Summary of Invention
Problems to Be Solved by Invention
[0004] In response to the recent trend of slide fasteners toward a small size, it is also
required to reduce the size of sliders. It is inevitably required to design sliders
such that sizes in the width direction, the upward and downward direction (thickness
direction) and the front-rear direction are reduced. However, in a slider for a slide
fastener disclosed in Patent Document 1, there is a possibility that simple reduction
in respective sizes may not obtain sufficient strength required for the slider since
a rear attachment post, a claw hole, a guide surface, a protrusion and a front attachment
post are provided in the front-rear direction of the slider.
[0005] Accordingly, the present invention has been made keeping in mind the above problems,
and an object of the present invention is to provide a slide for a slide fastener,
the size of which is reduced, a sufficient amount of strength of which is obtained,
and in which a cover body can be reliably positioned on a slider body.

are formed at sides of the claw hole, the protrusions are contactable with inner walls
of pull-tab accommodating portions which are formed in the pair of side plates of
the cover body to accommodate the shaft portion of the pull-tab, and the protrusions
have guide surfaces which guide the shaft portion of the pull-tab, wherein a movement
of the cover body in a front-rear direction is restricted by the guide surfaces and
the protruding portion which is contactable with the groove end surface, and wherein
the upper surface of the upper blade between the guide surfaces of the protrusions
and a surface of the front attachment post that faces the rear attachment post constitutes
a flat surface.
(6) The slider for a slide fastener according to any one of (1) to (4), wherein an
end surface of the rear attachment post at a side of the rear mouth is configured
to be contactable with an inner wall of the rear plate of the cover body, wherein

a flat surface.
Advantageous Effects of Invention
[0007] According to the slider for a slide fastener according to the present invention,
it is possible to obtain a sufficient amount of strength of the slider while reducing
the size of the slider since the groove end surface of the groove is at a front side
relative to the leading end of the latching portion which is latched to the upper
end of the front attachment post. In addition, the cover body can be reliably positioned
on the slider body.

mouth refers to a side of the slider having a smaller width from which engaged fastener
elements exit. In addition, the side of the shoulder mouths also refers to a front
side, and the side of the rear mouth also refers to a rear side. In addition, a direction
in which the slider slides refers to a front-rear direction, a direction which is
perpendicular to the front-rear direction and parallel to a fastener tape (not shown)
refers to a lateral direction (width direction), and a direction which is perpendicular
to the front-rear direction and the lateral direction refers to an upward and downward
direction.
[0010] As shown in FIG. 1 to FIG. 3, the slider 10 for a slide fastener according to this
embodiment includes a slider body 20, a pull-tab 30, a stop claw body 40 and a cover
body 50.
[0011] As shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the slider body 20 includes an upper blade 21, a lower
blade 22 which is spaced apart from and parallel to the upper blade 21 in the upward
and downward direction, and a guide post 23 which connects the inner wall surfaces
of the upper and lower blades 21 and 22 to each other. The upper and lower blades
21 and 22 are respectively provided with a pair of right and left flanges 24 which
are respectively formed along the right and left edges, in which the right and left
flanges respectively include upper flanges which are formed on the upper blade 21
and lower flanges which are formed on the lower blade 22. Fastener tapes (not shown)
can be inserted between the upper and lower flanges. The guide post 23 connects the
upper and lower blades 21 and 22 to each other at the center portions in the width
direction. A Y-shaped element guide path 27 which diverges at the guide post 23 is
formed between the upper and lower blades 21 and 22.
[0012] A front attachment post 61 is erected on the upper surface of the upper blade 21
integrally with the upper blade 21, at the side of the shoulder mouths. A rear attachment
post 62 is erected on the upper surface of the upper blade 21 integrally with the
upper blade 21, at the side of the rear mouth relative to the front attachment post
61. In addition, the front attachment post 61 and the rear attachment post 62 are
formed at a center position in the width direction of the upper surface of the upper
blade 21 and in the front-rear direction. A concave groove 63 is formed between the
front attachment post 61 and the rear attachment post 62. The concave groove 63, together
with pull-tab accommodating portions 52a of the cover body 50, forms a space into
which a shaft 31 of the pull-tab 30 is rotatably fitted. In addition, the front attachment
post 61 is arranged at the side of the shoulder mouths relative to a claw hole 65
which will be described later, and the rear attachment post 62 is arranged at the
side of the rear mouth relative to the claw hole 65 which will be described later.
