Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a wig base provided with a net region, and a wig
in which false hairs are planted on the wig base.
Background Art
[0002] In wig bases each serving as constituent elements of a wig together with false hairs
planted thereon, a wig base with a net region including meshes has been used widely
from the viewpoints of lightweight and excellent air permeability. As such a wig base,
for example, there has been proposed a wig base provided with a net region including
a combination of substantially circular meshes that are different in size from each
other (refer to, for example, Patent Literature 1).

Summary of Invention
Technical Problem
[0004] According to a wig base disclosed in Patent Literature 1, according to adopting a
circular mesh shape, planted false hairs can be oriented in a desired direction, which
meets various requests of a wearer. In addition, according to adopting circular meshes
to be different in curvature from each other, the planted false hairs can overlap
one another, which gives a natural appearance.
[0005] However, due to the circular meshes, the planted false hairs tend to be circumferentially
oriented in all directions, so that a wearer feels difficulty in setting a hairstyle.
In addition, the wig base needs a region for connecting circular meshes provided independently,
so that the adjacent meshes are spaced apart from each other. This configuration causes
lack of unity as to the false hairs planted on the respective meshes. It is consequently
difficult to give a natural and voluminous appearance.
[0006] In view of the problem described above, an object of the present invention is to
provide a wig base and a wig that achieve voluminous hair, facilitate a change in
hairstyle, and give a natural appearance.
[0007] In order to solve the problem described above, in a wig base and a wig according
to an aspect of the present invention, the wig base includes
a net region including a first mesh having an octagonal shape, and second meshes each
having a substantially rectangular shape, the second meshes being connected to sides
of the first mesh, and
the second meshes are disposed on the sides of the first mesh at predetermined distance.
Advantageous Effects of Invention
[0008] Since the first mesh has an octagonal shape, false hairs planted on the sides of
the mesh are oriented forward, behind, left, right, diagonally forward left, diagonally
forward right, diagonally behind left, and diagonally behind right. In a case where
a mesh has a hexagonal or smaller shape, planted false hairs are oriented only in
specific directions owing to the shape of the mesh. In a case where a mesh has a circular
shape, planted false hairs are circumferentially oriented in all directions, and have
difficulty to be oriented in a desired specific direction.
[0009] Since the first mesh has an octagonal shape, the planted false hairs are oriented
with appropriate restriction. This configuration therefore addresses any hairstyle,
facilitates a change in hairstyle, and gives a natural appearance. Since the second
meshes are different in shape from the first mesh, false hairs planted on the second
meshes are oriented differently from the false hairs planted on the first mesh without
interference with the false hairs planted on the first mesh. Therefore, the false
hairs planted on the second meshes effectively support the false hairs planted on
the first mesh. This configuration thus achieves voluminous hair with ease, and facilitates
setting of a hairstyle.
[0010] As described above, the present invention provides a wig base and a wig that achieve
voluminous hair, facilitate a change in hairstyle, and give a natural appearance.
It should be noted that a more specific description relating to the advantageous effects
of the present invention will be given later with reference to the drawings.

[0012] With referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, firstly, there is described a net region of a wig
base according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 1 is an enlarged schematic
diagram of a net region of a wig base according an embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram of one mesh unit in the net region illustrated in FIG.
1.
[0013] The net region 20 of the wig base according to the present embodiment includes first
meshes 1 each having an octagonal shape, and second meshes 2 each having a substantially
rectangular shape, the second meshes 2 being connected to sides of a corresponding
one of the octagonal meshes. In other words, one side of each octagonal first mesh
1 adjoins to one side of each substantially rectangular second mesh 2. With this configuration,
each first mesh 1 and each second mesh 2, which are different in shape from each other,
are connected to each other without a clearance.
[0014] As illustrated in FIG. 2, in one mesh unit 8, substantially rectangular second meshes
2 are disposed on sides of a first mesh 1 at predetermined distance. The octagonal
first mesh 1 has a function of mainly planting a desired amount of false hairs. Each
of the substantially rectangular second meshes 2 has a function of effectively raising
the planted false hairs.
[0015] The following functions and effects are obtained according to the configuration of
octagonal meshes and substantially rectangular meshes connected to one another without
clearances such that the second meshes 2 are disposed on the sides of each first mesh
1 at the predetermined distance produces.
