(54) REVERSE SYNCHRONIZING DEVICE FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION


(57) A tapered cone surface 18g is provided on an outer circumferential surface of a reverse idler gear 18. A reverse gear synchro plate 83 is attached to far end portions of guide shafts 81 and 82 which are supported by a reverse idler shaft 5 in such a manner that the guide shafts 81 and 82 can slide freely. The reverse gear synchro plate 83 has a tapered cone surface 83f facing the tapered cone surface 18g. A detent mechanism 9 consisting of a detent groove 91 and a lock ball mechanism 92 is provided on an external surface of the guide shaft 82. The detent groove 91 has a non-synchronizing incline portion 97 formed therein. When the lock ball mechanism 92 exerts a pressing force on the non-synchronizing incline portion 97, a component of the force separates the tapered cone surface 83f of the reverse gear synchro plate 83 from the tapered cone surface 18g of the reverse idler gear 18.
