FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a roman shade, and more particularly, to a roman
shade with covering members which hide the connection rope.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] One of conventional curtains is the Roman shade which includes has one end connected
to the top box and the shade has multiple transverse passages defined therethrough.
Rods pass through the passages to form multiple sections separated by the rods. There
are rings fixed to the seams of the passages. A connection rope is cooperated with
the control mechanism located in the top box of the Roman shade and the two ends of
the connection rope extend through holes defined through the bottom of the top box
and pass through the rings and are fixed to the lower end of the shade. Two control
ropes each are cooperated with the control mechanism and located on two sides of the
shade so that when the user pulls either one of the two control ropes, the control
mechanism is operated to pull connection rope so that the shade is lifted section
by section.
[0003] The control ropes are freely hanging on two sides of the shade and these control
ropes may trap kids' limbs if kids play the control ropes. Once the kids are trapped
by the control ropes, the result might be a disaster.
[0004] In order to improve the shortcomings mentioned above, some of the curtains are developed
to be equipped with a cordless control mechanism which do not have the exposed control
ropes and the user simply move the bottom bar to set the curtain.
[0005] However, the connection rope of the shade is visible on the shade from the top box
to the bottom bar, and the exposed connection rope does not meet the users' requirements
of the interior design.
[0006] The present invention intends to provide a Roman shade wherein the connection rope
is hidden by covering members which are positioned by way of sewing on the shade.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The present invention relates to a Roman shade and comprises a top box in which a
control mechanism is located. A shade has a top end connected to the top box. A connection
rope has the first end thereof connected to the lower end of the shade, and the second
end of the connection rope is connected to the shade and cooperated with the control
mechanism in the top box. The second end of the connection rope eventually connected
to the lower end of the shade. At least one covering member is sewed to the shade
at multiple positions and located at the inside of the shade to cover the connection
rope which is not visible from the inside of the shade. The at least one covering
member is connected to the inside of the shade and comprises a first part and a second
part. The first end of each of the first and second parts is connected to the top
box, and the second end of each of the first and second parts is connected to the
lower end of the shade. The connection rope is located between the first and second
parts, and the second part is located between the shade and the connection rope.
[0008] Preferably, the first and second parts are sewed to the shade at multiple sewing
positions.
[0009] Preferably, at least one covering member is an elongate member which is sewed to
the shade at the multiple sewing positions located on two sides thereof.
[0010] Preferably, the at least one covering member is a piece of fabric.
[0011] The primary object of the present invention is to provide a Roman shade with hidden
connection rope which is covered by at least one covering member so that the connection
rope is not exposed.
[0012] The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when
taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration
only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0014] Referring to Figs. 1 to 4, the Roman shade of the present invention comprises a top
box 12 in which a control mechanism (not shown) is located. A shade 10 has the top
end thereof connected to the top box 12 and the lower end can be lowered relative
to the top box 12.
[0015] A connection rope 22 has the first end thereof connected to the lower end of the
shade 10, and the second end of the connection rope 22 is connected to the shade 10
and cooperated with the control mechanism in the top box 12, the second end of the
connection rope 22 then extends out from the top box 12 and is connected to the lower
end of the shade 10. When the user pushes bottom bar at the lower end of the shade
10, the control mechanism operates the connection rope 22 so that the shade 10 is
lifted and positioned at the desired position when the user releases the bottom bar.
The shade 10 is lowered when the user pulls the bottom bar downward.
[0016] Two covering members 30 are connected to the inside of the shade 10 and each comprise
a first part 31 and a second part 32. In this embodiment, each of the covering members
30 is a piece of fabric. The first end of each of the first and second parts 31, 32
is connected to the top box 12, and the second end of each of the first and second
parts 31, 32 is connected to the lower end of the shade 10. The connection rope 22
is located between the first and second parts 31, 32, and the second part 32 is located
between the shade 10 and the connection rope 22. The covering members 30 each are
an elongate member. The first and second parts 31, 32 are sewed to the shade 10 at
multiple sewing positions 40. In detail, each of the covering members 30 is an elongate
member which is sewed to the shade 10 at the sewing positions 40 located on two sides
thereof.
[0017] The covering members 30 each are wide enough to completely hide the connection rope
22 from the people in the room. Besides, the covering members 30 also decorate the
shade 10. As shown in Fig. 5, when the user lifts and collects the shade 10, the shade
10 is lifted and folded at the sewing positions 40.
