BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a method for knitting a glove, and a glove.
Description of the Related Art
[0002] Attempts have been made to sew and knit finger tubes and four-finger body of a glove
while being bent toward a palm side in advance to prevent slack from occurring on
the palm side of the glove, thus enhancing the fitting property and enabling objects
to be easily grasped. For example, Patent Document 1 describes a glove that fits to
the hand, the glove being able to be held in a state curved toward the palm side by
knitting the center of the knitting width on the back side to a state in which the
number of stitches in a wale direction is large with respect to the center of the
knitting width on the palm side.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0004] However, in recent years, suitable gloves for gripping a grip such as sports gloves
to be used for golf, baseball, or bicycle are being desired by consumers. With advancement
in the diversification of the needs of gloves, the gloves obtained through the conventional
sewing and knitting techniques including that described in Patent Document 1 are not
suited for gripping the grip and hence are inadequate. Thus, a novel glove for gripping
the grip, different from the conventional gloves, is desired.
[0005] In light of the foregoing, it is an object of the present invention to provide a
method for knitting a glove curved to easily grip a grip, and a glove obtained through
such knitting method.
[Means for Solving the Problem]
[0006] The present invention relates to a method for knitting a glove including a thumb
tubular section, a four-finger body section, and a five-finger body section knitted
to a tubular shape, and in which knitting is started from a fingertip side and terminated
on a wrist section side using a flat knitting machine including at least a pair of
front and back needle beds; the method including:
step a, the four-finger body section including a first four-finger body portion, a
second four-finger body portion, and a third four-finger body portion, and step a
including forming a new stitch with a palm side and a back side connected to knit
the first four-finger body portion, forming an index finger side flechage portion
inclined by repeating a flechage knitting of gradually narrowing a knitting width
at one part of a knitting width of an index finger side on the palm side while knitting
the back side and the palm side to a C-shape to knit the second four-finger body portion,
and forming a new stitch with the palm side and the back side connected to knit the
third four-finger body portion;
step b of knitting the thumb tubular section to a tubular shape, and
step c, the five-finger body section including a first five-finger body portion, a
second five-finger body portion, and a third five-finger body portion, and step c
including knitting the first five-finger body portion while forming a new stitch with
the palm side and the back side connected following a wale of stitches of the third
four-body portion and the thumb tubular section, carrying out narrowing knitting to
overlap a thumb side inclined section on a region on the thumb tubular section side
of a buffer section while knitting the buffer section and the thumb side inclined
section through flechage knitting on the thumb tubular section side of the first five-finger
body portion on the palm side while knitting the back side and the palm side to a
C-shape to knit the second five-finger body portion, and forming a new stitch with
the palm side and the back side connected to knit the third five-finger body portion
to a tubular shape.
[0007] According to the present invention, in the knitting of the second four-finger body
portion of step a, knitting is carried out while forming a little finger side flechage
portion inclined by repeating the flechage knitting of gradually narrowing the knitting
width on a little finger side.
[0008] Moreover, the present invention relates to a glove, knitted using a flat knitting
machine, including a thumb tubular section, a four-finger body section, and a five-finger
body section knitted to a tubular shape with stitches on a palm side and stitches
on a back side connected at an end, wherein
the four-finger body section has a first four-finger body portion, a second four-finger
body portion, and a third four-finger body portion lined, and the five-finger body
section has a first five-finger body portion, a second five-finger body portion, and
a third five-finger body portion lined; and
the palm side connecting to the back side of the second four-finger body portion is
configured by an index finger side flechage portion formed by carrying out flechage
knitting such that the number of wales gradually reduces from a knitted fabric end
on an index finger side; a thumb side inclined section formed through narrowing knitting
on the palm side connecting to the back side of the second five-finger body portion
is connected to the first five-finger body portion by way of a buffer section that
disperses the distortion of the knitted fabric; and the wale of the stitches of the
first five-finger body portion and the wale of the stitches of the thumb side inclined
section are intersected.
[Effects of the Invention]
[0009] In the present invention, the flechage knitting of gradually reducing the knitting
width is carried out to form the index finger side flechage portion on the index finger
side of the second four-body body portion of the glove, and then a new stitch is formed
to knit the third four-finger body portion, so that the glove can be curved toward
the palm side with a shape lying along the grip due to the difference in length and
the difference in number of courses at a connecting portion of the second four-finger
body portion and the third four-finger body portion. Furthermore, according to the
flechage knitting, an area connecting to the inclined portion of the third four-finger
body portion and the index finger side flechage portion becomes a region where the
stitches are pulled along the inclination, and an area connecting to a flat portion
of the third four-finger body portion and the index finger side flechage portion becomes
a bulged region. Such bulged region becomes the portion to be fitted when gripping
a grip-like object. With the arrangement of the buffer section in the second five-finger
body portion, the extending/contracting force of the connecting area can be dispersed,
and the first five-finger body portion and the thumb side inclined section are connected
by way of the buffer section. Thus, with the effects of both the state in which the
wale of the stitches of the first five-finger body portion and the wale of the stitches
of the thumb tubular section are intersected, and pulled region of the second four-finger
body portion described above, the glove can be curved with a space between the thumb
and the index finger as the base point.