- (1) Since a first mesh 1 for planting a desired amount of false hairs has an octagonal
shape, the planted false hairs are oriented in all directions with appropriate restriction.
This configuration therefore addresses any hairstyle.
- (2) Since a second mesh is different in shape from the first mesh, false hairs planted
on the second mesh are oriented differently from the false hairs planted on the first
mesh without interference with the false hairs planted on the first mesh. This configuration
therefore allows the false hairs planted on the second mesh to effectively support
the false hairs planted on the first mesh.
- (3) Since the second mesh 2 has a substantially rectangular shape, the false hairs
planted on the sides of the substantially rectangular second mesh 2 tend to converge
to a portion near a center of the substantially rectangular second mesh 2. This configuration
therefore allows the false hairs to be raised while being propped up on one another.
- (4) In addition, the false hairs planted on the sides of the octagonal first mesh
1 overlie on the false hairs raised by the second mesh 2. This configuration therefore
achieves natural and voluminous hair.
- (5) Since the substantially rectangular second meshes 2 are disposed on the sides
of the first mesh 1 at predetermined distance, there is no possibility of giving an
unnatural appearance such that the planted false hairs are oriented in the same direction.
This configuration therefore achieves natural and voluminous hair in which the false
hairs are raised naturally.
- (6) The octagonal first mesh 1 and the substantially rectangular second mesh 2, which
are different in shape from each other, are disposed without a clearance so as to
adjoin to each other. This configuration therefore achieves voluminous hair and gives
a natural appearance with certainty.
[0016] As described above, the present embodiment provides a wig base and a wig that achieve
voluminous hair, facilitate a change in hairstyle, and give a natural appearance.
[0017] As a specific aspect that the second meshes 2 are disposed on the sides of each first
mesh 1 at the predetermined distance, preferably, the second meshes 2 are connected
to the opposite sides of each first mesh 1. Also preferably, the net region 20 includes
a mesh unit 8 in which the first meshes 1 and the second meshes 2 are alternately
connected to the sides of the first mesh 1 defined as a center of the mesh unit 8.
[0018] In other words, preferably, the substantially rectangular second meshes 2 are disposed
on every other side of the octagonal first mesh 1 defined as the center. As illustrated
in FIG. 1, in the present embodiment, the sides of the octagonal first mesh 1 defined
as the center alternately adjoin to the sides of the octagonal first meshes 1 and
the sides of the substantially rectangular second meshes 2. The substantially rectangular
second meshes 2 are thus disposed in substantially parallel on the upper, lower, left,
and right sides of the octagonal first mesh 1 defined as the center while being spaced
away from one another by the first mesh 1 defined as the center.
[0019] In a case where each first mesh 1 has a hexagonal shape, the second meshes 2 can
be disposed on either the upper and lower sides or the left and right sides of the
first mesh 1, but cannot be disposed on the upper, lower, left, and right sides of
the first mesh 1.
[0020] In addition, the octagonal first meshes 1 are disposed in substantially parallel
on the diagonally upper right, diagonally upper left, diagonally lower left, and diagonally
lower right sides of the first mesh 1 defined as the center while being spaced away
from one another by the first mesh 1 defined as the center such that each octagonal
first mesh 1 is located between two of the substantially rectangular second meshes
2 disposed on the upper, lower, left, and right sides of the first mesh 1 defined
as the center.
[0021] As described above, since the second meshes 2 are connected to the opposite sides
of each first mesh 1, the false hairs are oriented in the same direction to some degree
at certain distance. This configuration therefore achieves natural and voluminous
hair. In addition, the net region 20 includes the mesh unit 8 in which the first meshes
1 and the second meshes 2 are alternately connected to the sides of the first mesh
1 defined as the center. This configuration therefore achieves predetermined voluminous
hair, facilitates a change in hairstyle, and gives a natural appearance.
[0022] Preferably, each of the second meshes 2 has a square shape. In a case of a square
second mesh 2, false hairs planted on the sides of the square second mesh 2 tend to
converge to a portion near a center of the square second mesh 2, so that the planted
false hairs are effectively raised. In a case of a substantially rectangular second
mesh 2 other than the square second mesh 2, as compared with the case of the square
second mesh 2, planted false hairs do not converge to a portion near a center of the
substantially rectangular second mesh 2 or are in a weak converging state. The substantially
rectangular second mesh 2 therefore has a tendency of causing a plurality of converging
spots. As compared with the square second mesh 2, the substantially rectangular second
mesh 2 has such a tendency that the planted false hairs are less prone to being raised
satisfactorily.
