BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a wine or other beverage vessel writable construction.
[0002] More specifically, the invention relates to a writable glass bottle for wine and
other beverages.
[0003] As is known, wine makers bottle their wines in bottles which are held, for a time,
in a wine cellar before their final labelling.
[0004] The wine bottle labelling operation is conventionally made as the wine bottles are
shipped.
[0005] In the bottled wine ageing step, before labelling, the wine bottles are identified,
depending on the wine contained therein, by using wine bottle identifying means, such
as simple tags applied to the wine bottle frame or cage assembly.
[0006] Each individual wine bottle is sometimes identified by an adhesive label on which
is written, by a pen, information related to the bottle contents.
[0007] Bottle labels are moreover known, for use in wine selling shops or cellars, on which
it is possible to write by hand information such as the wine name, maker, year, price
or any other desired information to be accessed without examining the real label.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The aim of the present invention is to provide such a vessel for wines or other drinks
or beverages, allowing a user to directly write on its surface by chalks or other
writing instruments.
[0009] Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the invention is to
provide such a glass wine or other beverage bottle having a surface on which a user
may write information by conventional writing instruments.
[0010] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a wine or other beverage
bottle on which a user may manually write by a chalk of a type used for writing on
a blackboard.
[0011] According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects,
which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a beverage vessel construction,
characterized in that said beverage vessel construction comprises an outer surface
so machined at least partially as to provide said surface with a roughness or texture
allowing said surface to be written upon by a conventional writing instrument.
[0012] According to the present invention, the bottle is a glass bottle and is characterized
in that said bottle has an outer surface which is either fully or partially machined
or textured to provide said surface with such a roughness and/or porosity or texture
to be written upon by a chalk, pencil, marking pen, or other conventional writing
instruments.
[0013] The bottle thus made can be easily identified by providing thereon information related,
for example, to the grapes type, wine year or any other useful information.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0014] Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more
apparent hereinafter from the following disclosure of a preferred, though not exclusive,
embodiment of the invention which is illustrated, by way of an indicative but not
limitative example, in the accompanying drawings, where:
Figure 1 is a front elevation view of a textured bottle according to the present invention;
Figure 2 is a further front elevation view of the inventive bottle, on which a hand
of a user is writing identification letters; and
Figure 3 is a further front view of the inventive bottle with further letters added
to those shown in Figure 2.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0015] With reference to the accompanying figures and, more specifically, to Figure 1, is
herein shown a wine or other beverage bottle, generally indicated by the reference
number 1.
[0016] Said bottle comprises a top bottle portion 2 and a bottom bottle portion 3, which
are separated, by way of an example, by a circumferential line 4.
[0017] The bottle further comprises a top bottle plug 5 and a bottle neck zone 6 defined
by a substantially circular front surface.
[0018] According to the present invention, substantially the overall outer surface of the
bottle 1 is so machined or textured as to provide it with a roughened texture.
[0019] Such a roughened texture, with the bottle 1 being preferably made of a glass material,
may be achieved by any suitable machining or texturing method, such as, for example,
chemical or mechanical machining methods which would be very well known to one skilled
in the art.
[0020] In Figure 2 the inventive bottle is shown with some letters ("Can" in this instance)
being written on the top portion 2 of the bottle by a user hand 7 gripping a conventional
pencil 8.
[0021] Figure 3 shows the inventive bottle in which, in addition to and under the letters
"Can", further letters ("Pog" in this instance) have been written.
[0022] It should be apparent that the above disclosed bottle allows to easily and quickly
manually write, on its textured outer surface, by a conventional writing instrument,
such as a pencil, chalk or marking pen, any information useful for identifying, for
example, the wine type, in particular during the bottling operating step, while allowing,
after years from bottling, to easily identify the bottled wine.
[0023] Moreover, the inventive bottle also provides a novel identifying system, in particular
a customized one, with special aesthetic features not provided in conventional labelling
systems.
[0024] In fact, the identifying information may also be written or impressed on the surfaces
by permanent substances, for example a conventional indelible marking pen, preventing
the written information from fading away.
[0025] It has been found that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.
[0026] In fact, the invention has provided a beverage vessel, in particular a glass beverage
bottle, on the textured surface of which a user may manually write information by
chalks, marking pens or any other conventional writing instrument.
[0027] To highlight the written information on the bottle surface, said surface may also
be made in colours contrasting with that of the writing chalk or other writing means
used to customize the marked bottles.
[0028] In practicing the invention, the used materials, as well as the contingent size and
shapes, can be any, depending on requirements.
1. A beverage or wine vessel construction, characterized in that said beverage vessel construction comprises an outer surface at least partially machined
with a surface roughness or texture suitable to be written upon by a conventional
chalk or any other conventional writing instrument.
2. A beverage or wine vessel construction, according to claim 1, characterized in that said vessel is a wine glass bottle.
3. A beverage or wine vessel construction, according to one or more of the preceding
claims, characterized in that said vessel construction surface is machined or textured in dark colours or other
colours contrasting with the chalk or other writing instrument colours, to clearly
identify the vessels or bottles and easily and quickly customize them.
