Description

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention regards a structure for supporting and containing objects of the type that can be used in the furnishing industry, specifically, for producing a kitchen shelf or drawer.

STATE OF THE ART

[0002] Shelves or drawers that can be housed in respective modular elements of a piece of furniture, for supporting and containing objects, are known.

[0003] With reference to modular furniture, and in particular kitchen furniture with standardised dimensions, use shelves to be arranged inside the furniture is known. As concerns a corner modular element, which - as known - has an off-centred opening, the use of removable shelves is provided so as to facilitate access to the objects to be placed in the piece of furniture which would be otherwise difficult to be reached, especially in cases where they are positioned far from the off-centred opening.

[0004] Furthermore, with the aim of dividing the interior volume of a modular element of a piece of furniture, the use of drawers is known.

[0005] The dimensions of the shelves of the displaceable type just like those of the removable drawers may vary as a function of the actual dimensions of the modular element in which they are provided for.

[0006] The modular elements can be obtained in various dimensions so as to ensure high modularity, intended as the capacity to adapt the overall dimensions of the piece of furniture to the actual dimensions of the environment in which the same is meant to be installed.

[0007] The need to guarantee such modularity translates into the manufacturer's obligation to manufacture and keep a high number of components in the warehouse for obtaining drawers and/or shelves of various dimensions.

[0008] However, such aspect is disadvantageous as regards the manufacturing costs and the need to prepare special storage areas with an ensuing increase of costs.

[0009] Furthermore, it should be observed that should the market needs change over time, requiring drawers or shelves of different dimensions, this would require the manufacturer to manufacture new components, to the detriment of those manufactured previously, with further increase of costs.

[0010] In the industry, there arises the need for providing a structure for supporting and containing objects that is easy to assemble through a solution with low manufacturing costs with respect to the cost of conventional solutions and capable of enabling obtaining support and containment elements in various formats and with a low manufacturing cost.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

[0011] Thus, the main object of the present invention is to improve the state of the art in the furnishing industry, in particular with reference to the structures for supporting and containing objects, such as shelves of the moveable type or drawers which can pull away from the inside.

[0012] Another object of the present invention is to provide a structure for supporting and containing objects comprising a limited number of components, and that is easy to assemble.

[0013] Another object of the present invention is to provide a support and containment structure whose configuration can be modified in the manufacturing stage to adapt it, whenever required, to the dimensions of a piece of furniture in which one desires to provide at least one shelf or drawer obtained with such structure, in a solution characterised by a high production flexibility.

[0014] According to an aspect of the present invention, a structure is provided for supporting and containing objects according to claim 1.

[0015] According to a further aspect of the present invention herein provided for is a method for obtaining such structure for supporting and containing objects according to claim 12.

[0016] The dependent claims refer to preferred and advantageous embodiments of the invention.

EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

[0018] With reference to the attached figures, a structure for supporting and containing objects is indicated in its entirety with reference number 1.

[0019] In the description that follows, reference shall be made to a structure for supporting and containing objects, referring to it as a support structure 1, of the type configured as a shaped shelf.

[0020] Such shaped shelf can be used in corner furniture which have an off-centred opening by means of which the shelf can project to facilitate access to the objects resting on the shelf.

[0021] It is intended that the support structure 1 according to the present invention can be equally used for providing a drawer or similar element to be used in a piece of furniture, to enable the housing and containment of objects.

[0022] In particular, as it will be better described hereinafter, the support structure 1 according to the present invention can be obtained with different conformations and dimensions, with particular reference to the plan extension, and different materials, with the aim of obtaining a solution with low manufacturing costs.

[0023] The support structure 1 according to the present invention comprises a base 2 defining a plane P for resting and supporting objects, and at least one lateral side 3, associated to the base 2, to laterally delimit the resting plane P.

[0024] In some attached figures, with reference for example to figures 1, 3, 5, 7 and 11, the base 2 was omitted for a better intelligibility of the components of the support structure 1.

[0025] The at least one side wall 3 is abuttingly associated with the sides of the base 2, according to the methods better described hereinafter.

[0026] The support structure 1 comprises means for the connection of the at least one lateral side 3 to the base 2, indicated in its entirety with 4 (see figures 1, 2 and 3).

[0027] According to an aspect of the present invention, the at least one lateral side 3 is obtained in a strip-like fashion extending substantially along the entire perimeter of the base 2 to delimit at least one containment compartment 5, open at the upper part and delimited at the lower part by the base 2.