[0023] As described above, in the case of the square second mesh 2, the planted false hairs
are raised effectively. Even in a case of a substantially rectangular shape other
than the square shape, planted false hairs are satisfactorily raised depending on
a use and a hairstyle.
[0024] If the substantially rectangular second meshes 2 are connected to all the sides of
each octagonal first mesh 1, the number of octagonal meshes, where false hairs are
planted in a desired amount, is reduced as a whole of the net region. This configuration
narrows a range of the amount of plantable false hairs, and does not meet requests
about various hairstyles in some instances. In addition, if each octagonal first mesh
is surrounded by the substantially rectangular second meshes, the planted false hairs
are raised more than necessary, which results in unnatural voluminous hair in some
instances.
[0025] In consideration of the foregoing respect, preferably, each octagonal first mesh
1 has an area that is not less than 2 times an area of each substantially rectangular
second mesh 2. More preferably, each octagonal first mesh 1 has an area that is not
less than 3 times an area of each substantially rectangular second mesh 2.
[0026] On the other hand, when the number of substantially rectangular second meshes 2 is
too small, voluminous hair, which is an object of the present invention, is not achieved
satisfactorily. In consideration of this respect, preferably, each octagonal first
mesh 1 has an area that is not more than 4 times an area of each substantially rectangular
second mesh 2 connected thereto. More preferably, each octagonal first mesh 1 has
an area that is not more than 3.5 times an area of each substantially rectangular
second mesh 2 connected thereto.
[0027] If each octagonal first mesh 1 has an area that is not less than 4 times an area
of each second mesh 2, the area of each substantially rectangular second mesh 2 becomes
smaller, and the lengths of the sides of the substantially rectangular second mesh
2 are reduced accordingly. As a result, a distance between planted false hairs is
too short, so that the false hairs look like a bundle in some instances. Consequently,
the false hairs cannot be propped up on one another and cannot be raised, failing
to achieve voluminous hair in some instances. Particularly, the false hairs planted
on each second mesh 2 look like a bundle, so that hairs appear linearly, giving an
unnatural appearance as a whole of a wig in some instances.
[0028] In a case where each first mesh 1 has a regular octagonal shape the sides of which
are identical in length to one another, and each second mesh 2 has a square shape
the sides of which are identical in length to one another, each first mesh 1 has an
area that is about 4.8 times an area of each second mesh 2. In the mesh unit 8, preferably,
of the sides of the first mesh 1 defined as the center, the sides connected to the
first meshes 1 are longer than the sides connected to the second meshes 2.
[0029] As described above, when the area of each first mesh 1 is not less than 2 times and
not more than 4 times the area of each second mesh 2, the resultant wig base and wig
each achieve voluminous hair and give a natural appearance in appropriate proportions.
[0030] Each mesh in the net region may be formed of any yarn such as a monofilament or a
monofilament as a bundle of filaments. The yarn of each mesh may have any diameter.
If the yarn is too thick, the number of meshes is reduced, which fails to plant a
desired amount of false hairs and restricts hairstyles in some instances. In wearing
the wig, moreover, the net region 20 tends to be exposed, thereby making a person
aware of wearing of the wig with ease. In consideration of this respect, preferably,
the diameter of the yarn for the meshes in the net region 20 is no less than 0.3 mm
and no more to 2.5 mm.
[0031] FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram of a wig base and a wig according to an embodiment
of the present invention. As illustrated in FIG. 5, a wig base 30 is provided with
a net region 20 including first meshes 1 and second meshes 2, as its entire region
excluding an outer edge portion 32. However, the wig base 30 is not limited to this
configuration. Alternatively, the wig base 30 may be provided with a combination of
the net region 20 with a region that is not formed in a net shape and is made of a
base fabric or an artificial skin.
