(54) Improved candle holder

(57) Improved candle holder having two candle holders of different size placed opposite one another, comprising a hollow body (1) internally divided into two cavities (2, 6), a greater cavity (2) and a minor cavity (6), wherein each cavity (2, 6) has a minor internal base and a greater and open external base (3, 7); and a horizontal separation wall (4) with an orifice (5) that connects the two cavities (2, 6) which facilitates extracting a candle after it is used, or can be used to house a conventional elongated candle

Description

[0001] As indicated by its name, the invention relates to an improved candle holder having two open bases, a greater base and a minor base, which face cavities that are suitable for housing a candle, such as a plate-warmer candle, a conventional candle, or a lamp candle, the diameter of which candle can vary depending on the base which at the time of use is in the top position.

[0002] The holder is hollow and has its interior divided into two cavities, each one of which is on the side of one base; the cavities are connected to one another by a central orifice that facilitates extracting the candle after it is used, or can be used to house a conventional elongated candle.

[0003] It belongs to the field of decoration and housewares.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0004] Devices acting as candle holders have been known since immemorial times. There are also references in the patent literature of candle holders suitable for holding candles of different diameters, for which purpose they comprise two bases, an upper and a lower base, which are open and have different diameters such that the candleholder can rest on either one to hold one type of candle or the other.

[0005] An example of this solution is Utility Model ES148287U, which relates to a reversible candleholder comprising a tubular body open on its bases, one of the bases being larger than the other, said body having a number of radial fins to improve its stability. The bases are not connected to one another, so that the candle extraction operations can only be effected by pulling on the same, limiting its use to tall candles and excluding plate-warmer type candles; in any case, a simple extraction cannot be guaranteed, particularly if the candle has been substantially used up.

[0006] There are also references in the market, such as the "two in one" candle holder of designer Oscar Díaz, which can be seen in http://www.dezeen.com/2011/09/07/duo-by-oscar-diaz-for-doiy/, with reversible supports made of silicone suitable for housing on one of its bases a conventional elongated candle and on the other a plate-warmer candle, extraction of which is simplified by the deformation of the support, which is made possible by its construction in silicone; however, the use of silicone limits its transparency, light effects and other issues that are also meant to be solved.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0007] To overcome the aforementioned drawbacks and obtain a more versatile candle holder that is also easier to use and to clean, the invention proposes a reversible candle holder comprising a body that can have the shape of a truncated cone, pyramid, tube, or any other shape having at least two opposite bases, such that said body comprises:

Two cavities of different sizes, each cavity having a minor internal base and a greater external base, said external base being open for the two cavities.

[0008] The greater bases of the two cavities coincide with the bases of the candle holder body.

[0009] A transverse horizontal wall separates the two cavities, which are connected by an orifice in said wall.

[0010] On its face on the side of the greater cavity, said horizontal wall can have elements to aid centring the candle, particularly for plate-warmer type candles. Said elements can consist of a series of lips or protrusions around the central orifice.

[0011] With this configuration the candle holder has great versatility and is easy to clean.

[0012] Regarding its use, the candle holder can be used with plate-warmer candles of different diameters, depending on whether the larger or smaller cavity is offered for use.

[0013] It is also possible to introduce in said cavities the base of large candles or Easter candles, which are held therein, collecting the molten wax in the cavities.

[0014] The orifice present between the central wall that communicates the two cavities has a twofold function, allowing to insert therein a conventional elongated candle, thereby increasing the versatility of the candle holder, and also simplifying the task of eliminating the remains of the candle after it is used, by pushing out the remains from the unused cavity. This facilitates the extraction of the used candles, which is sometimes a difficult task.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0015]

FIGURE 1 is a view of the candle holder assembly, showing the main body (1) resting on its greater base, revealing its interior by a cut-away view so that it is possible to distinguish the greater cavity (2), provided with an open greater base (3), the transverse horizontal wall (4), the orifice (5) communicating the greater cavity (2) and the minor cavity (6), and the open minor cavity (7); it also shows the centring lines (8) on the face of the horizontal internal wall (4) on the side of the greater cavity.

FIGURE 2 is a cross-section of the candle holder, resting on its minor base, showing the two cavities, the greater cavity (2) and the minor cavity (6), both of which have a truncated cone shape and are open on their greater bases (3) and (7), and also shows the transverse horizontal wall (4), the orifice (5) and the centring lines (8).

FIGURE 3 shows the outside of the device in two different positions, in the first of which positions (9) it is resting on the minor base, as in FIGURE 2, and therefore offers for use its greater cavity, while in the second position (10) the device rests on its greater base, as in FIGURE 1, and therefore offers for use its minor cavity.

DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0016] An embodiment of the invention is described below. This is not the only possible embodiment and the invention can be executed in several different ways.

[0017] The improved candle holder comprises a hollow body (1) with a truncated cone shape that in turn comprises:

A greater cavity (2) open on its greater base (3).

A minor cavity (6) open on its minor base (7).

[0018] Between said cavities is a horizontal wall (4) with a central orifice (5) that connects the two cavities.

[0019] The face of the central wall that is on the side of the greater cavity has some centring lines (8) formed by a circular lip with a diameter allowing to house in it a plate-warmer candle. Thee candle holder thus configured is able to house plate-warmer candles of different sizes, depending on which cavity is used, as well as conventional candles due to the orifice (5) provided in the horizontal wall (4), or large candles without any restriction other than the diameter of their internal bases, to prevent compromising its stability.
