(54) Electric hairdryer with a white light emitting device

(57) An electric hairdryer comprises a white light emitting device capable of irradiating a full spectrum light beam. The white light beam, emitted together with a conventional hot air flow, regenerates the hair bulbs, improves the hair drying and provides hair with an improved brightness.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to an electric hairdryer with a white light emitting device.

[0002] As is known, the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum is the sole frequency range to which human eye is sensitive.

[0003] To different wavelength, and accordingly frequency, visible radiations, all the different rainbow colors correspond.

[0004] The human eye has its maximum sensitivity in the range from the shortest (violet) wavelengths to the longest (red) ones, and this sensitivity quickly decreases at the range end values.

[0005] Visible light is suitable for exciting the energetic electronic status pattern.

[0006] If an article appears as a colored one, this is essentially due to the fact that the article surface atoms and molecules can absorb a portion, that is some wavelengths, of the light impinging thereon, thereby bringing the surface electrons to a higher energetic level.

[0007] The intrinsic color assumed by the article depends on the surface material and is controlled by color addition and subtraction rules: in fact, it consists of the non-absorbed light which, by bouncing back from the article, impinges on the human eye, which decodifies said non-absorbed light to provide the article color.

[0008] A simultaneous presence of all visible wavelengths, in amounts proportional to those of the sunlight, forms the so-called "white light".

[0009] It has long been known that light may affect the scalp and hair in general.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0010] The aim of the present invention is to provide a hairdryer designed for exploiting the benefic effect of light on a person's scalp.

[0011] Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the invention is to provide such a hairdryer apparatus which may be used as a conventional hairdryer, while having improved operating characteristics.

[0012] Another object of the invention is to provide such a hairdryer with an improving hair drying capability.

[0013] Yet a further object of the invention is to provide such a hairdryer adapted to regenerate the hair bulb.

[0014] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a hairdryer providing the processed hair with an improved brightness.

[0015] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a hairdryer which, owing to its specifically constructional features, is very reliable and safe in operation.

[0016] According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by an electric hairdryer characterized in that said electric hairdryer comprises a white light emitting device adapted to emit a light beam, in a full light spectrum, while preventing UV radiation from being emitted.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0017] Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following disclosure of a preferred, though not exclusive, embodiment of the invention, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative but not limitative example, in the accompanying drawings, where:

Figure 1 is a partially cross sectioned side elevation view showing an electric hairdryer according to the present invention;

Figure 2 is a longitudinal cross-section view, on an enlarged scale with respect to Figure 1, showing the air outlet mouth region of the hairdryer; and

Figure 3 is a front elevation view of the air outlet mouth of Figure 2.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0018] With reference to the number references of the above mentioned figures, the electric hairdryer according to the present invention, which has been generally indicated by the reference number 1, comprises a pistol gripping portion 2, associated with a horizontal body 3 comprising an air inlet mouth portion 4 and an air outlet mouth portion 5, said portions being oppositely arranged on the same axis.

[0019] Said horizontal body 3 includes therein a motor assembly 6, a ventilating fan 7 and an electric resistance 8.

[0020] The vertical gripping or handle portion 2 comprises a plurality of control push buttons 9.

[0021] According to the present invention, at said air outlet mouth portion 5, a light emitting device, generally indicated by the reference number 10, is provided, and being preferably constituted by a LED 11 assembly associated with a supporting plate 12.

[0022] In this connection, it should be pointed out that light may be emitted from any suitable light source, either of a LED, fluorescent, halogen or incandescence type, provided that said light source is capable of emitting a full spectrum light beam.

[0023] The LED assembly or other light source is power supplied by conductors, encompassed by a protective sheath 13 and coupled to an electronic control card.

[0024] The electric hairdryer according to the present invention is used as a conventional hairdryer, while having an additional operating capability of providing a light emission controlled by a dedicated push button.

[0025] The light emitted by the light emitting device is preferably a white light, that is a full visible spectrum light, much more efficient than a discrete spectrum visible radiation.

[0026] The words "white light" are referred to that portion of the electromagnetic spectrum which is visible by a human eye, and has a wavelength from approximately 400 to 700 nanometers, that is a frequency from 750 to 430 Hz.

[0027] This wavelength range coincides with a center of the spectral region of the sunlight arriving on earth through the atmosphere.

[0028] The limits of the human eye visible spectrum may achieve 730 nanometers and 380 nanometers.

[0029] A simultaneous presence of all visible wavelengths, in an amount proportional to that of the sunlight, forms the above mentioned white light.

[0030] It has been found that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.

[0031] In fact, the invention has provided an electric hairdryer able of emitting, jointly with a conventional hot air flow, a white light beam, regenerating the hair bulbs, while improving hair drying and providing hair with an increased brightness.

[0032] In practicing the invention, the used materials, as well as the contingent size may be any, depending on requirements.
