(57) The present invention relates to a lid for a food container, as well as a food container with said lid and method of manufacturing said lid. The lid comprises a substrate, typically carton board, which has a heat seal film laminated to a surface thereof, the substrate configured such that it will cover at least the peripheral edge of an open top of a container, and the heat seal film configured such that it will cover the entire open top of said container.
