Object of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for levelling flat cladding parts on vertical
or horizontal surfaces that falls within the construction sector, such that with the
device of the invention the flat parts can be precisely levelled when they are assembled,
wherein an adhesive or gripping material is first applied on said surfaces to then
proceed to rest the flat parts on said adhesive material with the interposition of
the device of the invention. Thus, one same flatness and separation or joint between
adjoining flat parts is ensured, incorporating weakenings to facilitate the disassembly
of the device and further improve time savings when installing the facing.
Background of the invention
[0002] Devices for levelling flat parts on surfaces are currently known, which, like the
device of the invention, are intended to level the flat parts when they are assembled
in order to try to achieve flatness of the visible faces of the flat parts.
[0003] The utility model with publication number
ES 2598702 T3 relates to a system for levelling rigid cladding plates arranged on a surface to
be cladded, comprising a T-shaped levelling device, a wedge and a pushing mechanism
associated with the wedge and the levelling device; wherein during assembly of the
flat parts the pushing mechanism moves the guided wedge in an opening of the levelling
device to refine the levelling of the flat parts that rest on the adhesive material
and on a base (crossbar of the T-shaped configuration) of the levelling device.
[0004] The utility model with publication number
ES 1214135 U discloses a levelling device comprising a T-shaped part with a lower opening located
above a base (crossbar of the T); wherein, as in the model cited in the preceding
paragraph, the parts rest on the adhesive material and on said base during assembly
thereof.
[0005] The Brazilian patent with publication number
BR 102014010232-9 A2 discloses a levelling device comprising a T-shaped part and a wedge; wherein during
assembly of the flat parts the guided wedge moves in an opening of the flat part to
refine the levelling of the flat parts that rest on the adhesive material and on a
base (crossbar of the T-shaped configuration) of the T-shaped part.
[0006] Thus, in all cases, to level the flat parts during assembly thereof, a T-shaped part
is used, wherein the horizontal crossbar thereof is inserted between the surface to
be cladded/paved and the flat parts themselves that are joined by the adhesive material.
In turn, the vertical branch of the flat part protrudes above the flat parts and includes
an opening to guide the wedge responsible for pressing on said flat parts to strengthen
the joining thereof and to above all ensure that the visible faces thereof are coplanar.
Description of the invention
[0007] To achieve the objectives and avoid the drawbacks mentioned in the preceding sections,
the invention proposes a device for levelling flat parts on paving and cladding surfaces,
comprising a T-shaped body formed by a base that corresponds to the horizontal crossbar
of the T-configuration, and a gripping wing that corresponds to the vertical branch
of the T-configuration and that is arranged in a plane perpendicular to the plane
in which the base is located.
[0008] The base includes a flat upper face from which the gripping wing extends and a concave
lower face configured to withstand the stresses of the setting of the gripping or
joining material; wherein the gripping wing comprises a bridge-shaped configuration
formed by two lateral legs joined to the base and a crossbar that joins the two lateral
legs by areas opposite the joining area with the base; and wherein between the lateral
legs, the base and the crossbar there is a wide window configured to insert a wedge
therein which is adjusted with a conventional pushing mechanism.
[0009] The lateral legs of the gripping wing have a variable thickness to achieve the required
separation between the adjoining flat parts.
[0010] The areas of the lateral legs close to the base include opposing pairs of angular
weakenings in combination with additional weakenings formed by one or more holes;
wherein both weakenings are located in one same alignment parallel to the plane in
which the base is located; wherein the combination of said weakenings facilitates
and improves the breakage and separation of the gripping wing when the assembly has
already been completed and after waiting for the adhesive material that joins the
flat parts to have set.
[0011] The base comprises a symmetrical configuration formed by two pairs of collateral
lobes and a pair of central lobes smaller than the collateral lobes; wherein the lower
face of the base includes, coinciding with each of the lobes, opposing pairs of projections.
[0012] The opposing pairs of projections have a half-spindle shape that increases in width
from a central area of symmetry of the base towards opposite edges of the different
lobes.
[0013] The crossbar of the gripping wing includes two aligned openings having a shape selected
from an oval shape and a rectangular shape with rounded corners; wherein a central
portion that separates the two openings is configured between both openings.
[0014] The crossbar of the gripping wing includes a longitudinal thickening arranged parallel
to the base. Said crossbar further includes opposing curved recesses located on two
opposite edges of said crossbar; wherein said thickening and the curved recesses facilitate
and improve the gripping of the device of the invention during use.
[0015] Next, to help better understand this specification and as an integral part thereof,
a series of figures is attached in which the object of the invention is depicted in
an illustrative and non-limiting manner.