[0010] In the present invention, a region to be curved is extended by carrying out flechage
knitting of gradually reducing the knitting width on a little finger side in addition
to a part of the knitting width on the index finger side, on the palm side of the
four-finger body portion, so that a glove that is easier to grip can be formed.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0011]
Fig. 1 is an enlarged view of a main portion of a glove shown in the present embodiment;
and
Figs. 2A and 2B are knitting schematic views of a palm side and a back side of the
glove shown in the present embodiment.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0012] Hereinafter, an embodiment of a glove 1 and a method for knitting the same according
to the present invention will be described based on the drawings. In the embodiment,
a palm side of the glove 1 is knitted with a front needle bed, and a back side is
knitted with a back needle bed. The palm side and the back side of the glove 1 may
be knitted with either front or back needle bed, respectively.
«Overall configuration»
[0013] In an example, a method for knitting the glove 1 curved to easily grip a grip and
the glove 1 will be described using a thumb tubular section 4, a four-finger body
section 3, and a five-finger body section 5 knitted to a tubular shape shown in Fig.
1.
[0014] The four-finger body section 3 is in a state a first four-finger body portion 3A,
a second four-finger body portion 3B, and a third four-finger body portion 3C are
lined, and the five-finger body section 5 is in a state a first five-finger body portion
5A, a second five-finger body portion 5B, and a third five-finger body portion 5C
are lined. The palm side connecting to the back side of the second four-finger body
portion 3B is configured by an index finger side flechage portion 7a knitted by carrying
out flechage knitting such that the number of wales gradually reduces from a knitted
fabric end on an index finger side.A thumb side inclined section 9 formed through
narrowing knitting on the palm side connecting to the back side of the second five-finger
body portion 5B is connected to the first five-finger body portion 5A by way of a
buffer section 8 that disperses the distortion of the knitted fabric, where the wale
of the stitches of the first five-finger body portion 5A and the wale of the stitches
of the thumb side inclined section 9are intersected.
«Knitting procedure»
[0015] Fig. 2A is a knitting schematic view of the palm side of the glove 1, and Fig. 2B
is a knitting schematic view of the back side. The glove 1 shown in the present embodiment
is knitted with a 1x1 rib structure knitted using an elastic yarn for a base yarn,
where the elastic yarn applied with tension is inlay knitted in each course.A knitting
pattern configuring the glove 1 is not limited, and for example, plain pattern or
other different patterns may be adopted. Although not illustrated, the knitting of
the glove 1 includes sequentially knitting each finger tube, and then integrally knitting
in a seamless manner while joining with a body section toward a wrist section 6.
[0016] The glove 1 is knitted through a known knitting method, where knitting is carried
out by sequentially knitting an index finger tube, a middle finger tube, and a ring
finger tube, joining the tubes each other to shift to a three-finger body section
2, and joining a subsequently knitted little finger tube and the three-finger body
section 2 each other to shift to the four-finger body section 3.The four-finger body
section 3 is configured by the first four-finger body portion 3A, the second four-finger
body portion 3B, and the third four-finger body portion 3C. First, the first four-finger
body portion 3A is knitted to a tubular shape up to line α with the stitches on the
palm side and the stitches on the back side connected at an end. The central part
on the palm side, for example, may not be knitted, and the knitting may be carried
out to a C-shape. In this case, a shape suited for the grip can be formed in combination
with the effect of a little finger side flechage portion 7b, to be described later.
Following the first four-finger body portion 3A, on the palm side, the flechage knitting
of obtaining an inactive state by sequentially removing the knitting needles from
knitting on an index finger side b-h and a little finger side c-i is repeated while
knitting the back side and the palm side to a C-shape, and the second four-finger
body portion 3B is knitted while forming the inclined index finger side flechage portion
7a and the little finger side flechage portion 7b.The little finger side flechage
portion 7b knitted at the little finger side on the palm side is knitted up to line
β of the second four-finger body portion 3B, and the flechage knitting is carried
out for the following knitting up to line γ while gradually reducing the knitting
width on the back side. The flechage knitting of the little finger side flechage portion
7b and the back side does not necessarily require knitting, but the flechage knitting
is carried out so that the subsequently knitted second four-finger body portion 3B
and the first four-finger body portion 3A can be joined.Other knitting methods may
be adopted as long as the second four-finger body portion 3B and the first four-finger
body portion 3A can be joined. Further, the flechage knitting may not be carried out
on the back side, and may be carried out only at the little finger side flechage portion
7b. When the little finger side flechage portion 7b is formed, a range in which the
glove 1 curves toward the palm side is expanded, so that gripping can be more easily
carried out. Thereafter, a new stitch is continuously formed from line γ, including
the tuck stitches of the inclined portions a-b, c-d, e-f formed in both flechage portions
7a, 7b, to knit the third four-finger body portion 3C to a tubular shape.
