(54) BED FRAME

(57) The invention concerns a bedstead, which comprises in addition to lateral and terminal parallel beams two kross-beams and additional support legs. Provided bedstead has more durable construction and as the bedstead is collapsible, the transportation of the bedstead is also easy.

Description

Background of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of beds, more particularly double beds. The invention pertains to a reinforced bed frame with additional legs.

Prior Art

[0002] The most commonly known bed frames of prior art have four legs at the corners of the bed frame and the bed frames have no additional support under the bed ribs. Known bed frames are not durable enough for wider beds, such as double beds, which may cause bed ribs and hence the mattress to collapse.

Summary of the Invention

[0003] The present invention relates to a bed frame with a cross beam between the parallel side beams as well between the parallel end beams, and in addition to the legs located at the corners of the bed frame, with four support legs at the cross beams, each cross beam having two support legs.

[0004] The aim of the invention is to provide a strong and durable structure for double or wider beds. The bed frame is also collapsible, which enables easy transportation.

List of Figures

[0005] A preferred embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanying figures as follows:

FIG 1: top view of the bed frame;

FIG 2: bottom view of the bed frame;

FIG 3: bottom view of the bed frame;

FIG 4: top view of the bed frame;

FIG 5: perspective view of the disassembled bed frame.

Exemplary embodiment of the invention

[0006] The bed frame (1) comprises two parallel beams on the sides of the frame, i.e. the side beams (2), two parallel beams at the ends of the frame, i.e. the end beam (3), and two cross beams, of which the first cross beam (4) is perpendicular to the side beams (2) and is attached on both sides to the centre of the side beams (2), and the other side beam (5) is perpendicular to the parallel end beams (3) and is attached on both sides to the centre of the end beams (3), as shown in FIG 1. The bed frame (1) has a leg (6) in each corner and both cross beams (4, 5) have two support legs (7). The legs (6) and support legs (7) of the bed frame (1) and their arrangement is shown in FIGS 2 and 3. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the support legs (7) are located less than 1/4 of the cross beam length from the ends of the cross beams. It is known in the art that for additional support of the beam supported from the ends, the support of the beam is arranged to the centre of the beam being supported, or the supports are arranged in equal intervals. In a support leg (7) arrangement according to the invention, increase in rigidity and reduction of potential collapse of the side beams (2) and end beams (3) of the bed frame and have been achieved in addition to supporting the support legs (7). In a support leg (7) arrangement according to the invention, each support leg (7) has two functions: support of the cross beams (4, 5), and additional support of the centre of the side beams (2) and the end beams (3). In a more preferred embodiment, for example when the width of the bed is 160 cm and length of the bed 200 cm, the support legs (7) are arranged on the cross beams (4, 5) 300 mm from the side beams (2) and end beams (3). In another alternative embodiment of the invention, the intersection of the cross beams has an additional support leg (7) (not shown).

[0007] In a possible embodiment of the invention, the first cross beam (4) is under the second cross beam (5); in another possible embodiment, the second cross beam (5) is under the first cross beam (4).

[0008] Both cross beams (4, 5) are attached to the side beams and end beams (2, 3) with screws.

[0009] The bed frame of the invention (1) is covered with bed ribs (8), as shown in FIGS 4 and 5, and the bed frame (1) is collapsible, as shows in FIG 5.