Description of an exemplary embodiment of the invention
[0017] Considering the numbering adopted in the figures, the device for levelling flat cladding
parts (15) on vertical or horizontal surfaces comprises a T-shaped body (1) formed
by a base (1a) and a gripping wing (1b) that is arranged in a plane perpendicular
to the plane in which the base (1a) is located, such that the base (1a) corresponds
to the horizontal crossbar of the T-shaped configuration, while the gripping wing
(1b) corresponds to the vertical branch of said T-shaped configuration.
[0018] The base (1a) comprises two opposite faces: a flat upper face from which the gripping
wing (1b) extends, and another concave lower face. Moreover, said base (1a) comprises
a symmetrical configuration formed by two pairs of collateral lobes (2) and a pair
of central lobes (3) smaller than the collateral lobes (2); all as shown in Figure
(3).
[0019] The lower face of the base (1a) includes, coinciding with each of the lobes (2, 3),
opposing pairs of projections (4) with a half-spindle shape that increase in width
from a central area of symmetry of the base (1a) towards opposite edges of the different
lobes (2, 3); wherein the base 1a rests on the surface to be paved/cladded through
said projections (4) maintaining total stability in its support; and wherein said
projections (4) have a trapezoidal section.
[0020] The gripping wing (1b) comprises a bridge-shaped configuration formed by two lateral
legs (5) joined to the base (1a) and a crossbar (6) that joins the two lateral legs
(5) by areas opposite the joining area with the base (1a); wherein between the lateral
legs (5), the base (1a) and the crossbar (6) there is a wide window (7) configured
to fit and guide a wedge (not shown in the figures) therein during the assembly of
the flat parts (15) on the surface to be cladded/paved.
[0021] The crossbar (6) of the gripping wing (1b) includes two aligned openings (8) with
an oval shape, or with a rectangular shape with rounded corners, such that a central
portion (9) is configured between both openings (8) and with a high tensile strength
that the gripping wing (1b) must withstand during use of the device of the invention.
[0022] Some areas of the lateral legs (5) close to the base (1a) include pairs of angular
weakenings (10) formed by opposing notches and additional weakenings formed by holes
(11), such that both weakenings (10) and weakenings (11) are located in one same alignment
(12) parallel to the base (1a).
[0023] In the embodiment shown in the figures, said holes (11) have a circular segment shape;
wherein the straight section thereof coincides with the alignment (12) parallel to
the base (1a).
[0024] It should be noted that the combination of the angular weakenings (10) and the holes
(11) substantially improve and facilitate the breakage of the gripping wing (1b) along
the weakening alignment (12), which prevents the cut from being irregular and prevents
a section from becoming deformed and damaging the finish of the joint between the
adjacent flat parts (15) when the gripping wing (1b) (aerial portion of the device
of the invention) is broken along the weakened line (12) thereof, as often happens.
[0025] The lateral legs (5) of the gripping wing (1b) have a variable thickness to achieve
the required separation between the adjoining flat parts (15), as can be seen more
clearly in (Figure 2), such that the separation gap or groove between the adjoining
flat parts (15) corresponds to the thickness of said lateral legs (5).
[0026] Thus, the lateral legs (5), in addition to including the angular weakenings (10)
and the additional weakenings formed by the holes (11), will have different thicknesses
based on the separation that is to remain between the adjoining flat parts (15) (tiles
or slabs), based on the type of tile or slab to be installed. Thus, depending on the
desired application, there may be T-shaped bodies (1) with different thickness in
the lateral legs (5) thereof.
[0027] The crossbar (6) of the gripping wing (1b) includes a longitudinal thickening (13)
located below the two openings (8) and arranged parallel to the base (1a); wherein
said longitudinal thickening (13) helps to improve the tearing or separation along
the weakened line (12) between the gripping wing (1b) and the base (1a).
[0028] Once the system formed by the levelling device, the flat parts (15) and the wedge
is arranged, and once the joining of said flat parts (15) with the adhesive material
is set, the gripping wing (1b) is separated by an impact on the longitudinal thickening
(13), causing tearing and separating it along said weakening alignment (12), wherein
said alignment (12) will basically remain below the visible surface of the flat parts
(15).
[0029] Said crossbar (6) further includes opposing curved recesses (14) on two opposite
edges of said crossbar (6), while also being located above the longitudinal thickening
(13). Said curved recesses (14) improve the ergonomics of the device of the invention
when the user grasps the device of the invention with his or her hand through the
gripping wing (1b).
[0030] The flat parts (15) rest on the flat upper face of the base (1a), which with the
tightening of the wedge gives it the desired flatness.
[0031] All of the lower face of the base (1a), both the lobes (2, 3) and the projections
(4), is surrounded by the adhesive material; wherein said projections are used so
that contractions during setting do not affect the levelling of the flat parts (15).
