The invention refers to a barbell which is used to train the human body.

Every one of us can use barbells, either at the gym or in any other place, in order to improve our physical condition through various movements which can be achieved with the barbell. A common barbell makes the movement of each exercise difficult because of the weight it bears or the weight added by the user.

The advantage of this particular barbell is that while doing any exercise the user simultaneously activates the chest muscles, the back muscles, the shoulder blade and other muscles, by pushing the springs inwards or outwards with the cylindrical handgrips. Hence, doing one sole exercise the user can have many muscle groups activated, since several movements are combined within one exercise. We could state that this barbell with embodied springs for collateral resistance is a functional barbell, because many muscle groups partake in the same exercise. As a result this barbell can simulate average daily movements.

During the exercise we hold the barbell from the cylindrical handgrips and perform any given exercise. If we push the springs inwards, we not only train the chest area but ALSO the back area along with other muscle groups the exercise itself focuses on. Accordingly, if we push the springs outwards, we experience the simultaneous training of many muscle groups. The push can be isometric (stable pressure on one area) or isotonic (constant movement with fluctuation of the muscle length). The springs can be of any shape and the resistance weight can also vary. This way, we can perform hundreds of exercises taking advantage of the spring resistance and of course gravity.

We could have the same results, using a barbell with four bands instead of four springs, or even one with air pressure or hydraulic pressure, which would allow the in-and-outwards move of the handgrips along the barbell.

In draft 1 the invention is depicted. According to the invention, the collateral resistance embodied springs barbell consists of a bar (1), four resistance springs (2) of equal resistance (the inner springs could possibly have different amount of resistance to the outer ones), two cylindrical handgrips (3) and three closure washers (4). The bar is a single piece of equipment and comes through the springs and the handgrips. At the two ends of the bar there are closure washers, one to each end, to mark the external weights. Additionally, there is a closure washer in the middle of the bar, to ensure that the bar will remain stable during the pressure of the inner springs and to prevent any possible slip. No piece is attached to any other piece except for the closure washers, which are attached to the bar.