[0028] In particular, the at least one lateral side 3 is obtained as a single and continuous body and it has a first end 6 and a second end 7 opposite with respect to each other.

[0029] By way of non-limiting example, the at least one lateral side 3 can be obtained by means of a continuous forming process, extrusion for example.

[0030] The first end 6 and the second end 7 of the lateral side 3 can be mutually associated, so as to configure the lateral side 3 as an enclosure, possibly annular or strip-like.

[0031] It should be observed that the plan extension of the at least one lateral side 3, with the first end 6 and the second end 7 associated to each other, substantially reproduces the plan conformation of the perimeter of the base 2 to which the lateral side 3 is associated.

[0032] Thus, the lateral side 3 defines a containment lateral wall extending along the entire perimeter of the base 2, substantially reproducing the same plan extension. The support structure 1 comprises at least one joining element 8, 8', 8" for the mutual connection between the first end 6 and the second end 7 (respectively see figures 3, 5 and 7).

[0033] The at least one joining element 8, 8', 8" can be obtained with different conformations, which mutually share the same inventive concept, as better described hereinafter.

[0034] In particular, the at least one joining element 8, 8', 8" has at least one first portion 9, 9', 9" delimiting a first seat 10 and at least one second portion 11, 11', 11" delimiting a second seat 12.

[0035] The first seat 10 and the second seat 12 respectively extend for at least one section of the first portion 9, 9', 9" and the second portion 11, 11', 11".

[0036] The first seat 10 and the second seat 12 respectively define a housing for at least one section of the first end 6 and the second seat 7 of the at least one lateral side 3 (see figures 3, 5 and 7).

[0037] As mentioned, there can be provided for various embodiments of the at least one joining element 8, 8', 8" which differ from each other in terms of the relative orientation between the first portion 9, 9', 9" and the second portion 11, 11', 11" and/or the relative orientation between the first seat 10 and the second seat 12, as a function of the shape of the base 2 to which one desires to associate the at least one lateral side 3.

[0038] With reference to a first version, illustrated by way of example in figures 1, 2 and 3, the first portion 9 and the second portion 11 of the joining element 8 are oriented mutually inclined.

[0039] In particular, the first portion 9 and the second portion 11 can be oriented orthogonal to each other, similarly, the first opening 10 and the second opening 12 are also oriented orthogonal to each other.

[0040] Such configuration can be used should the support structure 1 have a right-angled vertex and the joining element 8 is positioned in proximity of such vertex.

[0041] According to a version of the present invention, the joining element 8 can have a symmetry configuration, with respect to a symmetry plane aligned in the vertical direction V, with respect to which the first portion 9 and the second portion 11 depart (see figures 3 and 4).

[0042] According to such version, the at least one joining element 8 can be positioned at any section or vertex of the base 2, without requiring providing a right component or a left component of the joining element 8, in a solution that enables containing costs for the overall manufacturing of the support structure 1, that is simple to obtain and flexible to use.

[0043] According to a further version of the present invention, the joining element 8' can be provided for connecting the two ends 6, 7 of the at least one side which are arranged aligned along the same direction (see figures 7 and 8).

[0044] According to such version, the joining element 8' can have the first portion 9' and the second portion 11' mutually aligned along the same direction or substantially the same direction of alignment.

[0045] In such case, it is observed that also the first seat 10 and the second seat 12 are aligned mutually along such alignment direction.

[0046] A joining element 8' thus configured can be preferably used in cases where the joining between the first end 6 and the second end 7 of the at least one lateral side 3 is obtained along a linear section of the at least one lateral side 3 (see figure 7). According to a further version of the present invention, the joining element 8" can have an asymmetric configuration (see figures 5 and 6).

[0047] According to such version, the first portion 9" and the second portion 11" can extend along the same direction or substantially along the same direction while the first seat 10 and the second seat 12 are mutually inclined.

[0048] The joining element 8", the first seat 10 and the second seat 12 are preferably oriented perpendicular to each other.

[0049] The at least one first seat 10 and the at least one second seat 12 are configured so as to obtain a shape-coupling with the respective ends 6, 7 of the lateral side 3.

[0050] The coupling between the first end 6, the second end 7 and the respective seats 10, 12 of the joining element 8, 8', 8" could occur with a slight interference so as to ensure a stable connection of the at least one lateral side 3 with the joining element 8, 8', 8".

