(54) LIGHT EMITTING ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING LIGHT EMITTING ELEMENT

(57) A light emitting element 100 includes a base member 40, a sealing member 101 disposed to face the base member 40, a concave-convex structure layer 142, a first electrode 92, an organic layer 94, a second electrode 98, and an adhesive layer 103. The concave-convex structure layer 142, the first electrode 92, the organic layer 94, and the second electrode 98 are formed on the base member 40 in that order. The adhesive layer 103 is positioned between the base member 40 and the sealing member 101. An outer periphery 142c of the concave-convex structure layer 142 is positioned between an inner periphery 103a and an outer periphery 103b of the adhesive layer 103. The light emitting element 100 includes the concave-convex structure layer 142 functioning as a diffracting grating, and thus light extraction efficiency thereof is excellent. Further, a light emitting part is sealed with sufficient sealing performance and deterioration of the light emitting part due to moisture and oxygen is prevented. Thus, the light emitting element 100 has a long service life.
