[0001] The present subject matter relates to the invention of a sporting activity board
carrier that is wearable across the shoulders and back.
[USE AND STORAGE OF THE BOARD CARRIER - RECTANGULAR]
[0002] The rectangular board carrier is suitable for carrying sporting activity boards that
would usually be too inconvenient to carry in the hand. The board carrier is suitable
for users of all ages, sizes, and experience level.
[0003] The primary use of the board carrier is for carrying snowboards and skateboards.
When the snowboards or skateboards are not in use, they can be placed in the rectangular
carrier and carried on the back to free the hands.
[0004] Before entering the gondola, the snowboarders will easily remove the board from the
board carrier, place the snowboard in the gondola rack or holder, and store the lightweight
carrier in a pant or jacket pocket until needed. Likewise, when the skateboard is
in use, the rectangular carrier can be stored in a pant or jacket pocket until needed.
[0005] Before entering a location where it is not permitted to ride skateboards, i.e. indoor
shopping centers or grocery stores, the individual can quickly and easily secure the
skateboard to the carrier and wear it on the shoulders. In other cases when the skateboard
is not in use, it can be stored in the carrier and hung on a hook or wall to keep
off the floor and out of the way.
[BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION]
[0006] The present subject matter relates to the invention of a sporting activity board
carrier that is wearable across the back. The two primary user groups of the carrier
are (1) skateboarders and (2) snowboarders.
- (1) Skateboarding is a fun and fast way for people to go from one place to the next.
It is also a fun sporting activity that is enjoyed at skating parks by millions people
of all ages and genders.
- (2) Snowboarding is a favorite recreational sporting activity for millions of people
during the winter months. As its popularity and accessibility increases to a broader
population, the need to accommodate a wider range of people with physical inabilities,
limitations, and need for comfort is increasing.
[0007] With regards to the snowboards, there have been inventions to make the boots more
comfortable when walking with more cushioning, by making the boards more lightweight
and sturdy, etc. These improvements attempt to increase the speed on the slopes, which
for the most part they do, however, they fall short of addressing a key issue, which
is the bulkiness of the snowboards themselves. Snowboards are designed and intended
to be used on the slopes, therefore, a practical solution for carrying the weighty
and cumbersome snowboards around is needed. This invention provides such a solution.

[0008] (1) Skateboards are generally used in skating parks on the ground and on roads. Because
of this, the boards and wheels can pick up dirt, mud, and debris from these surfaces
as well as from the shoes of the individual.
[0009] Secondly, the length of skateboards causes them to generally not fit in average sized
backpacks or bags. As a result, they are carried in the hand which leads to traces
of dirt being transferred to the hand of the individual.
[0010] Lastly, because skateboards are used as a mode of transportation, individuals like
the freedom of grabbing them and go. Skateboards are small and are not equipped with
security lock and key, therefore they must accompany the owner and cannot be left
outside of buildings.
[0011] (2) The current method for carrying snowboards has the following drawbacks. First
of all, snowboards are long, heavy, and cumbersome to carry.
[0012] Secondly, it's difficult to multi-task when carrying the snowboards. When purchasing
tickets for the ski lifts, public transport, getting snacks, and such the like, snowboarders
must find a wall or stand or something to rest the boards against to free their hands.
[0013] Thirdly, because the snowboards are so wide, they cannot be carried on the shoulders
as with skis. Walking from the slippery parking lot to the entry of the some ski resorts
can range in distance from a few meters to a few hundred meters. The snowboarders
would have carried the heavy board in the hand the entire duration. After a long day
on the slopes, the snowboarders must once again carry the heavy boards in their hands.
Individuals who make use of available public transport when commuting to and from
the ski resorts, face challenges of walking long distances with the snowboards in
their hands. The same is true for individuals who enjoy a single day trip to the slopes
and return home after a day of skiing.
[0014] Fourthly, children can find the task of carrying their own snowboard challenging
because, they generally do not have the physical strength in the arms to carry the
board for an extended period of time.
[0015] And finally, snowboards should not be placed on rough surfaces because the bottom
of the board could get scratched and damage the surface or edges that make contact
with the snow. Any dents or deep scratches will negatively affect the performance
of the board and could put the snowboarder in danger.
[SOLUTION]
[0016] It is the purpose of the invention to create a sporting activity board carrier to
overcome and solve the above mentioned drawbacks.
[0017] The rectangular board carrier is lightweight and strong enough to carry one snowboard
or skateboard. Snowboarders and skaters are accustomed to carrying their boards in
their hands when the boards are not in use. The final solution of the present invention
takes this into account and provides an easier carrying method to individuals involved
in board sporting activities. The rectangular board carrier is wearable across the
back with two straps attached to the top and bottom that holds the board suspended
along the length of the back. This will ensure the boards do not interfere with the
head range of motion and will not impede on the walking mobility of the individual.

Fig. 1 (1) Binding: Shows the position of the upper and lower securing Velcro straps
in relation to the snowboard bindings or skateboard wheels while in sporting activity
board carrier.
Fig. 2 shows the detailed components of the sporting activity board carrier,
Fig. 2 (2) Adjusting strap buckle: For the shoulder strap to be able to fit various
body types and sizes, the shoulder strap is adjustable allowing the individual to
adjust the length of the shoulder strap to the desired comfort. Another feature the
buckle is that it easily opens and closes, allowing the individual quickly attach
and detach the carrier to and from the body.
Fig. 2 (3) Drawstring: An option for securing the board. The drawstring can tightly
hold the sporting activity board in place so that they function as one unit in the
carrier. The individual is able to tighten and loosen the drawstring as desired.
Fig. 2 (4) Lower securing Velcro strap: Used below the board bindings or wheels for
securing the skateboard or snowboard to the carrier.
Fig. 2 (5) Shoulder strap: This strap rests comfortably over the shoulders to the
back. The strap is sturdy enough to support the weight of one board.
Fig. 2 (6) Upper securing Velcro strap: Used below the board bindings or wheels for
securing the skateboard or snowboard to the carrier.
Fig. 3 shows additional components of the sporting activity board carrier,
Fig. 3 (7) D-ring: Used for connecting the detachable upper securing Velcro strap
to the clasp.
Fig. 3 (8) Clasp: Used to connect the D-ring to the shoulder strap and making the
carrier function as one unit.
Fig. 3 (9) Sewing of shoulder strap to the lower securing Velcro strap: For maximum
comfort and stability, the shoulder strap is sewn to the lower securing Velcro strap.
This will keep the board in a straight position along the individual's back and keep
the board from interfering with the individual's range of motion while walking.
1. A sporting activity board carrier comprising of adjustable shoulder straps with attached
upper and lower securing straps.
2. A sporting activity board carrier according to Claim 1 where the upper securing Velcro
strap comprises of two D-rings to which the shoulders straps clasp.
3. A sporting activity board carrier according to Claim 1 wherein each said adjustable
shoulder straps comprises of a buckle that easily opens and closes.
4. A sporting activity board carrier according to Claims 1 and 3 wherein said shoulder
straps can be adjusted to torso measurements of the individual enabling comfort and
balance.
5. A sporting activity board carrier defined in Claim 4 wherein the adjustable shoulder
strap buckles are used to quickly attach and detach the carrier to and from the body.
6. A sporting activity board carrier defined in Claims 1 to 5 wherein the individual
carries the activity board against the back without using the hands.
7. A sporting activity board carrier according to Claim 6 wherein the carrier is suitable
to carry one activity board.