[0017] A new stitch is formed in a stitch row of the second four-finger body portion 3B,
the index finger side flechage portion 7a, and the little finger side flechage portion
7b to knit the third four-finger body portion 3C, so that the glove 1 can be curved
toward the palm side with a shape lying along the grip due to a difference in length
and a difference in number of courses at the connecting portion of the second four-finger
body portion 3B and the third four-finger body portion 3C.Furthermore, according to
the flechage knitting, an area connecting to the inclined portion a-b of the third
four-finger body portion 3C and the index finger side flechage portion 7a becomes
a region where the stitches are pulled along the inclination, and an area connecting
to a flat portion a-g of the third four-finger body portion 3C and the index finger
side flechage portion 7a becomes a bulged region where the number of stitches is greater
than the other areas. Such bulged region becomes the portion to be fitted when gripping
a grip-like object.
[0018] After knitting the four-finger body section 3, the thumb tubular section 4 is knitted
to a tubular shape, and then the five-finger body section 5 is formed from line δ.
The five-finger body section 5 is configured by the first five-finger body portion
5A, the second five-finger body portion 5B, and the third five-finger body portion
5C. First, following the wale of the stitches of the third four-finger body portion
3C and the thumb tubular section 4, the first five-finger body portion 5A is knitted
to line ε with the stitches on the palm side and the stitches on the back side connected
at the end.Next, the buffer section 8 and the thumb side inclined section 9 are knitted
through flechage knitting of gradually increasing the knitting width at a portion
j-k, k-l of the knitting width on the thumb tubular section 4 side of the first five-finger
body portion 5A on the palm side to connect to the first five-finger body portion
5A. Furthermore, the narrowing knitting is carried out to overlap the thumb side inclined
section 9 on the region on the thumb tubular section 4 side of the buffer section
8 to knit the second five-finger body portion 5B up to line ζ, so that the thumb side
inclined section 9 is connected to the first five-finger body portion 5A by way of
the buffer section 8.On the back side, a new stitch row is formed with a knitting
width of the first five-finger body portion 5A, and the knitting end on the right
side is also knitted in an inclining manner so as to be connected and joined to the
third five-finger body portion 5C subsequently knitted to a tubular shape using the
flechage knitting. In the present embodiment, the narrowing process is carried out
once when knitting the buffer section 8 and the thumb side inclined section 9 for
two courses.
[0019] With the arrangement of the thumb side inclined section 9 and the buffer section
8, the wale of the stitches of the first five-finger body portion 5A and the wale
of the stiches of the thumb side inclined section 9 are in an intersecting state,
the index finger side flechage portion 7a and the little finger side flechage portion
7b described above mutually actso that the glove is curved with the space between
the thumb and the index finger as a base point.Furthermore, tautness or bagginess
are less likely to occur as the extending/contracting force of the connecting area
of the first five-finger body portion 5A and the thumb side inclined section 9 is
dispersed by forming the buffer section 8. To prevent tautness and bagginess from
occurring, the buffer section 8 is preferably formed with a plurality of stitch rows.
In the present embodiment, the first five-finger body portion 5A and the thumb side
inclined section 9 are joined at a ratio of 2:1, where the extending/contracting force
is satisfactory dispersed by providing the buffer section 8 with respect to the joining
ratio of 2:1.
[0020] The third five-finger body portion 5C is knitted to a tubular shape following the
knitting of the stitches of the second five-finger body portion 5B. The wrist section
6 is then knitted to a tubular shape up to a terminating end, and then a known bind-off
process is carried out to complete the knitting of the glove 1. The glove 1 is knitted
with a 1 x1 rib structure using the elastic yarn for the base yarn, and the elastic
yarn applied with tension is formed through inlay knitting in each course, so that
the glove 1 can be curved stronger with a space between the thumb and the index finger
as a base point.
[0021] The glove 1 obtained from the knitting processes described above is a glove suited
for gripping a grip used for golf, baseball, bicycle, or the like. The position and
the like of the flechage knitting of the index finger side flechage portion 7a and
the little finger side flechage portion 7b formed on the palm side of the second four-finger
body portion 3B may be changed to change the shape and the size on the right and left,
thus adjusting the bending degree of the glove.
