FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] This invention concerns a furniture hanger with anti-tipping protection of the kind
used to hang wall cupboards or the like, having a hanging hook provided with a descending
hanging tooth which hooks into the anchor plate secured to the wall.
PRIOR ART
[0002] At present and in regard to the prior art it is known and customary how to use furniture
hangers to hang wall cupboards or the like having a hanging hook provided with a descending
hanging tooth which hooks into the anchor plate secured to the wall. On the other
hand, there are hangers which prevent the releasing of the wall furniture from the
anchor plate secured to the wall by the use of complementary elements such as flexible
elements or bolted dowels, as is the case with Spanish patent
2562002.
[0003] These models which are present on the market have certain drawbacks. On the one hand,
when the flexible safety element is disposed in the upper part of the hanging hook,
if an accidental upward displacement should occur it is more liable to fail, since
the flexibility would also be operative during such a vertical upward displacement,
causing the wall furniture to unhook and tip over. Other embodiments use a different
type of anti-tipping fixation elements such as bolted dowels of complementary shape,
but these embodiments have the drawback of being hard to unhook when necessary.
EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION AND ADVANTAGES
[0004] Given this prior art, the present invention refers to a furniture hanger with anti-tipping
protection of the hangers used to hang cupboards or the like, having a hanging hook
provided with a descending tooth which hooks into the anchor plate secured to the
wall, in which there is connected to and sliding on the body of the hook a safety
body with its end as an ascending tooth situated opposite the descending tooth and
with its tip near the surface of the anchor plate, preventing the unwanted exit of
the hanging hook from the anchor plate.
[0005] Thanks to this configuration, one achieves better safety inasmuch as accidental tipping
over of the furniture is prevented thanks to the locking of the ascending hook of
the safety body which prevents any vertical movement allowing the exiting of the furniture
from the hanging hook, thus completely ensuring the hanging with no risk of failure
due to the flexibility of the hooking. In addition, since the securing occurs from
its lower portion, there is more safety than in other embodiments where the anti-tipping
feature is positioned in the upper portion where the forces are greater.
[0006] Another feature of the invention is that, with respect to the body of the hook, the
safety body has limited guided sliding and locking means; to enable the voluntary
retraction from the position of placement of its tip opposite the descending tooth.
[0007] In this way, the sliding of the safety body into its position of blocking is facilitated
by the guiding and subsequent blocking in the safety position, which prevents its
retraction thanks to the locking. This facilitates the unhooking if such should become
necessary in a much easier manner than in prior embodiments and without the use of
additional elements such as screwdrivers, it being possible simply with the finger
to slide the plate toward its initial position.
[0008] The use of the guiding and locking means consist in a fixed guiding recess with toothed
surface, situated in the body of the hook and able to accommodate a complementary
toothed protuberance of the attached inner face of the safety body; facilitating the
sliding of the safety body thanks to the guidance without leaving its track and ensuring
the position of safety in the event that the hanger module is pushed upward, producing
a locking of both toothed surfaces of the hanging hook and plate, preventing an unwanted
retraction.
[0009] Thanks to the use in the safety body of a handling hole for sliding of the safety
body across the body of the hanging hook it is ensured that the advancement and retraction
of the safety body during the sliding is facilitated by the simple movement of the
finger on said handling hole, which helps to overcome the resistance caused by friction
of the safety body against the body of the hanging hook, making the handling easier
for the unhooking than in other prior embodiments and preventing difficulties which
might result in a falling of the furniture.
[0010] Finally, another feature of the invention is that the safety body incorporates on
its exterior face a protuberance able to be placed against one or more protuberances
on the inner back side of the embellishing cover during the sliding movement of placement
or removal of the embellishing cover.
[0011] In this way, if the safety body has not been placed in its locking position, thanks
to the protuberance of the embellishing cover the safety body is placed in that blocking
position, thus providing a double safety at the time of attaching the embellishing
cover.

PRESENTATION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0013] With regard to the drawings and above enumerated references, the enclosed figures
illustrate a preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, regarding
a furniture hanger with anti-tipping protection of the hangers used to attach cupboards
or the like, having a hanging hook provided with a descending tooth which hooks into
the anchor plate secured to the wall, in which there is connected to and sliding on
the body of the hook a safety body with its end as an ascending tooth situated opposite
the descending tooth and with its tip near the surface of the anchor plate, preventing
the unwanted exit of the hanging hook from the anchor plate.
[0014] Figure 1 shows an isometric view of the assembled hanger (1) in which can be seen
the safety body (5) and the anchor plate (3) in its position of hanging and corresponding
blocking. One may note how the hanging hook (2) is attached to the anchor plate (3)
by means of the descending tooth (4) situated opposite the ascending tooth (6) of
the safety body (5) and thereby preventing the accidental tipping over of the furniture
by means of the locking of the ascending tooth (6) of the safety body (5) which prevents
any vertical movement to allow the exiting of the furniture from the hanging hook
(2), thus assuring better safety.
[0015] Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the hanging hook (2) in which one may observe
the means of guided sliding and locking. These means are provided by the guiding window
(8) of the hanging hook (2) which accommodates the complementary toothed protuberance
(10) of the safety body (5). In this way, the sliding of the safety body (5) is facilitated
by the body (7) of the hanging hook (2) without leaving its travel track. In addition,
once the safety body (5) is situated with its ascending tooth (6) in the anchor plate
(3), this safety position is ensured by means of the locking produced between the
complementary toothed protuberance (10) and the toothed edge (9) of the guiding window
(8) of the hanging hook (2). One thus ensures an additional safety for the assembled
hanger (1).
[0016] In both Fig. 2 and in the views regarding the safety body (5) of Fig. 3, 4, 5 one
may observe the design features of said safety body (5). Thus, there is shown the
existence of an actuating hole (14) in the safety body (5) which facilitates the sliding
of said safety body (5) by an actuation with one's' finger or any other implement.
[0017] Likewise, Fig. 6 shows a perspective view of the embellishing cover (11). One notes
on the inner face of this embellishing cover (11) the existence of one or more protuberances
(12) which in the event that the safety body (5) has not been placed in its blocking
position, by virtue of the placing of said protuberances (12) opposite the protuberance
(13) of the safety body (5) (Fig. 3) at the time of attaching of the embellishing
cover (11), the safety body (5) is moved into the blocking position, providing a double
safety for the whole.
[0018] The essence of this invention is not affected by changes in materials, shape, size
or disposition of the component elements as described in nonlimiting manner, this
being sufficient for it to be reproduced by a skilled person.
