(54) AUXILARY MIRROR

(57) Auxiliary mirror (4, 14) comprising a clamping block (8) with clamping members for mounting onto a vehicle mirror (1) provided with a peripheral edge (2), the clamping members comprising adjustable clamping jaws (3-1, 3-2), for fixedly mounting the auxiliary mirror onto two spots of the peripheral edge of the vehicle mirror, and with two abutting projections (3-5, 3-6) engaging on the outer surface of the vehicle mirror during fastening of the clamping jaws. The clamping block comprises a clamping block cavity (11) on the side of the vehicle mirror, and a bridging member (12), which bridges the clamping block cavity at the level of the adjustable clamping jaws, and which is arranged to engage on the outer surface of the vehicle mirror and/or its peripheral edge, between the adjustable clamping jaws. The bridging element is bearing-mounted in two bearing cavities (16) on either side of the clamping block cavity, is rod-shaped and has a substantially round cross-section, and is made from a rigid, but to some extend deformable, plastic such as polyethylene or polypropylene.