[0013] Crimping recesses 61a which crimp and fix the cover body 50 are respectively formed
in right and left side surfaces of the front attachment post 61. In addition, a latching
protrusion 61b which latches the stop claw body 40 is formed on an upper end portion
of the front attachment post 61. The latching protrusion 61b is a protrusion smaller
than an open window portion 45 of the stop claw body 40, and protrudes upward from
a substantially center portion in the width direction of the front attachment post
61. In addition, a pair of right and left vertical walls 61c which extend forward
from the front attachment post 61 are formed on the upper surface of the upper blade
21. The pair of right and left vertical walls 61c extend from both sides of the front
attachment post 61 to the front end of the upper blade 21.
[0014] In addition, a groove 70 which extends forward is formed between the pair of vertical
walls 61c and on the upper surface of the upper blade 21 at a front side (the side
of the shoulder mouths) relative to the front attachment post 61. The groove 70 has
a groove bottom surface which is formed lower than the upper surface of the upper
blade 21, groove side surfaces which extend upward from end portions in the width
direction of the bottom surface of the groove surface, and a groove end surface 71
which is surrounded by the groove bottom surface and the rear end portions of the
groove side surfaces.
[0015] In addition, a protruding portion 55 of the cover body 50 which will be described
later is fitted into the groove 70 (see FIG 3). In addition, a bulged portion 72 having
a front surface 73 which is formed continuously from the groove end surface 71 is
formed between the front attachment post 61 and the groove 70.
[0016] Crimping recesses 62a which crimp and fix the cover body 50 are formed in the right
and left side surfaces of the rear attachment post 62. In addition, a pair of right
and left vertical walls 64 which respectively extend from right and left end portions
of the rear attachment post 62 in the front-rear direction are formed on the upper
surface of the upper blade 21. In addition, the claw hole 65 is formed between the
right and left vertical walls 64 in front of the rear attachment post 62 of the upper
blade 21. The claw hole 65 penetrates through the upper blade 21 in the upward and
downward direction, and is opened to the element guide path 27. In the right and left
vertical walls 61c which are formed at a side of the front attachment post 61 and
the right and left vertical walls 64 which are formed at a side of the rear attachment
post 62, the right vertical walls are arranged collinearly in the front-rear direction
and the left vertical walls are arranged collinearly in the front-rear direction such
that peripheral edges of the cover body 50 which will be described later can be disposed
around the vertical walls 61c and 64. In addition, the pair of right and left vertical
walls 61c and the pair of right and left vertical walls 64 are divided from each other
by the concave groove 63.
[0017] Protrusions 66 having guide surfaces 66a are formed on front end portions of the
right and left vertical walls and at sides of the claw hole 65. The guide surfaces
66a are formed on surfaces of the vertical walls 64 and the protrusions 66 that face
a rear surface of the attachment post 61. The guide surfaces 66a constitute inclined
surfaces with heights increasing in the direction toward rear sides. When the pull-tab
is operated, the guide surfaces 66a allow the shaft portion 31 of the pull-tab 30
to slide on the guide surfaces 66a so that a stop claw 43 can efficiently escape from
the element guide path 27. In addition, the upper surface of the upper blade 21 constitutes
a flat surface at a portion between the guide surfaces 66a of the protrusions 66 and
the surface (rear surface) of the front attachment post 61 that faces the rear attachment
post 62, i.e. a portion corresponding to the concave groove 63.
[0018] The stop claw body 40 is made of metal material, for example, a copper alloy, a stainless
steel or the like. As shown in FIG. 1 to FIG. 3, the stop claw body 40 has a plate-shaped
base portion 41, a latching portion 42 which is formed on a front end portion of the
base portion 41 and is latched to the latching protrusion 61b of the front attachment
post 61, the stop claw 43 which is formed by being bent downward from a rear end portion
of the base portion 41 and is inserted into the claw hole 65, and a spring portion
44 which is formed by extending upward and being bent forward from the rear end portion
of the base portion 41. The spring portion 44 urges a rear end portion of the stop
claw body 40 downward so that the stop claw 43 is inserted into the claw hole 65.
[0019] The latching portion 42 has the rectangular open window portion 45 into which the
latching protrusion 61b of the front attachment post 61 can be inserted and latched.
In addition, the latching portion 42 is bent downward from the base portion 41 such
that the latching portion 42 is easy to be caught by the front attachment post 61
and difficult to escape from the front attachment post 61. The edge walls constituting
the open window portion 45 are also bent. The spring portion 44 is configured by blanking
a portion of the stop claw body 40 that is at center in the longitudinal direction
from one end at a side of the base portion 41 of the open window portion 45 to form
a cutout hole 46 and raising the blanked portion. In addition, a leading end of the
bending-machined spring portion 44 protrudes so as to be above the base portion 41.
The leading end of the stop claw 43 is formed to be narrower than the size of the
width of base portion 41, and can be inserted into the claw hole 65 of the upper blade
21 so as to protrude from and retract into the element guide path 27.
