(54) Connection segmented parts brush core

(57) The invention relates to an improved mutual connection (1) of the double walled segmental parts (2,3,4) of a brush core and comprises block shaped thick lips (5,6) with zigzag shaped support ssurfaces (7,8). The joining ribs (14,15; 16,17; 18,19) are as well thickened for a better transference of the force, so that no metal fatigue occurs. The whole of the connection is locked by an inbus screw (12). By the described features a very stable ring connection is obtained for the various double walled segmental parts (2,3,4) with different diameters of a brush core for brush machines being in use for large surfaces, such as e.g. take off and landing ways of airfields.

Description

[0001] The invention relates to the mutual connection of the segmental shaped brush core parts , to wit the mutual connection of double walled segmental shaped parts of a brush core, in which in the mounted position said brush core is in the shape of a roller either a cylinder, in which connecting blocks are provided to the outer wall of the double walled segmental shaped parts so that a roller either cylindrical shaped brush roller is obtained for a broad brush machine for removing down-beat, such as snow, of large surfaces.

[0002] Such a connection is known from the Dutch patent application "Improved brush core" No. 1039607, filed May 15, 2012 by KOTI Onroerend Goed B.V., Celsiusstraat 18, 6003 DG Weert, Netherland. Said Dutch patent application is converted into an European patent application No. 13001562.1/EP13001562 at March 26, 2013.In this it relates to a brush core being composed of cylindrical segmental shaped parts being double walled and consisting of an inner and outer wall. The inner and outer wall are connected to each other by means of relatively thin ribs. Said cylindrical segmental shaped parts are mutual connected with relatively thin block shaped parts with zigzag running support surfaces. Through said zigzag running support surfaces a bore is made through which a screw with nut is provided for mutual coupling the cylindrical segmental shaped parts.

[0003] Said described connection is having objections in the way that when the formed brush core is used , by the relative thin ribs and the block shaped parts the mounted brush core, provided with the brush elements, is relatively bending weak as well in the radial as in the longitudinal direction. Beside this there are disadvantages in relation to the mutual mounting of the cylindrical segmental shaped parts in view of the fact that said nut either the shaft of the screw has to be anual fitted from the inside in the mounted tube shaped brush core.

[0004] The object of the present invention is to provide such a modified and improved connection of said cylindrical segmental shaped parts that the disadvantages, described above, are removed and in which as well said improved connection can be put on the market in an economical responsible way.

[0005] To this end the segment connection of the brush core according to the invention is further developed such that it is characterized in that the mutual connection of the double walled segmental shaped parts consists of block shaped thick lips with zigzag running support surfaces , forming one whole with the thicker executed ribs to obtain a connection of the inner and outer wall of the double walled segmental shaped parts with a higher bending strength.

[0006] The advantage is that the capacity in respect of the bending strength of the formed brush core is substantial and is sufficiently increased such that the brush core will hardly be deformed in use and the quality of the brushing will fulfil high requirements.

[0007] Further the segment connection of the brush core according to the invention is improved further being characterized in that in radial direction in at least said lower thick lip screw thread is provided and that the upper thick lip is provided with at least one bore for screw shaft and screw head as e.g. for inbus screws.

[0008] The advantage is that a fast, easy and economic accountable production and mounting is possible.

[0009] Now the segment connection of the brush core according to the invention is further developed and characterized in that below the lower thick lip a rectangular space remains so that in this, together wwith a rectangular space in the drive roller of the brush machine, a flat inlay key can be received.

[0010] The advantage is that a flat key groove can be obtained for a rotation fast mounting on the drive roller of the brush machine.

[0011] The invention is further elucidated on hand of a preferred embodiment shown in the drawing. In this shows:

Fig. 1 a cross section of the connection of the double walled segmental parts for a brush core according to a preferred embodiment;

Fig. 2 a cross section of a complete double walled segmental part for a brush core consisting of 8 components;

Fig. 3 a cross section of the brush core according to fig. 2;

Fig. 4 a cross section of a complete double walled segmental part for a brush core consisting of 7 components;

Fig. 5 a cross section of the brush core according to fig. 4;

Fig. 6 a cross section of a complete double walled segmental part for a brush core consisting of 4 components; and

Fig. 7 a crosss section of the brush core according to fig. 6.

[0012] In figure 1 the mutual connection 1 of two double walled segmental parts 2, 3 and 4 is shown in detail (see also the figures 2 up to 7). The double walled segmental parts 2, 3, 4 are mounted to obtain a cylindrical brush core 3 according to the figures 3, 5 and 7. The mutual connection 1 of two succeeding double walled segmental parts 2, 3, 4 is always executed according to figure 1. The cross section of the double walled segmental parts 2, 3, 4 is executed differently. This is caused by the different outer diameters, such as of figure 3 (8 components) circa 618 mm, figure 5 (7 components) circa 538 mm and of figure 7 (4 components) circa 374 mm. Said different diameters are used for the various brush machines being in use. It relates always to cross sections according to the shown preferred embodiments (see figures 2, 4, 6), in which the mutual connection 1 is shown in figure 1. The mutual connection 1 consists of the block shaped thick lips 5 and 6 with zigzag running bended support surfaces 7, 8, enclosing an angle of about 135 degrees. The zigzag shaped bended support surfaces 7, 8 are serving for a good radial enclosing of the double walled segmental parts 2, 3, 4 when forming the cylindrical brush core 9, 10 and 11 (see the figures 3, 5 and 7). See also EP 13001562 for a first embodiment.

[0013] In at least the lower lip 6 screw thread is provided for the inbus screw 12, preferable being fabricated of stainless steel. The inbus screw 12, centre to centre about 100 upto 200 mm, connects the double walled segmental parts 2, 3, 4 to one another to a ring shaped cross section of the brush core. The double walled segmental shaped parts 2, 3, 4 in principle are of aluminium and are obtained by means of an extruding process. Further below the lower lip 6 a rectangular space 13 is present, together with a similar rectangular space of the drive disk of the brush machine (not shown) forming a radial enclosing of a flat inlay key. Further the ribs 14,15; 16,17; 18, 19 are thickened in its height in respect of the ribs 20, 21, 22. The middle ribs 23, 24, 25 are provided with a circular opening for receiving screw thread for the radial enclosing with the (not shown) drive disk of the brush machkine. Further the outer walls 26, 27, 28 and the inner walls 29, 30, 31 of the double walled segmental parts 2, 3, 4 are having the same thickness of about 6 mm. The solid connecting blocks 32 for receiving the brush elements (not shown) are forming one whole with the outer walls of the figures 2, 3, 4 directly with the outer wall 26 either the more solid parts 33, 34.

[0014] In the way as described above a brush core for a brush machine with a very high bending strength in longitudinal and cross direction is obtained.

[0015] Finally it has to be pointed out that a preferred embodiment of the cylindrical brush core 3 is described above and that it is self-evident that further modifications are possible without leaving the scope of this patent specification.
