    (54) Delivery cock for containers wherein pasty and/or liquid substances are treated

    (57) A delivery cock for containers for the treatment of pasty and/or liquid substances, comprising an arcuate tubular body member (2) communicating at one end with the bottom (101) of the container (1) associated therewith and provided, in proximity of the other end, with a radial hole (202) directed downwards, and a valve member cooperating with said tubular body member (201) and comprising a disc-shaped valve member (3) having an outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of said tubular body member (201) and means (6,7,9,10) controlling and regulating said valve member to releasably lock said valve member in a first closure position flush with the end of said tubular body member communicating with the bottom of the container; in a second position flush with the other end of said tubular body member downstream of said radial hole; and in a third position wherein the valve member is completely withdrawn from said tubular body member.

    Description

    [0001] This invention relates to a delivery cock for containers wherein the treatment is effected of creamy and/or pasty and/or liquid substances, such as the containers for treating a dense cream, such as pastry cream, and also for treating either liquid or low-viscosity substances.

    [0002] At present, the cocks used for this purpose comprise an arcuate tubular member of large diameter communicating at one end with the bottom of the container to be emptied, and at the opposite end with the atmosphere, and co--operating with a piston-like valve member which can be moved from a closed position flush with the bottom of the container, to an opened position wherein said valve member is completely drawn out the discharge tubular member.

    [0003] Such a cock operates quite satisfactorily with pasty substances, but it operates unsatisfactorily with liquid substances, which are discharged in a violent and uncontrollable rush.

    [0004] The main object of this invention, therefore, is to provide a delivery cock of the type specified above, which can be used satisfactorily either with pasty, dense or liquid substances.

    [0005] According to one aspect, the cock according to the invention comprises an arcuate tubular body member, communicating at one end with the bottom of the container associated therewith, and provided, in proximity of the other end, with a radial hole directed downwards, and a valve member cooperating with said tubular body member and including a disc-shaped valve member having an outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of said tubular body member and means controlling and regulating said valve member to releasably lock said valve member in a first closure position flush with the end of said tubular body member communicating with the bottom of the container; in a second position flush with the other end of said tubular body member downstream of said radial hole; and in a third position wherein the valve member is completely withdrawn from said tubular body member.

    [0006] Other characteristics and advantages of the cock according to the invention will be more apparent in the following description, made with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

    Figure 1 is a sectional view of the cock according to the invention, in the completely closed position;

    Figure 2 is a sectional view of the cock in the first opened position;

    Figure 3 is a sectional view of the cock in the completely opened position; and

    Figure 4 is a detail of the control device for the valve member of the cock according to the invention.

    [0007] With reference to the drawings, the numeral 1 indicates a container having a discharge cock 2 according to the invention fitted at the bottom 101 thereof.

    [0008] The cock 2 comprises a tubular arcuate member 201 of relatively large diameter, extending from the bottom of the container 1 to the discharge position through an arc of about 90°.

    [0009] In proximity of the discharge end, the tubular member 201 comprises a radial hole 202 of reduced diameter and directed downwards.

    [0010] The numeral 3 indicates a valve member comprising a disc member 301 the outer diameter of which is substantially the same as the inner diameter of the tubular member 2, and provided on the peripheral edge thereof with a groove accommodating an annular seal 302. The valve member 3 is secured to an end of a curved stem 4 which is pivoted, in proximity of its opposite end through a radial supporting arm 6, to a pivot 5 located at the bending center of the stem 4 and tubular member 201.

    [0011] The stem 4 is provided with a control knob 401 at the free end thereof.

    [0012] The pivot 5 is secured to a sector member 7 carried by a frame 8 of the machine, said sector member 7 being provided with a plurality of regulating holes 701, 702, 703 co-operating with a pin 9 carried by the arm 6 and urged constantly by a spring 10 towards the holes in the sector member 7, and manually disengageable from said holes against the action of the spring 10.

    [0013] Therefore, in the illustrated embodiment, when the pin 9 is engaged in the hole 703, the valve member 3 is flush with the bottom 101 of the container 1, in the totally closed position shown in Figure 1.

    [0014] From this position, the valve member may be moved to a position of engagement with the hole 702, shown in Figure 2, wherein the valve member closes the end of the tubular member 2 downstream of the hole 202. In this position, any liquid in the container 1 can be discharged through the tubular member 2 and hole 202.

    [0015] Finally, the valve member may be withdrawn completely from the tubular member 2 and locked in the position of Figure 3, wherein the pin 9 is engaged in the hole 701. In this position, the product is discharged preferably through the tubular member 2, and this position is used for pasty substances that would not be discharged through narrow holes.

    [0016] Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment here shown and described, but it includes all those changes and modifications thereof achieving the same utility.

    Claims