[0020] The cover body 50 has a top plate 51 which is bent so as to be convex upward, a pair
of right and left side plates 52 extending downward from both side edges of the top
plate 51, a front plate 53 extending downward from a front end portion of the top
plate 51, and a rear plate 54 extending downward from a rear end portion of the top
plate 51. A cover body recess 50a is formed by edge walls consisting of the top plate,
the pair of right and left side plates 52, the front plate 53 and the rear plate 54.
In addition, in the cover body recess 50a, a guide groove 51a into which a leading
end portion of the spring portion 44 is inserted is formed in the rear surface of
the top plate 51. In addition, the pull-tab accommodating portions 52a which accommodate
the shaft portion 31 of the pull-tab 30 are formed at lower end surfaces of center
portions of the pair of right and left side plates 52. The pull-tab accommodating
portions 52a are configured so as to be concave downward. Furthermore, the protruding
portion 55 which is fitted into the groove 70 of the upper blade 21 is formed extending
downward from a lower end surface of the front plate 53. In addition, lower end surfaces
of the edge walls which form the cover body recess 50a are formed at the same height
except for the pull-tab accommodating portions 52a and the protruding portion 55,
and are disposed so as to face upper surfaces of the right and left vertical walls
61c and the right and left vertical walls 64.
[0021] In addition, as shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the cover body 50 is fixed to the front
and rear attachment posts 61 and 62 as the right and left side plates 52 thereof are
respectively crimped to the crimping recesses 61a and 62a of the front and rear attachment
posts 61 and 62.
[0022] In addition, as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 3, a rear end portion of the groove 70 of
the upper blade 21 is provided with a groove end surface 71. The groove end surface
71 is formed at the front side relative to a leading end of the latching portion 42
of the stop claw body 40 which is latched to the latching protrusion 61b of the front
attachment post 61.
[0023] In addition, the bulged portion 72 having the front surface 73 which is formed continuously
from the groove end surface 71 is formed between the front attachment post 61 and
the groove 70. The bulged portion 72 is bulged upward from the upper surface of the
upper blade 21, a rear side of the bulged portion 72 continuously contacts the front
surface of the front attachment post 61, and the front surface 73 of the bulged portion
72 has a guide portion 75. The guide portion 75 constitutes an inclined surface which
is inclined toward the upper surface of the bulged portion 72. The guide portion 75
guides the protruding portion 55 of the cover body 50 to the groove 70. In addition,
the guide portion 75 is formed at least between the leading end of the latching portion
42 of the stop claw body 40 and the groove end surface 71 of the groove 70 in the
state where the guide portion is latched to the latching protrusion 61b of the front
attachment post 61.
[0024] Referring to the sequence of assembling the slider 10 for a slide fastener, first,
the shaft portion 31 of the pull-tab 30 is inserted into the concave groove 63 of
the slider body 20. Afterwards, the stop claw body 40 is disposed on the slider body
20 such that the latching portion 42 is latched to the latching protrusion 61 b of
the front attachment post 61 and the stop claw 43 is inserted into the claw hole 65
of the upper blade 21. After that, the cover body 50 is disposed on the slider body
20 such that the front and rear attachment posts 61 and 62 are accommodated in the
cover body recess 50a. Next, as shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 6, the cover body 50 is set
to a preset position as the top plate 51 of the cover body 50 is pressed downward
by the pressure pad 81. In addition, as shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the cover body
50 is fixed to the front and rear attachment posts 61 and 62 as the right and left
side plates 52 of the cover body 50 are respectively crimped to the crimping recesses
61a and 62a of the front and rear attachment posts 61 and 62 by a of right and left
punches 82. According to the above-mentioned sequence, the slider 10 is assembled.
In addition, in the assembled state, the shaft portion 31 of the pull-tab 30 is disposed
between the concave groove 63 of the upper blade 21 and the base portion 41 of the
stop claw body 40.
[0025] Here, as described above, it is required to prevent the cover body 50 from rattling
in the front-rear direction or the width direction by positioning the cover body 50
with respect to the slider body 20 when fixing the cover body 50 to the slider body
20. According to this embodiment, the positioning of the cover body 50 is performed
by bringing the side walls of the front attachment post 61 and the rear attachment
post 62 into contact with the inner walls of the pair of side plates 52 so as to reduce
rattling in the width direction and an end surface of the rear attachment post 62
at the side of the rear mouth and the groove end surface 71 into contact with the
inner wall of the cover body recess 50a and the inner wall of the protruding portion
55 so as to reduce rattling in the front-rear direction. In addition, even after the
cover body 50 is fixed to the slider body 20 by respectively crimping to the crimping
recesses 61a and 62a of the front and rear attachment posts 61 and 62 by the pair
of right and left punches 82, a movement of the cover body 50 in the front-rear direction
or the lateral direction is restricted. It is therefore possible to prevent the cover
body 50 from being deformed or escaping from the slider body 20. In addition, since
the cover body 50 is crimped and fixed to the slider body 20 as the front surface
73 of the bulged portion 72 contacts the front surface 53 of the cover body 50, it
is possible to more firmly fix the cover body 50 to the slider body 20.
