(57) There is provided a coated paperboard material for use in packages adapted for shelf-life extending heat treatment, for example with steam as a heat medium, comprising a base board provided with a pigment coating to form a surface for printing, which pigment coating comprises a pigment mixture, at least one binder and a zirconium-based compound, wherein the pigment mixture comprises at least 40 wt.% calcium carbonate and at least 10 wt.% clay.