[0051] According to a version of the present invention, in the joining element 8" the connection between the joining element 8" and the ends 6, 7 of the lateral side 3 may occur through further connection means indicated in their entirety with 13 (see figures 5 and 6).

[0052] In particular, the further connection means 13 can comprise at least one first through seat 14 and the relative engagement means, not illustrated, obtained at the first portion 9" of the joining element 8".

[0053] In the at least one first through seat 14 there can be introduced engagement means such as screws or pins or similar elements, not illustrated in detail in the attached figures, suitable to engage at least one portion of the first end 6 to firmly hold it inside the the first portion 9".

[0054] The further connection means 13 can comprise at least one second seat 15 and relative engagement means, not illustrated, for connecting the second end 7 to the joining element 8".

[0055] In the at least one second through seat 15 there can be introduced engagement means such as a screw or a pin or a similar element, not illustrated in detail in the attached figures, suitable to engage at least one portion of the second end 7 to firmly hold it inside the the second portion 11".

[0056] According to a further aspect of the present invention, the joining element 8, 8', 8" determines, besides the connection between the opposite ends 6, 7 of the at least one lateral side 3, the support of a portion of the base 2.

[0057] Regarding this, the joining element 8, 8', 8" may comprise a lower portion 16 suitable to support at least one portion of the base 2 from the bottom (see figures 3 to 8).

[0058] Such lower portion 16 can be configured as a bracket or the like and it projects laterally from the joining element 8 defining an abutment and a support for the base 2.

[0059] As easily understandable, the at least one lateral side 3 and the at least one joining element 8, 8', 8" represent characterising elements for the support structure 1 according to the present invention, in that they can be made in various dimensions and conformations, as a function of the specific use needs, with particular reference to the plan conformation of the base 2 to which they are associated, thus easily obtaining support structures with mutually different configurations, in a solution that is extremely flexible in terms of manufacture and use.

[0060] In fact, it is observed that the conformation of the at least one lateral side 3 can be varied in a simple, easy and economic manner.

[0061] In particular, in order to conform the at least one lateral side 3 to the plan extension of the base 2 it is sufficient to bend the at least one lateral side 3, for example, by means of roll-forming or bending process in a pressing machine or the like without any limitation whatsoever.

[0062] In order to obtain the at least one lateral side 3 to be associated to the base 2 there is basically no need for assembling several components like it instead occurs in the conventional support and containment structures, which instead provide for the mutual connection of single lateral walls to define a side around the base. According to the present invention, the at least one lateral side 3 consists of a single element, whose opposite free ends 6, 7 can be mutually connected, in a solution that is easy to be used.

[0063] According to a version of the present invention, should the lateral side 3 be used for obtaining a drawer or a body with vertices or sharp edges, cuts or micro-cuts can be obtained along specific portions of the lateral side 3, to facilitate the right-angled bending thereof and obtain clear-cut edges.

[0064] According to a version of the present invention, the at least one lateral side 3 may have an at least one V-shaped or substantially V-shaped groove or a cut or micro-cut extending transversely with respect to the longitudinal length of the at least one side 3 and such to define a pair of mutually facing inclined surfaces, not illustrated in detail in the attached figures.

[0065] In detail, the inclined surfaces can delimit - with respect to each other - a right angle, so that upon relatively bending the two consecutive sections of the at least one lateral side 3, departing from opposite sides of the aforementioned cut or micro-cut, approaching each other, carry the two inclined surfaces in mutual abutment to form a right-angled vertex or the like.

[0066] The V-shaped or substantially V-shaped groove or the cut or micro-cut have an amplitude intended as the amplitude of the angle delimited between the two inclined surfaces at the same angle, with the at least one side 3 flattened and not folded, which can vary as a function of the plan conformation intended to be conferred to the at least one lateral side 3 (shaped to form a square, rectangle, triangle, etcetera as mentioned) in a bent configuration.

[0067] As mentioned, the at least one lateral side 3 is configured as a strip-like element or the like. The lateral side 3 has a lower edge 17 defining a lower abutment for the base 2, when the lateral side 3 laterally rests against the base 2.

[0068] Furthermore, the lateral side 3 may have a longitudinal rib or a relief element 18 which extends in a spaced position with respect to the lower edge 17 with a space at least equivalent to the thickness of the base 2 intended to be connected to the lateral side 3.

