the engine 12 poses no risk of drive power variation and favorable riding quality can be ensured. In the second shift mode, after the starting clutch 26 is connected, the engine 12 is ignited and started and, therefore, the synchronization control at the time of connection of the starting clutch 26 can promptly be provided without being affected by the engine torque so that the shift to the parallel HEV running mode can promptly be made. Therefore, larger driving force in the parallel HEV running mode can be obtained earlier, and the drivability performance is improved.
