(57) The invention relates to a catalytic process for preparing polyester by ring-opening polymerization of at least one substituted glycolide of formula (I) or copolymerization of at least one substituted glycolide of formula (I) with trimethyl carbonate and/or at least one lactone of formula (II), wherein a strontium(II) alkoxide Sr(OR3)2, is used as a catalyst.