[0069] In particular, it should be observed that the rib 18 and the lower edge 17 mutually delimit a groove 19 defining a housing for holding at least one edge portion of the base 2.

[0070] As mentioned, connection means 4 are provided for mutually connecting the at least one lateral side 3 to the base 2.

[0071] According to a version of the present invention, the connection means 4 comprise at least one bracket 20 which can be associated - at a first portion thereof - to a lateral side 3 and a second portion, opposite to the first, to the base 2.

[0072] More in detail, the at least one bracket 20 may have a first connection portion 21 that can be associated to the at least one lateral side 3 and a second connection portion 22, opposite to the first, that can be associated to the base 2.

[0073] The first connection portion 21 can be hook or curved-shaped 23 for engaging the lower edge17 of the lateral side 3 by means of a shape fitting or coupling (see figure 11).

[0074] As regards the second connection portion 22, it can have at least one through opening 24 for housing a screw or a pin or a similar connection element suitable to mutually connect the at least one bracket 20 and the base 2.

[0075] The at least one lateral side 3 can be obtained with various thickness or width (the expression width being used to indicate the height-wise extension of the lateral side3), as a function of the specific application needs without any limitation whatsoever.

[0076] According to a version of the present invention, the at least one lateral side 3 has an upper portion 25 at which a stiffening edge 26 is provided.

[0077] By way of non-limiting example, the stiffening edge 26 can be configured as an edge with a greater thickness with respect to that of the at least one lateral side 3. According to a further version, the stiffening edge 26 may provide for an inner through cavity for housing a core or a similar element, so as to confer greater rigidity to the at least one lateral side 3.

[0078] A method for obtaining support and containment structure 1 described above is also an object of the present invention.

[0079] The method provides for an initial step of providing a base 2.

[0080] The base 2 may have a square, rectangular, circular, triangular, complex plan conformation or any conformation as a function specific application needs.

[0081] Thus, the method provides for a step of providing at least one previously obtained lateral side 3 to be laterally associated to the edge of the base 2.

[0082] The at least one lateral side 3 may be obtained through a continuous forming process, such as extrusion, so as to obtain along the lateral side 3 - during forming thereof - the lower edge17, the rib or relief element 18 and the upper portion 25.

[0083] Thus, the lateral side 3 appears as a strip-like element, whose length substantially corresponds to that of the perimeter of the base 2.

[0084] The lateral side 3 is subsequently folded and conformed to take the shape of a frame, having at least two mutually separated ends 6, 7 whose plan extension basically corresponds to that defined by the plan perimeter of the base 2.

[0085] For example, should the base 2 have a square or rectangular plan extension, the at least one lateral side 3 will be bent, so as to define right-angled vertices up to taking the square or rectangular-shaped configuration of the base 2.

[0086] In particular, according to a version of the present method, in order to facilitate the bending and right angle of the at least one lateral side 3 it is possible to provide - prior to the bending step - at least one groove or V-shaped or substantially V-shaped cut transversely to the lateral side 3, in order to facilitate deformation thereof, so that the inclined and opposite flaps at such cut can mutually fit perfectly after the bending step.

[0087] It should be observed that the lateral inclination of the engraving surfaces may vary as a function of the bending angle intended to be conferred to the lateral side 3.

[0088] By way of example, should one intend to obtain a right-angled bending, the V-shaped engraving will have walls mutually inclined by about 90°.

[0089] Should the base 2 have an irregular plan extension, for example see the conformation of the base 2 illustrated in the plan view of figure 9, the at least one lateral side 3 can be deformed and curved to permanently take the same or substantially the same configuration as the perimeter of the base 2.

[0090] For example, such deformation can be obtained by means of a roll-forming process or the like.

[0091] After bending/deforming the at least one lateral side 3 there follows the mutual connection between the first end 6 and the second end 7 of the at least one lateral side 3 by means of a joining element 8, 8', 8".

[0092] In detail, the first end 6 and the second end 7 are introduced respectively into the first seat 10 and into the second seat 12 of the joining element 8, 8', 8" and held therein, for example by means of interference or by gluing or, with reference to the joining element 8" also by using connection means 13, such as for example screws or pins or the like suitable to mutually connect the joining element 8" and the end portions 6, 7 of the lateral side 3.

