ERGONOMIC PYJAMAS

Abstract

 The object of the invention is an ergonomic pyjamas (1) comprising at least one piece of textile material (2) and at least one supporting element (4, 5, 6, 7) attached to the at least one piece of textile material (2) in an area selected from knees, ankles, lumbar region and combination thereof of a user, in order to provide an ergonomically correct position when the user lies in lateral decubitus or dorsal decubitus position. The at least one supporting piece is made in a material selected from foam, viscoelastic material, or a combination thereof.

Description

Object of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to pyjamas that improve body position in dorsal or lateral decubitus position when one is lying on a bed, as said pyjamas incorporates pieces for correcting the body position, which, in the above-mentioned positions, place the body in a more ergonomic posture. The object of the invention is applicable in the textile industry.

Technical problem to be solved and background of the invention

[0002] A very high percentage of the population usually lies on a bed in dorsal decubitus position or lateral decubitus position. In these positions, the human body, due to its bone structure, with the curved spine and two legs anchored to the trunk, with the two legs being separated by the pelvis, do not fully rest on the horizontal surface of the bed on which one usually sleeps. This difference between the natural posture of the body and the posture that is acquired on a horizontal bed surface generates tension and stress in the joints and lumbar region that generate discomfort during time of rest, and ultimately leads to reduced sleep quality and continuous pains in the body during the day.

[0003] Although mattresses have evolved in the type of materials and some of them try to correct the body position when lying on the mattress, due to the position of rest adopted by the majority of the population (dorsal decubitus or lateral decubitus) overstrain is usually the result in the time of rest that leads to discomfort and pains during the day.

[0004] Specifically in the dorsal decubitus position, because of gravity knees tend to fall onto the mattress stretching the leg and causing the locking of the knees and the resulting tension on the joint. In that position with the legs stretched out and the knees locked, natural curvature of the spine is accentuated in the lumbar region. This accentuation of the natural curvature of the spine creates tension and muscle discomfort during sleeping time, which can be extended during the day.

[0005] Specifically in the lateral decubitus position, the upper leg, due to the effect of gravity, tends to fall onto the lower one, bringing the knees together. In that position, the outer area of the leg and waist is negatively affected, causing tension and discomfort in the lumbar region and wear in joints.

[0006] For years, rheumatologists, physiotherapists and doctors, in general, have recommended sleeping with a cushion between or under the knees, depending on the lateral decubitus or dorsal decubitus position adopted. The function of the cushion is to correct the body posture to compensate the problems that arise in adapting the natural curvature of the body to the almost flat surface of the beds.

Summary of the invention

[0007] The invention described discloses a pyjamas comprising a plurality of ergonomic foam pieces that compensate some areas of the body in order to bring them to a more natural position and ensuring that they remain in place through the performing of its function overnight.

[0008] The ergonomic pyjamas object of the invention, comprise at least one piece of textile material and at least one supporting element attached to the at least one piece of textile material in an area selected from knees, ankles, lumbar region and combination thereof of a user, in order to provide an ergonomically correct position when the user lies in lateral decubitus or dorsal decubitus position.

[0009] The ergonomic pyjamas object of the invention, comprise at least one inner supporting piece for the knees that is fixed to the at least one piece of textile material in the area of the user's knees.

Figure 4 is a side view of a person in dorsal decubitus position wearing the pair of pyjamas object of the invention, which shows how in such areas where tension was generated before, disappear through the use of the pyjamas object of the invention.

Preferred mode for carrying out the invention

[0019] As already indicated, and as it can be seen in the figures, the object of the invention is a pair of pyjamas (1) comprising a piece of textile material (2) and a plurality of supporting pieces (4, 5, 6, 7) attached to the piece of textile material (2), such that once a user is wearing the pair of pyjamas (1) they are located in correspondence with certain pieces of the body of said user by complementing those parts of the body when it lies on a horizontal surface (3), either in dorsal decubitus position or in lateral decubitus position, providing support with better ergonomics and increasing the user's quality of rest and well-being.

[0020] When a person rests in lateral decubitus position on a horizontal surface (3), the position of the legs with respect to the spine generates areas of overstrain in the lumbar region, gluteus muscles and leg joints, as can be seen in Figure 1. In Figure 1 the separation of the legs joined to the trunk (D), defined by the pelvis, does not match the distance between the knees (d) can be seen. This discrepancy between the two distances generates the mentioned overstrain.

[0021] The pair of pyjamas (1) object of the invention comprises, among the plurality of supporting pieces, inner supporting pieces (4) for the knees which compensate the separation of the legs joined to the trunk (D) and the distance (d) between the knees, and also comprises supporting pieces (5) for the ankles holding a leg position one with respect to the other, thus avoiding overstrain in the lumbar region, gluteus muscles and leg joints, as can be seen in Figure 2. Through the pair of pyjamas (1), object of the invention, an ergonomic body position with the body resting in the lateral decubitus position is generated and maintained.

