(54) STRAW PROCESSING METHOD AND MACHINE


(57) A processing method and machine (6) for straws (1). It is provided to: supply a plurality of straws (1) to a hopper (7) having, at the bottom, an output opening; move, by means of a retrieving conveyor (8), a holding head (10) configured to hold a straw (1) along a retrieving path (P); grab, in a holding station (S1) arranged along the retrieving path (P) in the area of the output opening of the hopper (7), a straw (1) by means of the holding head (10); and release, in a release station (S2) arranged along the retrieving path (P) downstream of the holding station (S1), the straw (1) from the holding head (10). The holding head (10) has two twin transport assemblies (27), which are mounted so as to move along an adjustment direction (A) parallel to the straw (1) and are each configured to grab a respective portion of the straw (1). The two transport assemblies (27) are moved, by an actuator device (28) upstream of the holding station (S1), along the adjustment direction (A) so as to be placed in a holding position, in which the two transport assemblies (27) are arranged at a first mutual distance (D1). The two transport assemblies (27) are moved, by the actuator device (28) between the holding station (S1) and the release station (S2), along the adjustment direction (A) so as to be placed in a release position, in which the two transport assemblies (27) are arranged at a second mutual distance (D2), which is greater than the first mutual distance (D1).
