Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a lace wrap ring suitable to be applied to a hole formed in a fabric, leather, PVC and other materials.

[0002] As is known, several items of clothing, footwear or other are provided with eyelets, i.e. slots cut in the fabric inside of which a lace is threaded to obtain the fastening of the item of clothing, the shoe or other.

[0003] In certain applications in which a particularly robust eyelet is required, the eyelet can be contoured with ribbon, tape, leather or metal. In the case of eyelet made of metal, this typically comprises a head and a shank which is applied inside the hole in the fabric, and is then folded so as to secure it firmly to the fabric.

[0004] Alternatively, to obtain the fastening of the items of clothing, footwear or other, so-called "loopholes" are used, i.e. elements which are typically metallic which comprise a substantially hook-shaped portion. The passage of the lace through the loopholes, which are suitably arranged at the two ends of an opening on the item of clothing, of the footwear or other, allows to obtain the fastening thereof.

[0005] In view of the prior art, it is the object of the present invention to make an object for fastening items of clothing, footwear or other, which has the features of both the above mentioned objects.

[0006] In accordance with the present invention, said object is achieved by means of a lace wrap ring suitable to be applied to a hole formed in a material, said lace wrap ring characterized by comprising:
  • a first eyelet, comprising a head and a shank, suitable to be inserted into said hole from a first side of the material,
  • a suitably shaped washer suitable to be inserted externally to the shank of the first eyelet from a second side of material, which is opposite to the first side,
  • a second eyelet, also comprising a head and a shank, suitable to couple with the first eyelet with respective shanks thereof inserted in one another, with a distance between the heads such as to allow the winding of at least one lace around the outer shank.

[0007] The features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description of two practical embodiments thereof, shown by way of non-limiting examples in the accompanying drawings, in which:

figure 1 shows a lace wrap ring, according to the first embodiment of the present invention, suitable to be applied to a hole formed in a material;

figures 2 - 4 show successive steps for the application of the lace wrap ring in figure 1, to a hole formed in a material;

figure 5 shows a lace wrap ring, according to the second embodiment of the present invention, suitable to be applied to a hole formed in a material;

figures 6 - 10 show successive steps for the application of the lace wrap ring in figure 5, to a hole formed in a material.

[0008] FIG. 1 shows a lace wrap ring 1, according to a first embodiment of the present invention, suitable to be applied to a hole 200 formed in a material 201.

[0009] The lace wrap ring 1 comprises:
  • a first eyelet 2, comprising a head 3 and a shank 4, suitable to be inserted into said hole 200 from a first side of material 201,
  • a suitably shaped washer 5 suitable to be inserted externally to shank 4 of the first eyelet 2 from a second side of the material, which is opposite to the first side,
  • a second eyelet 6, also comprising a head 7 and a shank 8, suitable to couple with the first eyelet 2, with respective shanks 4, 8 thereof snappingly inserted in one another, with a distance D1 between the heads 3, 7 such as to allow the winding of at least one lace 202 around the outer shank 8.

[0010] In particular, shank 8 has a folded end 9 to facilitate coupling the second eyelet 6 with said first eyelet 2, so that shank 8 is inserted externally to shank 4 from the second side of the material. The second eyelet 6 is oriented with opposite direction with respect to the first eyelet 2, and the folded end 9 of the second eyelet 6 advantageously comes into contact with washer 5.

[0011] The application of the lace wrap ring 1 to hole 200 formed in material 201 occurs according to the following successive steps:
  • inserting the first eyelet 2 into hole 200 from a first side of material 201, e.g. the lower side (FIG. 2),
  • inserting a suitably shaped washer 5 externally to shank 4 of the first eyelet 2 from a second side of material 201, which is opposite to the first side (and therefore the upper side) (FIG. 3),
  • making a flap of end 9 of shank 8 of the second eyelet 6 (not shown in the drawings),
  • coupling the second eyelet 6 with the first eyelet 2, with the respective shanks 4, 8 snappingly inserted in one another, up to reaching distance D1 between the heads 3, 7 such as to allow the winding of lace 202 around the outer shank 8,
  • riveting the end of shank 4 of the first eyelet 2 onto the second eyelet 6. The latter operation is performed in order to ensure a solid coupling between first and second eyelets 2, 6.

[0012] As said above, shank 8 with folded end 9 of the second eyelet 6 is inserted externally to shank 4 of said first eyelet 2 from the second side of the material. The second eyelet 6 is oriented with opposite direction with respect to the first eyelet 2, and the folded end 9 of the second eyelet 6 advantageously comes into contact with washer 5.

[0013] FIG. 5 shows a lace wrap ring 101 according to a second embodiment of the present invention. The lace wrap ring 101 comprises:
  • a first eyelet 102, comprising a head 103 and a shank 104, suitable to be inserted into said hole 200 from a first side of material 201,
  • a suitably shaped washer 105 suitable to be inserted externally to shank 104 of the first eyelet 102 from a second side of material 201, which is opposite to the first side,
  • a second eyelet 106, also comprising a head 107 and a shank 108, suitable to couple with the first eyelet 102, with the respective shanks 104, 108 snappingly inserted in one another, with a distance D2 between the heads 103, 107 such as to allow the winding of lace 202 around the outer shank 108.

[0014] In particular, the first eyelet 102 has shank 104 folded over washer 105 after the insertion of the latter; moreover, shank 108 of the second eyelet 106 is inserted inside shank 104 of the first eyelet 102 from the first side of material 201. The second eyelet 106 in this case is oriented with the same direction with respect to the first eyelet 102, and has shank 108 with end 109 folded over shank 104 of the first eyelet 102 after the insertion.

[0015] The application of the lace wrap ring 101 to hole 200 formed in a material 201 occurs according to the following successive steps:
  • inserting the first eyelet 102 into hole 200 from the first side of material 201, e.g. the upper side in this case (FIG. 6),
  • inserting a suitably shaped washer 105 suitable to be inserted externally to shank 104 of the first eyelet 102 from a second side of material 201, which is opposite to the first side (and therefore in the lower side of material 201) (FIG. 7),
  • making a flap of shank 104 of the first eyelet 102 over washer 105 (FIG. 8),
  • coupling the second eyelet 106 with the first eyelet 102, with the respective shanks 104, 108 snappingly inserted in one another, up to reaching distance D2 between the heads 103, 107 such as to allow the winding of lace 202 around the outer shank 108,
  • making a flap of the end of shank 108 of the second eyelet 106 over folded shank 104 of the first eyelet 102 (FIG. 10).

[0016] As said above, shank 108 of the second eyelet 106 is inserted into the folded shank 104 of said first eyelet 102, from the first side of material 201 (FIG. 9). The second eyelet 106 is oriented with the same direction with respect to the first eyelet 106, and the end 109 of shank 108 is folded over shank 104 of the first eyelet 102 after the insertion.

[0017] The lace wrap ring 1, 101 can be used also in different shapes and sizes.

[0018] Within the scope of footwear, in addition to serving the function of causing the lace to pass inside hole 200, the lace wrap ring 1, 101 can also act as a loophole for lace 202 and subsequently allow a more secure and convenient fastening of the shoe. Moreover, once the lace is tied, the winding of lace 202 around ring 1, 101 allows lace 202 to be inserted therein, thus preventing it from touching the ground.

[0019] In clothing, such as for example sweatshirts, skirts or other, it can act as a normal eyelet, with lace 202 inserted into hole 200, or equally as loophole, thus facilitating the fastening of the item of clothing.

[0020] Finally, the lace wrap ring 1, 101 represents an object for fastening items of clothing, footwear or other, which simultaneously has the features of an eyelet and a loophole.