[0093] With the at least one lateral side 3 configured to take an annular or substantially annular or frame shape, there follows the connection between the base 2 and the at least one lateral side 3.

[0094] To this end, the base 2 can be placed in abutment against the lower portion 16 of the joining element 8, and such components can be possibly mutually connected by means of screws or gluing or the like.

[0095] Then, the connection means 4 for connecting the at least one lateral side 3 to the base 2 are provided.

[0096] The attached figures illustrate a structure for supporting and containing objects 1 in which the connection means 4 comprise two brackets 20.

[0097] It is clear that possible further versions of the support structure 1 in which the connection means 4 comprise a different number of brackets 20, greater or smaller, can be provided without limiting the scope of protection of the present invention in any manner, possibly positioned differently as compared to what has been illustrated.

[0098] To connect the lateral side 3 to the base 2 this is carried out by positioning the lateral side 3 around the perimeter of the base 2 and by introducing the perimeter edge of the base 2 in the groove 19 obtained along the lateral side 3.

[0099] Then, at least one bracket 20 is provided, carrying the first connection portion 21 of the at least one bracket 20 in abutment against the lateral side 3, and in particular in abutment and engagement against the lower edge 17, and the second connection portion 22 of the at least one bracket 20 in abutment against the lower portion of the base 2.

[0100] Regarding this, it should be observed that according to a version of the present invention, the lower edge 17 can have a groove 27 in which there can be engaged the first connection portion 21 of the at least one bracket 20 (see figure 11).

[0101] Then, the second connection portion 22 and the base 2 are mutually connected by means of screws, pins, gluing or the like.

[0102] In light of the above, it is clear that the structure for supporting and containing objects 1 according to the present invention is capable of attaining the predefined objects.

[0103] In particular, the support and containment structure 1, can be obtained in various conformations, as a function of specific application needs, in a solution that is simple to attain, assemble and with low manufacturing costs irrespective of the shape intended to be manufactured.

[0104] With respect to conventional solutions, which require manufacturing a high number of components so as to obtain support structures with mutually different shapes, in the structure for supporting and containing objects 1 according to the present invention it is actually sufficient to vary the configuration of the base 2 alone, in that the lateral side 3 may be shaped, whenever required, as a function of specific application needs, by means of bending operations.

[0105] In fact, the structure for supporting and containing objects 1 according to the present invention can actually be obtained through a simplified manufacturing process, and with low manufacturing costs, in that the manufacturer can manufacture straight strip-like elements to be stored and bent subsequently to obtain lateral sides 3 substantially of any conformation.

[0106] Thus, the manufacturer does not have to manufacture numerous components to be kept in the warehouse so as to obtain mutually different conformation structures, in that the manufacturer can simply manufacture a linear lateral side 3 to be bent upon defining the shape of the support and containment structure 1.

[0107] The support and containment structure 1 described above can be subjected to numerous modifications and variants falling within the scope of protection of the claims that follow.

11. Structure for supporting and containing objects according to claim 1, wherein said at least one lateral side (3) has at least one V-shaped cut or the like adapted to allow the folding of said at least one lateral side (3) in proximity to said V-shaped cut in a manner so as to obtain two contiguous portions of said lateral side (3) that are tilted with respect to each other.

12. Method for making a structure for supporting and containing objects comprising the steps of:

providing a base (2) defining an abutment surface;

providing at least one lateral side (3) to be connected to said base (2),

forming said lateral side (3) in a manner so as to make it assume a planar configuration substantially equal to that of the perimeter of said base (2);

engaging the edge of said base (2) in a groove (19) present along said lateral side (3);

wherein said forming said at least one lateral side (3) provides for the step of making said lateral side (3) as a single and continuous body, substantially strip-like, and folding said lateral side (3) in accordance with the planar shape of said base (2).

13. Method for making a structure for supporting and containing objects according to claim 12, wherein said forming said lateral side (3) provides for the step of connecting a first end (6) of said lateral side (3) with a second end (7) of said lateral side (3) by means of a junction element (8, 8', 8").

14. Method for making a structure for supporting and containing objects according to claim 12, wherein said forming said at least one lateral side (3) provides for making at least one V-shaped cut or the like along a section of said at least one lateral side (3) in order to facilitate the folding of said at least one lateral side (3), wherein following the folding of said at least one lateral side (3) the tilted surfaces of said V-shaped cut are placed in mutual abutment.
