(57) A smoking substitute device comprises a cavity for receiving a consumable. The device comprises a sensor configured to detect receipt of the consumable in the cavity. Methods of detecting the receipt of a consumable in a cavity of a smoking substitute device are also described, and smoking substitute systems comprising the device.
