[0001] The present invention concerns an elongated modular element, commonly called "slat",
for the production of blinds, shutters, roll-up shutters, wall panels of wardrobes,
casings for electrical equipment or similar. A characteristic of the closing elements
produced with the modular elements according to the present invention is that in a
first adjustment position thereof they allow the passage of air but not light, whereas
in a second adjustment position thereof they prevent the passage of both air and light.
Therefore said elements are particularly suited to use for the protection of environments
in which a certain degree of aeration has to be maintained, but in which the sunlight
could cause alteration of the goods contained in them, for example picture galleries,
libraries, wineries and similar.
[0002] Said object is achieved by the use of elongated modular elements, as claimed in claim
1.
[0003] Further objects and advantages of the present invention will become clearer during
the following description thereof, with reference to the attached drawings, in which:
Figure 1 illustrates in perspective, with parts in cross section, a slat for blinds
according to a first embodiment of the present invention, in which the component elements
of the blind are in the position in which they allow the passage of air but not light.
Figures 2 and 3 illustrate in cross section blind elements obtained by joining several
slats (three as illustrated) of the type shown in figure 1.
Figures 4 and 5 illustrate in cross section blind elements obtained by joining several
slats (three as illustrated) of the type shown in figure 1, to produce an embodiment
of a shutter.
Figures 6 and 7 illustrate in cross section further shutter embodiments similar to
those of figures 4 and 5 in which, however, the slat elements of the shutter are able
to mutually slide; lastly
Figure 8 illustrates in perspective a further embodiment of slat for shutters according
to the invention.
[0004] With reference to the drawings, and with particular reference to figure 1 thereof,
the slat 1 in question is formed of two parts 101, 201 which extend longitudinally
and are profiled and connected together so as to form between them an S-shaped channel,
with reference number 2, which opens on both fronts of the slat. The two parts 101,
201 are maintained integral with each other by means of two sides 3. Furthermore,
the slat 1 has on the upper longitudinal side thereof a longitudinal bead 4 and on
the lower side a corresponding groove 5. Thus shaped, the slat 1 is particularly suitable
for the production of blinds, shutters and similar (see figures 2 and 3). A blind
made in this way can therefore prevent the inlet of light and at the same time allow
an optimal internal aeration. Preferably, the slat 1 is provided with a control device
of the channel 2. As illustrated, said device consists of a shaft 6 which extends
throughout the length of the slat 1 and is rotatingly mounted flush with the channel
2, said shaft 6 comprising a bar 7 which can be made to oscillate from a passive position
(fig. 2), in which it does not interfere with the channel 2, to an active position,
in which it can interfere with the channel 2 so as to limit or even prevent the passage
of air (fig. 3) there through. At one end of the single shaft 6 a lever 8 is fixed,
the end of which projects a small distance from its slat. The ends of all the levers
8 are engaged in a vertical cursor 9, the manual or mechanized sliding of which causes
oscillation of the bar 7.
[0005] In the embodiment of figures 4 and 5, the slat 1 is used to produce roll-up shutters.
Overall it has a form similar to that of figures 1 and 2, but comprises above and
below deep slots 10 in which two enlargements 12 of a connecting strip 11 slidingly
engage, allowing, as in the traditional roll-up shutters, a limited relative movement
between each slat. Also this embodiment is preferably provided with a device that
controls the aeration channel 2. Said device comprises a sliding bar 13 mounted in
the area of the channel 2 and carried at the ends by a pair of plate-like side panels
14. Said side panels 14 are in turn coupled to one of the enlargements 12 of the relative
connecting strips 11, so that, with the slats spaced apart, the bar lies in a passive
position whereas with the slats adjacent, the bar intercepts the passage of air in
the channel 2.
[0006] In the embodiment of figures 6 and 7, the slat 1 has a form similar to that of figures
4 and 5, but its two semi parts 101 and 102 are mounted between the two plate-like
sides 15 so as to reciprocally slide. To allow this limited relative movement, the
semi part 201 is fixed to the sides 15 by means of the pins 16, whereas the pins 17
of the semi part 101 can slide in the slots 18 correspondingly obtained in the sides
15. In this way, when the slats are moved apart, the channel remains completely open
(fig. 6) whereas with the slats adjacent, the semi part 101 drops, due to gravity,
onto the semi part 201 occluding the ends of said channel (fig. 7).
[0007] Lastly, according to an embodiment illustrated in fig. 8, the single connecting strip
11 of the slats 1 for roll-up shutters is made with interspaced windows 111 and comprises
a plate-like longitudinal cursor 19 also provided with identical windows 20. Obviously
a brief sliding of the cursor 19 can lead to a partial or total correspondence of
the windows 111, 20 of the two elements 11 and 19, thus permitting a limited passage
of light, when the slats of the shutter are moved apart. Naturally, the single strip
11 can be totally obscured, by appropriately operating the cursor 19.
[0008] Naturally the present invention is not limited to the embodiments illustrated and
described, but comprises all the working variations falling within the wider scope
of the inventive concept, as claimed below.
