| (54) | ABSORBENT ARTICLE FOR PET ANIMAL |
| (57) The present invention aims to provide an absorbent article for pet animal ensuring
a high fit of the absorbent core along the end edges thereof to the body of pet animal. An absorbent article further includes ventral side elastic element (35) extending in the transverse direction (X) in the ventral region (11), the absorbent core (51) is located in an area extending from an opening provided in the intermediate region (13) for insertion of tail (6) of pet animal (5) toward the side of the ventral region (11) and the absorbent core (51) has a first end portion (51a) located on the side of the ventral region (11), and the first end portion (51a) of the absorbent core (51) overlaps the ventral side elastic element (35) in a planar view. |

{Brief Description of Drawings}
{Fig. 1} Fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating an absorbent article for pet animal according to a first embodiment in the configuration it would assume when placed on a dog as an example of the absorbent article according to the present invention.
{Fig. 2} Fig. 2 is a partially cutaway plan view of the absorbent article flatly developed until respective elastic elements have been stretched in a longitudinal direction as well as in a transverse direction to the respective maximum elongations (until gathers due to contractions of the respective elastic elements substantially disappear).
{Fig. 3} Fig. 3 (a) is a schematic sectional view taken along line IIIa-IIIa in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3(b) is a schematic sectional view taken along line IIIb-IIIb in Fig. 7.
{Fig. 4} Fig. 4 is a schematic sectional view taken along line IV-IV in Fig. 2.
{Fig. 5} Fig. 5 is a partially cutaway plan view of a liquid-absorbent layer.
{Fig. 6} Fig. 6 is a scale-enlarged plan view of a ventral region of the absorbent article flatly developed in the same manner as Fig. 2.
{Fig. 7} Fig. 7 is a scale-enlarged plan view of the ventral region as viewed from an interior side of the absorbent article in the natural state (in which respective elastic elements are in a state of contraction).
{Fig. 8} Fig. 8 (a) is a diagram illustrating a handling to put the absorbent article on the body of pet animal and Fig. 8 (b) is a diagram illustrating a state of an absorbent core when the absorbent article has been partially inserted into a space defined between both rear legs of pet animal in the course of putting the article on the body of pet animal.
{Fig. 9} Fig. 9 is a diagram illustrating a state in which an handling person grips the absorbent article in the course of putting the absorbent article on the body of pet animal.
{Fig. 10} Fig. 10 is a partially cutaway plan view similar to Fig. 5, illustrating the liquid-absorbent layer according to a second embodiment.
{Fig. 11} Fig. 11 is a scale-enlarged plan view similar to Fig. 6, illustrating the ventral region in the absorbent article according to the second embodiment.