[0026] Since the groove end surface 71 is disposed at the front side relative to the leading
end of the latching portion 42 which is latched to the upper end of the front attachment
post 61, it is possible to prevent the latching portion 42 from coming into contact
with the cover body 50 after the cover body 50 is fixed to the slider body 20. Accordingly,
the function as the stop claw body 40 can be firmly maintained.
[0027] According to this embodiment, when the cover body 50 is finally fixed by crimping,
as shown in FIG 3, it is required to set the top plate 51 of the cover body 50 in
the state where it is pressed downward by the pressure pad 81. This is because, when
the latching portion 42 is latched to the latching protrusion 61b, the leading end
of the spring portion 44 contacts the inner wall of the top plate 51 of the cover
body 50, and as shown in FIG. 6, the front portion of the cover body 50 is pushed
up relative to the rear portion, so that the cover body 50 cannot be disposed at a
preset position. In addition, this embodiment is configured such that, even in this
state, when the cover body 50 us pressed downward using the pressure pad 81, the protruding
portion 55 protruding downward and the bulged portion 72 protruding upward promptly
contact each other. Accordingly, the protruding portion 55 is guided into the groove
70 by the bulged portion 72 so that the protruding portion 55 can be easily fitted
into the groove 70. In addition, In addition, since the bulged portion 72 is provided
with the guide portion 75 having the inclined surface which is inclined toward the
upper surface 74 of the bulged portion 72 from the front surface 73 as described above,
the protruding portion 55 can be smoothly guided to the groove 70.
[0028] Since the guide portion 75 is formed between the leading end of the latching portion
42 and the groove end surface 71, when the cover body 50 is pressed downward using
the pressure pad 81, the protruding portion 55 can be guided to the groove 70 while
the cover body 50 is prevented from contacting the latching portion 42 as much as
possible. This can prevent the stop claw body 40 from being damaged due to the contact
of the cover body 50 with the latching portion 42 or escaping from the latching protrusion
61b, which would otherwise cause an assembly defect.
[0029] As described above, in the slider 10 for a slide fastener according to this embodiment,
since the groove end surface 71 of the groove 70 of the upper blade 21 is formed at
the front side relative to the leading end of the latching portion 42 of the stop
claw body 40 which is latched to the upper end of the front attachment post 61, it
is possible to maintain the size for obtaining the required strength of the front
attachment post 61 and the rear attachment post 62 while miniaturizing the slider
10, thereby obtaining a sufficient amount of strength of the slider 10. In addition,
the cover body 50 can be reliably positioned on the slider body 20.
[0030] In addition, in the slider 10 for a slide fastener according to this embodiment,
the front surface 73 of the bulged portion 72 of the upper blade 21 is provided the
guide portion 75 having the inclined surface which is inclined toward the upper surface
74 of the bulged portion 72, and the guide portion 75 guides the protruding portion
55 of the cover body 50 to the groove 70. Accordingly, the protruding portion 55 can
be reliably fitted using the groove 70.
[0031] The present invention is not limited to those that were illustrated in the foregoing
embodiments but can be suitably changed without departing from the concept of the
present invention.
[0032] For instance, although the method of fixing the cover body 50 according to the foregoing
embodiments is crimping and fixing, the fixing method is not limited thereto but can
be implemented as other methods such as latching, bonding or the like.
[0033] In addition, although the groove 70 according to this embodiment is formed lower
than the upper surface of the upper blade 21, the groove is not limited thereto but
may be formed lower than a surface (the upper surfaces of the vertical walls 61c and
64) on which the cover body 50 is disposed.
[0034] Furthermore, although the positioning of the cover body 50 in the front-rear direction
according to this embodiment is performed through the contact between the rear plate
54 of the cover body 50 and the rear attachment post 62 and the contact between the
protruding portion 55 of the cover body 50 and the groove end surface 71, the positioning
is not limited thereto but may be performed through the contact between the inner
walls of the pull-tab accommodating portions 52a of the cover body 50 and the vertical
surface that is the rear surface of the protrusion 66 and contact between the protruding
portion 55 of the cover body 50 and the groove end surface 71.
