schematic three-dimensional diagram of a door for a refrigerator according to an exemplary
embodiment of the present invention.
[0033] The door 100 includes a front plate 4, a back plate (not shown), and a decorative
strip 2 extending along at least one edge of the front plate 4.
[0034] The door further includes a front panel 1 covering a front side of the front plate
4. The front panel 1 forms a front surface of the door. The front panel 1 may be made
of glass, plastic, ceramic or a plank.
[0035] The door further includes a thermal insulation layer 5 located in the door, and the
thermal insulation layer 5 is joined to the front plate 4, the back plate, a mounting
portion 22 and an end cover 3.
[0036] The thermal insulation layer 5 may be formed by injecting a foaming agent into a
thermal insulation space enclosed by the front plate 4, the back plate, the mounting
portion 22 and the end cover 3 to foam. The mounting portion 22 is located in the
thermal insulation layer 5, and is in contact with the thermal insulation layer 5.
[0037] The decorative strip 2 includes a decoration portion 21 extending along at least
one edge of the front panel 1 and exposed to a front part of the door and the mounting
portion 22 connected to the front panel 1. The mounting portion 22 is at least partially
located behind the front panel 1.
[0038] In an embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3, the decoration portion 21 is located above
the front panel 1. A front surface of the decoration portion 21 close to an end of
the front panel 1 is roughly flush with a front surface of the front panel 1. A lower
end surface of the decoration portion 21 is in face-to-face contact with an upper
end surface of the front panel 1.
[0039] Therefore, along a depth direction of the refrigerator, a possibility that a gap
exists between the decoration portion 21 and the front panel 1 is reduced, thereby
improving integrity of the decorative strip 2 and the front panel 1, and further improving
beauty of the door.
[0040] The door further includes the end cover 3 forming at least a part of an end surface

[0043] In a front-rear direction, the decorative strip 2 is located in front of the end
cover 3 and covers the end cover 3. An upper edge of the decorative strip 2 exceeds
an upper edge of the end cover 3. Specifically, the decoration portion 21 exceeds
the first connecting face 31 of the end cover 3. In this case, the end cover 3 may
be prevented from being exposed to consumers, thereby improving the beauty of the
door and user experience.
[0044] In an embodiment, seen from the front-rear direction, the decorative strip 2 and
the front panel 1 cover the end cover 3. Therefore, the decorative strip 2 and the
front panel 1 are exposed to the consumers, preventing the end cover 3 from being
exposed to the consumers.
[0045] The mounting portion 22 is bonded to a back surface of the front panel 1. In this
case, the decorative strip 2 and the front panel 1 are fixed together, thereby providing
a possibility that the decorative strip 2 and the front panel 1 become an integrated
component, so that the decorative strip 2 and the front panel 1 may form an independent
panel assembly. The panel assembly may include the front panel 1 and the decorative

surface 24 that face the front panel 1. There is a certain height difference between
the first surface 23 and the second surface 24 in a depth direction of the door, thereby
forming a step portion between the first surface 23 and the second surface 24. As
shown in FIG. 3, the first surface 23 is in direct contact with the front panel 1,
and a first bonding device 6 exists between the second surface 24 and the front panel
1.
[0048] In an embodiment, the first bonding device 6 may include adhesive tape. The first
bonding device 6 is located in the step portion, to fix the mounting portion 22 and
the front panel 1 together.
[0049] As shown in FIG. 3, the first surface 23 is connected to an end surface of the decoration
portion 21, and the end surface of the decoration portion 21 is in face-to-face contact
with an end surface of the front panel 1. In the depth direction of the door, a size
of the end surface of the decoration portion 21 is roughly the same as that of the
end surface of the front panel 1. The first surface 23 is perpendicular to the end
surface of the decoration portion 21.
[0050] As shown in FIG. 5, the mounting portion 22 further includes a third surface 25 and
a fourth surface 26 that face a back side and a connecting surface 27 connecting the
third surface 25 and the fourth surface 26. The end cover 3 includes a joint portion
33 parallel to the front panel 1. As shown in FIG. 3, a front surface of the connection
portion 28 is in face-to-face contact with the third surface 25, and an end surface
of the connection portion 28 is face-to-face with the connecting surface. The third
surface 25 is parallel to the fourth surface 26.
[0051] The first surface 23 is opposite to the third surface 25, and the second surface
24 is opposite to the fourth surface 26.
[0052] As shown in FIG. 4, the front plate 4 exists between the end cover 3 and the decoration
portion 21. The decoration portion 21 includes a fifth surface 29 facing a back side,
and the fifth surface 29 abuts against the first connecting face 31 of the end cover
3. A second bonding device (not shown) exists between the fifth surface 29 and the
front plate 4, and the fifth surface 29 is bonded to the front plate 4.
[0053] The front plate 4 is located behind the front panel 1 and the decoration portion
21, and the front panel 1 covers the front plate 4. A third bonding device (not shown)
