Technical field of the invention
[0001] The invention relates to a silo comprising a cylindrical vessel.
Background of the invention
[0002] DE 197 21 625 C1 discloses a silo with a cylindrical vessel in which a first storage space is present
for storing a dry product and in which a second storage space is present for storing
a wet product.
Summary of the invention
[0003] It is an object of the present invention to provide a silo that is suitable for separate
storage of a wet and a dry product and that is also suitable as a transport container
on a trailer for transporting the products. To this end, the silo according to the
invention is characterized in that it further comprises an inner cylinder that is
concentrically present in the cylindrical vessel and within which a first storage
space is present for storing a dry product, whereby between the outside of the inner
cylinder and the inside of the vessel a second storage space is present for storing
a wet product, and in the second space there are partitions that extend from the inside
of the vessel to the outside of the inner cylinder.
[0004] In the silo according to the invention, both a non-liquid and a liquid product can
be stored in separate spaces and the silo can be used both stationary and for transport
of the substances on a trailer. The partitionsl prevent the liquid product from flowing
unhindered in the axial direction, so that the silo can be transported in a horizontal
position, preventing the liquid from moving violently during acceleration and deceleration.
[0005] The partitions are preferably present perpendicular to the center line of the inner
cylinder so that they maximally slow down the movement of the wet product during transport
of the silo in a horizontal position.
[0006] An embodiment of the silo according to the invention is characterized in that the
partitions are attached to the inside of the vessel over part of the circumference
of the vessel and to the outside of the inner cylinder over part of the circumference
of the inner cylinder. As a result, the compartments between the partitions are connected
to each other so that there is a space in the vessel.
[0007] Preferably, the partitions are attached to the inside of the vessel over half the
circumference and to the outside of the inner cylinder over half of the circumference.
Furthermore, successive partitions are preferably present in an offset manner, viewed
in the circumferential direction, in the axial direction of the vessel.
[0008] A further embodiment of the silo according to the invention is characterized in that
successive partitions are offset by 180 degrees in the axial direction of the vessel,
so that there is a meander-shaped space between the partitions.
[0009] In order to be able to properly fill and empty the silo in both a horizontal position
and a vertical position, the bottom of the silo preferably has a conical shape and
this bottom has an opening in the middle and preferably in the cylinder wall of the
silo a further opening is present.
[0010] Furthermore, there is preferably a vent pipe present in the second space which, in
the case of a vertically positioned silo, extends in the axial direction of the silo
and with one end is located at a distance from the top of the silo and the other end
protrudes through the bottom of the silo.
Brief description of the drawings
[0011] The invention will be further elucidated below on the basis of drawings. These drawings
show an embodiment of the silo according to the present invention. In the drawings:
Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the silo in perspective;
and
Figure 2 shows the silo shown in figure 1 in longitudinal section.
Detailed description of the drawings
[0012] Figures 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the silo according to the invention in perspective
and in longitudinal section respectively. The silo 1 has a cylindrical vessel 3 within
which there is an inner cylinder 5 that is located concentrically in the vessel 3.
In the inner cylinder 5 there is a first storage space 7 for storing a dry product.
A second storage space 9 is present between the outside 5a of the inner cylinder 5
and the inside 3a of the vessel 3 for storing a wet product, for example a liquid.
In the second space 9, partitions 11 are present which extend from the inside 3a of
the vessel 3 to the outside 5a of the inner cylinder 5. These partitions 11 extend
perpendicular to the axis 13 of the inner cylinder 5.
[0013] The partitions 11 are attached over part, preferably half, of the circumference of
the vessel 3 to the inside 3a of the vessel 3 and are attached over part, preferably
half, of the circumference of the inner cylinder 5 to the outside 5a of the inner
cylinder 5. In the axial direction of the vessel 3 the successive partitions 11 are
present offset as seen in the circumferential direction, preferably the successive
partitions 11 are staggered by 180 degrees.
[0014] With the silo 1 in a vertical position, the bottom 15 of the silo has a conical shape
and in the middle of the bottom there is an opening 17 for emptying the first storage
space 7 in the inner cylinder 5. In the cylinder wall 19 of the silo a further opening
21 is present for filling the second storage space 9 in the vessel 3. Furthermore,
a venting pipe 23 is present in the second space 9, which extends in the axial direction
of the silo and is located with an end 23a at a distance from the top 25 of the silo
and protrudes with the other end 23b through the bottom 15 of the silo.
[0015] Although the present invention is elucidated above on the basis of the given drawings,
it should be noted that this invention is not limited whatsoever to the embodiments
shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from