[0022] Also, when one rests in dorsal decubitus position on a horizontal surface (3), the knees of the body are placed in a position close to the horizontal surface (3) on which they rest, this position of knees accentuating a curvature of the lumbar region, which is prejudicial for the support of said lumbar region on the horizontal surface (3), as can be seen in Figure 3. Furthermore, the lowering of the knees produces a locking in the user's patellas.

[0023] To improve the position of the body when one rests in dorsal decubitus position, the pair of pyjamas (1), object of the invention, comprises rear supporting pieces (6) for the knees and a supporting piece (7) for the lumbar region, which, as it can be seen in Figure 4, lift the knees with respect to the horizontal surface (3) on which the user's body rests, by avoiding locking of the patellas and attenuating the lumbar curvature, which results in a relaxation of the user's lumbar region.

[0024] The inner supporting pieces (4) for the knees comprise a crescent-shaped cross section, embracing the leg with this cross section shape in the knee area, and comprise a length, which extends to cover the aforementioned knee area in its entirety.

[0025] The supporting pieces (5) for the ankles comprise a crescent-shaped cross section and a length that extends, with the pair of pyjamas (1) in the user's body, from the calf muscle areas until the end of the pair of pyjamas (1). They also comprise a recess (8) at one end for being placed on the user's ankle.

[0026] The rear supporting pieces (6) for the knees comprise a cross section with a curved side (9) and a straight side (10), where the straight side (10) rests on the horizontal surface (3) and the curved side (9) is situated in the back of the knee of the user when wearing the pair of pyjamas (1). The rear supporting pieces (6) for the knees provide support to the knees and separate the knees from the horizontal surface (3) on which they rest with the body in dorsal decubitus position, thus reducing the tension in joints and avoiding the locking of said patellas.

[0027] The supporting piece (7) for the lumbar region comprises a crescent-shaped cross section, with dimensions that vary according to the size of the user of the pair of pyjamas (1) since this supporting piece (7) for the lumbar region surrounds the user's waist, and depending on the size of the user, the dimensions of the supporting piece (7) for the lumbar region are different.

[0028] All the supporting pieces (4, 5, 6, 7) are made from a material that is able to absorb small deformations to which this material is subject to, by being adaptable to the user's body and the horizontal surface (3) and providing a pleasant touch, with materials with anti-allergic properties or anti-allergic treatments. The material from which these pieces are made is a material to be selected from polyurethane foam, viscoelastic material and combination thereof.

[0029] The supporting pieces (4, 5, 6, 7) are adhered to the piece of textile material (2) at the inner side of the piece of textile material (2). Additionally the supporting pieces (4, 5, 6, 7) are lined inside with another textile element to avoid direct contact between the material of the supporting pieces (4, 5, 6, 7) and the skin of the user of the pair of pyjamas (1).

[0030] The attachment of the supporting pieces (4, 5, 6, 7) is made like a "closed pocket" with the textile element, thus reducing the risk of allergies and annoyances for the user of the pair of pyjamas (1) object of the invention.

[0031] The invention should not be limited to the particular mode for carrying out the invention described in this document. Those skilled in the art can develop other modes for carrying out the invention in view of the description made herein. Accordingly, the scope of the invention is defined by the following claims.

Claims

1. Ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), characterized in that it comprises at least one piece of textile material (2) and at least one supporting piece (4, 5, 6, 7) attached to the at least one piece of textile material (2) in an area selected from knees, ankles, lumbar and combination thereof of a user, in order to provide an ergonomically correct position when the user lies in lateral decubitus or dorsal decubitus position.

2. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises at least one inner supporting piece (4) for the knees that is fixed to the at least one piece of textile material (2) in the area of the user's knees.

3. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to any of previous claims, characterized in that it comprises at least one supporting piece (5) for the ankles that is fixed to the at least one piece of textile material (2) in the area of the user's ankles.

4. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to any of previous claims, characterized in that it comprises at least one rear supporting piece (6) for the knees that is fixed to the at least one piece of textile material (2) in the area of the user's knees.

5. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to any of previous claims, characterized in that it comprises at least one supporting piece (7) for the lumbar region that is fixed to the at least one piece of textile material (2) in the user's lumbar region.

6. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to any of claims 2-5, characterized in that the inner supporting piece (4) for the knees comprises a crescent-shaped cross-section.

7. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to any of claims 3-6, characterized in that the supporting piece (5) for the ankles comprises a crescent-shaped cross-section presenting a recess (8) at one end to accommodate the ankle.

8. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to any of claims 4-7, characterized in that the rear supporting piece (6) for the knees comprises a cross section presenting a curved side (9) and a straight side (10), such that the straight side (10) rests on the horizontal surface (3) and the curved side (9) is situated at the rear area of the knees.

9. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to any of claims 5-8, characterized in that the supporting piece (7) for the lumbar region comprises a crescent-shaped cross-section.

10. The ergonomic pair of pyjamas (1), according to any of previous claims, characterized in that the at least one inner supporting piece (4) for the knees, the at least one supporting piece (5) for the ankles, the at least one rear supporting piece (6) for the knees and the at least one supporting piece (7) for the lumbar region are made of a material to be selected from polyurethane foam, viscoelastic material, and combination thereof.
