OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for fixing ribbons of decorations to their
support.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] In the field of military and security forces, and even in the civil field, there
are decorations (pin-type in normal and miniature sizes) comprising a support with
a pin in which a ribbon of decoration with ornamentations, such as colored bands,
is fixed such that it is visible, and the support of which comprises on its back fixing
means for fixing to a garment. Additionally, the ribbon may hang from the lower part
of the pin and be finished with a hanging element, such as a medal.
[0003] The ribbon is assembled on the support through a manual method in which the operator
has to first cut the ribbon and carefully glue it by hand to the pin using hot glue,
adhesive, or double-sided tape.
[0004] This method must be carried out meticulously in a handcrafted manner in order to
ensure a correct assembly; besides, it is necessary to wait for the drying time, which
makes this manufacturing a long and complicated process. In addition, the decoration
is sometimes covered with a transparent plastic film to protect it, therefore doubling
the handling time.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The device for fixing ribbons of decorations to their support is applied to decorations
of the type comprising a ribbon with ornaments, and a support with a pin in which
the ribbon is arranged such that it is visible, and the support of which has on its
back fixing means for fixing to a garment, wherein according to the invention, the
device comprises a clip provided with an upper branch covering the height of the pin,
and with end branches snugly projecting over the upper and lower edges of the pin.
[0006] Therefore, by superimposing the ribbon on the pin and placing the clip, the ribbon
is firmly fastened to the support pin by the clip (or clips, if applicable). In addition,
the following advantages are obtained:
- since it is not necessary to manually glue the ribbon and wait for it to dry, the
handling time, and therefore the manufacturing cost, is drastically reduced,
- it provides a strong protection for the pin/medal/miniature medal;
- it is removable,
- it is very lightweight,
- it is very inexpensive to produce,
- it eliminates the need to apply additional protections to the ribbon arranged on the
pin (plastic film protections) since the clip provides said protection.
[0007] In the decorations, the ribbon may be limited to the area of the pin (which may be
of various sizes), or the ribbon may extend through the lower part of the pin and
have a hanging element, such as a medal, at its lower end, with the invention covering
all these variations.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0008]
Figure 1 shows a view of the clip of the device of the invention in a variant in which
the upper branch of the clip comprises an inner bulged shape to enable housing trinkets.
Figure 2 shows a view of the clip of the device of the invention in another variant
in which the upper branch of the clip comprises an inner recess to enable housing
trinkets.
Figure 3 shows an exploded view of the assembly of the ribbon in the support by means
of the device of the invention in a variant in which the support is conventional (with
no rear elements for attachment with other supports), in which the clip comprises
an inner bulged shape to enable housing trinkets, and in which the ribbon is finished
in the lower portion thereof with a medal.
Figure 4 shows a view similar to that of Figure 3, already assembled.
Figures 5 and 6 show, in cross-section, the placement of the clip on the pin securing
the ribbon in the variant of Figures 3 and 4, in a variant in which the support has
rear elements for securing to the garment, such as a fastener.
Figure 7 shows an exploded view of the assembly of the ribbon in the support by means
of the device of the invention, and in which the clip comprises an inner recess to
enable housing trinkets.
Figure 8 shows a view similar to that of Figure 7, already assembled.
Figures 9 and 10 show, in cross-section, the placement of the clip in the pin securing
the ribbon in the variant of Figures 7 and 8.
Figure 11 shows a view similar to that Figures 1 and 2 in which the upper and end
branches of the clip are opaque and have a surface image which is the same as that
of the ribbon, and in which the upper branch is flat internally (lacks inner bulges
or recesses) as it will not hold any trinkets.
Figure 12 shows an exploded view of the assembly of the ribbon in the support by means
of the device of the invention in a variant of the invention for decorations without
any hanging medal or element (pin decorations).
Figure 13 shows a view similar to that of Figure 12, with the device already assembled.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0009] Starting with Figures 3 to 10 and 12 and 13, it can be seen that the device for fixing
ribbons (1) of decorations (2) to their support (3) of the invention applies to decorations
(2) of the type comprising a ribbon (1) with ornaments (100) categorizing the decoration,
and a support (3) with a pin (30) in which the ribbon (1) (and also the ornaments)
is arranged such that it is visible, and the support (3) of which has on its back
fixing means for fixing to a garment, the device according to the invention comprising
a clip (6) provided (see Figures 1, 2, and 11) with an upper branch (7) covering the
height of the pin (30) (see Figures 5, 6, 9, and 10) and with end branches (8) snugly
projecting over the upper and lower edges of the pin (30). As a result of it covering
the height of the pin, the side branches are snugly inserted through the upper and
lower parts of the pin.
[0010] Furthermore, the decoration may comprise a hanging element (4) such as a medal, suspended
from the lower part of the ribbon (1), as can be seen in Figures 3, 4, 7, and 8, which
in this case extends from the support (3) through the lower portion thereof, as can
be seen in the figures, or lack said hanging element (4) (and the prolongation of
the ribbon out of the support), as can be seen in Figures 12 and 13.
[0011] Preferably, the clip (6) covers the width of the pin (30), that is, the direction
transverse to the height given that, in this manner, securing is achieved with a single
clip, covering the entire width of the ribbon (1). To ensure that the ribbon is visible,
the upper branch (7) of the clip (6) can be transparent. In this case, said upper
branch (7) of the clip (6) may have an inner bulged shape (9) (as can be seen in Figure
1) or comprise inner recesses (10) (as can be seen in Figure 2) for covering different
trinkets (11) such as crosses or numbers, among others (if required), as can be seen
in Figures 3 to 10, where the upper branch (7) can be internally flat of the decoration
lacks trinkets, like in the case of Figures 12 and 13.
[0012] Alternatively, the upper branch (7) and end branches (8) of the clip (6) can be opaque,
thus comprising a surface image (70) which is the same as the ornamentation (100)
of the ribbon (1), as can be seen in Figure 11.
[0013] Furthermore, the end branches (8) of the clip (6) preferably comprise end grips (80)
for improving retention. Said end grips (80) may comprise front slips (81) to facilitate
insertion (see Figures 5 and 9).
[0014] It should be indicated that Figures 3, 4, 5, and 6 show a variant with a conventional
support which comprises on its back a fastening needle (18) (see Figures 5 and 6)
for fixing to a garment, and Figures 7 to 10, and 12, and 13 show a variant with a
support provided with attachment elements (19) for attachment with other supports,
such as those protected in document
ES1243490 U, belonging to the applicant, since the present invention can be applied to any support
for decorations.
[0015] Lastly, it should be indicated that the clip (6) can be made of plastic, such as
polycarbonate, plexiglass, acrylic, methacrylate, ABS, PET, PVC, or another plastic,
or metal, or a combination of plastic and metal.
[0016] Having sufficiently described the nature of the invention, it is indicated that the
description of it and of the preferred embodiment thereof should be interpreted in
a non-limiting manner, and that it encompasses all the possible variant embodiments
that may be deduced from the contents of the present specification and the claims.
