[0001] The present invention refers to security gates or similar
Preliminary statement: in order to understand in a better way the innovation of our
invention, we would like to point out that most of the commercialized existing gates
may be splitted in three main categories. The first one refers to gates with horizontal
(sliding) opening, occupying the same space or major space at the side of the gate,
the second one refers to hinged gates with doors usually mounted with hinges on one
or two side columns/pillars with the possibility to turn round them occupying inside
or outside space with the width dimension of the door which is opened.
[0002] Besides these ones (well known) there is a third type of gates which has not so much
use and refers to vertical sliding gates which hide into the ground when it is opened.
[0003] This kind of gate, indeed, is known for its difficult installation with expensive
and complicated mounting. In most cases, this type of gate, before the installation,
need a "structure" or better a realization in cement in the underground with a major
depth compared to the height of the gate.
[0004] The width of the hole realized is visible in its big dimension in order to enable
the cleaning and the maintenance in case of problems.
[0005] The construction of the gate made in one single part and its effective realization
has a considerable disadvantage regarding the production, the transport and the following
installation of the product which makes it an expensive and complicated realization
which does not fit to industrial production. However, exists a type of gate which
enters in the underground occupying a smaller space, but due to the difficult realization
and installation it is not popular.
[0006] A customary gate according to the preamble of the present claim 1 is described in
FR2843163A1. That being stated, the invention as defined in the present claim 1 refers to the
last type mentioned and will have as main purpose the realization of a casing which
may contain the gate in open position in order to be realized, commercialized and
installed in a simple and economic way aimed for serial industrial production, creating
a new kind of gate called compact gate.
[0007] In order to better describe the invention and its advantage, we refer to some enclosed
technical and not definitive drawing as example, described in the following figures:
figure: 1 Representation of the gate overall view or similar in closed position.
figure: 2 Representation of the gate overall view or similar in open position
figure: 3 Front view of the closed and open position of the gate or similar.
figure : 4 Side view of the columns with up and down mechanism.
figure : 5 Overall view of the possible movement in order to organize the transport
system and the moving of the gate.
figure : 6 Illustration of the whole delivered base system for the installation and
the construction of the product where the gate is mounted.
figure: 7 Overall view of how the gate gets installed and of the manufactured article
after its realization.
[0008] As already mentioned, the present invention refers to security gates or similar with
vertical opening (re. figure 1) normally used in houses and buildings.
[0009] The present invention supplies a casing suited for containing a compact gate which
is retractable in the underground (S). This gate, indeed, when it is open (with open
we mean when you may step over it) occupies a space (h2) in the underground which
is less compared to the height of the gate when it is closed (h1) (re. figure n. 2).
[0010] The present invention shortens and simplifies considerably the time for the installation
and the positioning of the gate in the underground.
[0011] In order to understand the invention, we hereby explain the opening and closing working
of the gate which is moved by a motor (1) connected to an electronic circuit and a
belt (2) able to regulate the speed obtaining in this way security. However, there
may be used other movement types like: hydraulic pistons, motor with racks, toothed
belts with shaft, linear runners, scissor mechanism or similar for moving the gate
in open and closed position in the specially shaped casing, keeping however the volume
dimension (h2) smaller than height of the gate (h1). Refering to figures n. (2) -
(3).
[0012] In order to get this volume dimension, the gate is produced as follows: there are
specially shaped profiles (3) actioned by motor (1) with belt (2) which are moved
from closed position (h1) to open position (h2) by sliding inside the side runners
(4) with rollers (5) and getting superposed one over the other (6) they get inside
the casing (9) guaranteeing a compact space occupied in the underground (h2) which
is smaller than the height of the gate (h1). (Re. figure n. 4), all this installed
in a specially shaped casing (17).
[0013] The casing (17) may also be realized previously with the suitable dimensions for
containing the gate during the installation and fixing phase for being positioned
in the underground afterwards. Before or after the installation phase, there may be
used a system like in the drawings (14) (15) (16), described as follows: realizing
a pattern (16) in which may be inserted the hard material (for example fencing/crate
out of metal/metal bars) (14) and other patterns (15) for the probable fixing of the
gate on the ground, all filled up with material which is resistant to the crossing
of vehicles (concrete / cement / etc.) guaranteeing an 'excellent container' for the
installation of the gate.
[0014] In case of gates of big dimensions or in order to facilitate the transport reducing
the costs, the casing (17) may be realized in a modular shape.
[0015] These profiles (3) may be realized or equipped with particular applications for energy
recovery, for example with panels or photovoltaic material.
[0016] For the protection of the shaped profiles (3) in their compact position, we realize
a specially shaped profile on the upper side (7) which allows the crossing of the
gate in this position.
[0017] A shaped profile downside (8) enables the down-flow of the water to the outside of
the casing (9) where the profiles are positioned (3).
[0018] The functioning of the profile (8) is described as follows: when the gate moves from
the open position to the closed position, it comes out of the casing (9) and so neither
water nor other things may get in. The other way around, when the gate moves from
the closed to the open position, it slides and rotates inside the casing (9) leaving
the space to put in position the profile (7). In order to simplify and reduce the
moving and transport costs of the gate, there may be inserted/mounted an articulation
(12) which enables the columns to move from position (11) to position (10) with considerable
volume reduction.
[0019] For the electrical connection there should be made in this working stadium a tube
(which is normally used by the electricians) on the side ends in order to contain
the electrical connection of the gate after its positioning and for the starting of
the photocells and the advising lights of the functioning system; all this will offer
a high value of security.
[0020] In order to simplify the installation of the gate, there are special holders (13)
mounted/introduced for shifting and positioning it on the ground or inside the special
manufactured article (17). After our technical explanation with the help of drawings,
we would like to describe and resume its functioning as follows. First, you have to
start the excavation of the ground (with limited dimensions) where have to be positioned
the casing (17) previously realized suited for containing and installing the gate
or (B) for realizing the casing (17) with the patterns (14) (15) (16) aimed for containing
the gate and for preparing it for floor fixing and installation. Once finished this
working stadium, the gate may be positioned directly and fixed on the ground with
special bolts. It will be enough to connect the electrical part with a socket and
everything will function. The gate, indeed, will be totally tested, regulated and
prepared for the transport and its use directly in our firm in order to avoid and
simplify not necessary costs of installation and transport.
[0021] The gate with this type of construction and its consisting parts, may be changed
regarding the materials, the shape and the dimensions which won't, however, alter
its functionality as in our previous description.

forming said gate panel; in the open position of the gate (H2),the profiles (3) are
stored in the case (9) thereby forming a stack such that the height (H2) of the panel
stack is smaller than the height (H1) of the gate panel, characterized in that the gate is prefabricated and provides a reduced transport volume by means of an
