Technical field of the invention
[0001] The present invention describes a replaceable baseboard formed by a support that
is attached to the wall and a replaceable member joined to the support by temporary
attaching means, thereby generating shaded areas at least on the wall.
Background of the invention
[0002] Baseboards, also called skirting boards, are common elements in construction. The
function of baseboards is to protect the lower portion of the walls from impacts and
prevent chipping on the wall.
[0003] The baseboards are permanently attached to the wall with cements or glues. The baseboard
materials can be marble, terrazzo, wood, etc.
[0004] One of the problems with using baseboards is that masking tape must be used when
the wall is to be painted to avoid staining the baseboards.
[0005] Furthermore, baseboards deteriorate over time. To replace defective baseboards, the
baseboards must be removed from the wall.
[0006] The state of the art shows different replaceable baseboards, but they do not generate
shaded areas on the wall.
[0007] The document closest to the invention
JPS4858495U describes a removable baseboard that comprises a part attached to the wall and a
replaceable member. The part attached to the wall comprises two perpendicular arms
with hooking areas. The replaceable member comprises arms suitable to be coupled to
the arms of the part fixed to the wall. The length of the arms of the part attached
to the wall and the arms of the replaceable member have approximately the same length,
as shown in the figures of this document. The replaceable member has at the upper
end thereof an arm that contacts the wall or a piece of stone, referenced as B.
[0008] The baseboard described by
JPS4858495U generates a shaded area on the floor, but does not generate a shaded area on the
wall. Figure 1. However, this document does not explicitly detail that a shaded area
is generated.
Subject matter of the invention
[0009] The problem solved by the present invention is to develop a baseboard that eliminates
the visual effect of the flatness imperfections that are generated between the edge
of the baseboard and the surface of the baseboard that occurs in traditional baseboards.
[0010] Another problem solved by the invention is saving time when painting the wall since
it is not necessary to use masking tape.
[0011] The solution found by the inventors is a replaceable baseboard formed by a support
with a support area on the wall, two outwardly projecting arms, one lower arm and
one upper arm, and a replaceable member. The length of the replaceable member is greater
than the distance between the arms that support the replaceable member, generating
a shaded area on the wall.
[0012] In a preferred embodiment, a shaded area is also generated on the ground.
[0013] In a more preferred embodiment, the upper support arm is made up of 3 sections perpendicular
to each other.
[0014] The baseboard can be made of any material; in a preferred embodiment the baseboard
is made of plastic materials such that it is not affected by humidity and can be recycled.

Detailed description of the invention
[0016] Figure 1 shows the embodiment of the document closest to the invention,
JPS4858495U. The replaceable baseboard is formed by a support (1) with an area for attaching
to the wall (2). At the lower end of the support (1) it converges towards the ground.
The support attached to the wall contains two arms where a replaceable member is attached
using tabs. The replaceable member has two arms that couple to the support. Additionally,
the upper end of the replaceable member comprises an arm that contacts the wall or
a piece of stone, in this way no shaded areas are generated on the wall.
[0017] The replaceable baseboard of the present invention comprises:
- a. a support (1) with an area for attaching to the wall (2), two outwardly projecting
arms, being one lower arm (4) and one upper arm (5),
- b. a replaceable member (6) wherein the replaceable member (6) is joined to the support
(1) by means for temporarily attaching to the arms (4,5).
[0018] Additionally, it comprises a foot (3) to improve the stabilisation of the support.
The length of the foot (3) is not an essential element for the embodiment of the invention.
In this way, the lower portion of the support (1) can act as a foot or the support
can have the foot (3) rigidly joined to improve stabilisation and for the support
(1) to be perpendicular to the ground.
[0019] The length of the replaceable member (6) must be greater than the distance between
the arms (4, 5) to generate a shaded area (P) on the wall. Additionally, the lower
arm (4) creates a shaded area on the ground (S). Figure 2.
[0020] In another embodiment, as illustrated in Figure 3, the replaceable member (6) is
supported on the wall and the length of the replaceable member (6) is greater than
the distance between the floor and the upper arm (5). In this embodiment, a shaded
area is generated on the wall and the foot (3) is hidden. This embodiment means the
baseboard does not to lift or move.
[0021] The temporary joining means are known to those skilled in the art, such as magnets,
screw hooks/eye bolts, Velcro
®, etc.
[0022] The support (1) is attached to the wall through the attaching area (2) by means known
to those skilled in the art (cements, silicones, screws). Subsequently, the replaceable
member (6) is inserted manually. When the baseboard deteriorates, the replaceable
member (6) is replaced. Similarly, the replaceable member (6) is removed to paint
the wall without using masking tape.
[0023] In a preferred embodiment, the replaceable member (6) contains two arms (8.1, 8.2)
with tabs (9) that fit into the arms (4,5) of the support, the tabs (9) acting as
temporary attaching means, as shown in Figure 4. The length of the arms (8.1, 8.2)
is less than the length of the arms (4.5), unlike
JPS4858495U.
[0024] Figure 5 shows the most preferred embodiment of the invention, wherein:
- the lower arm (4) of the support (1) is formed by two perpendicular sections (4.1,
4.2),
- the upper arm (5) of the support (1) is formed by three perpendicular sections (5.1,
5.2, 5.3), wherein the second section (5.2) projects upwards and the third section
(5.3) projects towards the wall,
- the upper arm (8.2) of the replaceable member fits into the third section of the upper
arm (5.3) of the support (1) and
- intermediate arms (7) suitable for housing cables, lighting elements and providing
rigidity to the system, are provided.
[0025] The embodiment shown in Figure 5 generates shaded areas on the wall (P) and on the
floor (S). The longer the length of the second section (5.2), the greater the shaded
area (P) on the wall.
[0026] The configuration of the upper arm (5.1, 5.2, 5.3) enables the attachment of cables.