[0032] A wig 40 that achieves voluminous hair and gives a natural appearance is formed in
such a manner that false hairs 42 are appropriately planted on the wig base 30. Examples
[0033] With referring to FIGS. 1, 2, and 5, next, there is described an example of a wig
base provided with a net region and a wig according to the present invention. In the
present example, a wig base provided with a net region and a wig were formed as follows.
[0034] Firstly, a net member was prepared. The net member includes octagonal first meshes
1 each having sides of 2.2 mm in length and sides of 1.2 mm in length. In each first
mesh 1, the sides different in length from each other are located alternately. The
net member also includes square second meshes 2 each having sides of 1.2 mm in length.
An area ratio between the first meshes 1 and the second meshes 2 is 3.67 : 1.
[0035] Next, a mesh unit 8 was prepared in such a manner that, as illustrated in FIG. 2,
the square second meshes 2 are connected to every other side of each octagonal first
mesh 1.
[0036] Firstly, a wig base 30 having false hairs 42 planted thereon is formed. In the present
example, there is described an exemplary case where a wig base 30 is provided with
a net region 20 as its entire region.
[0037] Firstly, the net member is affixed to a plaster drape mold having a shape of the
head of a wig wearer with, for example, staples at a portion excluding a portion serving
as the wig base. Next, the plaster drape mold to which the net member is affixed is
put into a hot-air drier, so that the net member is molded into the head shape. At
this time, a solution of urethane dissolved with an organic solvent may be applied
to the net member to reinforce the moldability into the head shape.
[0038] Next, the net member molded into the head shape is removed from the plaster drape
mold. The wig base 30 is thus formed.
[0039] False hairs 42 such as human hairs or artificial hairs are planted on the wig base
30 thus formed. Specifically, the wig base molded into the head shape is affixed to
a synthetic resin or wood drape mold having the head shape. Next, false hairs are
tied at predetermined positions of a multifilament of the meshes in the net region
20, with a hook-shaped needle. A method of tying the hairs may be one of any publicly-known
methods.
[0040] With referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, next, there is described an exemplary method of
planting the false hairs on the formed wig base. FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of
positions of false hairs planted on a wig base according to an embodiment of the present
invention. FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram of positions of false hairs planted on a
second mesh of a wig base according to an embodiment of the present invention. In
FIGS. 3 and 4, reference number 9 shows a position where false hairs are planted,
and reference number 10 shows a position of distal ends of the false hairs.
[0041] As indicated by the arrows in FIG. 3, the distal ends of the planted false hairs
are oriented from a center portion 3 toward an anterior portion 4, a posterior portion
5, a left temple portion 6, and a right temple portion 7 of the head of a wearer.
The distal ends of the planted false hairs are also oriented diagonally forward right
between the anterior portion 4 and the right temple portion 7, diagonally forward
left between the anterior portion 4 and the left temple portion 6, diagonally behind
left between the left temple portion 6 and the posterior portion 5, and diagonally
behind right between the right temple portion 7 and the posterior portion 5, from
the center portion 3. The planted false hairs are oriented in optimal directions in
accordance with the positions at the head. As described above, the planted false hairs
are oriented outward from the center portion 3 of the head of the wearer. In addition,
the planted false hairs are also oriented inward to the center portion 3. This configuration
achieves voluminous hair and facilitates a change in hairstyle.
[0042] As indicated by the arrows in FIG. 4, also at the square first meshes 1, the planted
false hairs are oriented in any directions, that is, the planted false hairs are oriented
toward the anterior portion 4, posterior portion 5, left temple portion 6, and right
temple portion 7. In addition, the planted false hairs are oriented in any directions,
that is, the planted false hairs are oriented outward from the center portion 3 or
inward to the center portion 3. The various patterns illustrated in FIG. 4 are optionally
formed in accordance with requests about a hairstyle and voluminous hair.
[0043] A wig base provided with a net region and a wig according to the present invention
are not limited to the foregoing example. Changing positions where hairs are planted,
the number of hairs to be planted, and orientations of distal ends of the hairs achieves
a desired hairstyle, a desired amount of hairs, and desired voluminous hair with ease.
[0044] Although the embodiments and aspects of the present invention have been described
above, the contents of the disclosure may be changed in the details of the configuration;
therefore, a combination, an ordinal change, and the like as to the elements in the
embodiments and aspects may be implemented without departing from the claimed scope
and thought of the present invention. Reference Number
