(57) Garbage container(10) that can be moved as one unity, particularly suitable for placement underground, comprising a casing (11) having a garbage space (30) for receiving garbage, which casing comprises a bottom (14), a top side and a circumferential wall (13), wherein the casing (11) is provided with a bottom wall (14) in the bottom and with a filling passage for the garbage at the top side, further comprising a pressing device including a press, particularly press plate (2), that is particularly situated substantially parallel to the bottom (14), and a press drive for urging the press from a relatively high, stand-by position of the press, in a substantially linear movement, particularly vertical movement, to a pressing position of the press situated relatively low in the garbage space (30), in which the garbage in the garbage space (30) is compressed against the bottom wall (14).
