The object of the present invention, as stated in the title, is an ottoman storage bed with a single front, in other words, a base that comprises a storage compartment made up of two horizontally joined parts and a lid, wherein irrespective of the dimensions of the ottoman storage bed, the storage compartment appears visually as one.

The present invention is characterised in that its construction characteristics, the means employed and their location, are such that they allow an ottoman storage bed to be obtained which, irrespective of the dimensions that it may have, presents just one single front,.

Consequently, the present invention relates to the field of mattress bases and particularly to that of ottoman storage beds made up of a storage compartment and an articulated lid to access the inside of the storage compartment.

Ottoman storage beds that serve as bases for mattresses comprise a storage compartment, generally accessible from the top, and a lid that covers the storage compartment and that opens and closes in respect to one of its sides, which is what allows access inside the storage compartment.

What happens is that normally when the dimensions of the ottoman storage bed surpass 150 cm or 160 cm wide, two storage compartments are disposed joined to each other, each one having its respective lid, given the difficulty entailed by having to hoist and move a single lid and a single storage compartment. Consequently, the useful inner space is clearly reduced, not only in nominal terms, but also in real terms because the entire inner space has been compartmentalised, resulting in poorer usage of the inner space.

Now, with the objective of achieving better use of the inner space and preventing the nominal loss of storage space, an ottoman storage bed has been developed with a single front, such as the one described hereafter, the essence of which is set out in claim one.

The object of the invention is an ottoman storage bed with a single front in such a way that the storage compartment on which the lid is supported is made up of two parts joined horizontally, meaning that the available space is greater than if there were two storage compartments joined together longitudinally.

The invention is particularly designed, but in a non-limiting manner, for ottoman storage beds having a width that surpasses 150 cm. The large dimensions of the lid, and the difficulty entailed by its handling and also ensuring an efficient point of support without reducing the useful inner space, are the reason why an ottoman storage bed such as the one described hereafter has been designed.

The lid is formed after joining two parts each one having a width that is half the width of the ottoman storage bed. Each part of the lid has the usual hydraulics disposed on the sides of the storage compartment, one on the right and the other on the left. The final ensuing result is 4 hydraulic mechanisms to facilitate lifting thereof.

Now, and with the objective of improving handling thereof and providing an additional point of support for the lid, in the middle of the storage compartment, on the side of the far end, on which the lid is articulated, a supporting element emerges having sufficient length so as to be able to secure hydraulic lifting means.

Said hydraulic means, may be disposed either on one side or on both sides of the intermediate supporting element.

Thanks to these accessories added inside the storage compartment, the achievement is on the one hand the lid having a higher number of hydraulic means for lifting and lowering, and distributed in a regular manner, in addition to providing a point of support and rest for the lid at its top part, consequently achieving the inner space of the storage compartment being single, undivided, without effective or nominal loss of the useful inner space.

As a complement to the description that follows and in order to contribute to a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, a set of plans is attached to the present description, wherein its drawings, in an illustrative and non-limiting manner represent the most significant details of the invention.

Figure 1 shows a representation in perspective of the ottoman storage bed with the single lid that is the object of the invention.

In the light of the drawings, what follows is a description of a preferred mode of embodiment of the proposed invention.

In figure 1 it is possible to observe how the ottoman storage bed comprises:

• A storage compartment (1) or drawer made up of two parts.
• A lid (2) in a single piece or made up of two parts
• Hydraulic lifting means (3),(4) and (5).

Wherein the lid (2) can be the result of joining two parts (2.1) and (2.2), as shown in the drawing, by means of joining means (2.3), forming a single front.

The hydraulic means (3) and (4) are the hydraulic pistons normally used in ottoman storage beds to open them and which are secured to the inner face of the lateral sides of the storage compartment (1).

The invention is characterised in the disposition of an intermediate supporting element (5) emerging from the upper edge of the drawer (1), and which has sufficient length so as to be able to secure hydraulic pistons (6) such as the ones disposed on the lateral sides of the storage compartment (1).

The height of said intermediate support (5) is such that it also serves as a rest for the lid (1).

The hydraulic means (6) installed on the intermediate support (5) may be one, disposed on one of the faces, or two, one on each face of the intermediate support (5).

Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention, in addition to a mode of putting it into practice, it is stated that, within its essence, it may be put into practice in other modes of embodiment that differ in detail to the one specified by way of an example, and to which the protection provided will likewise extend, on condition that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed or modified.
