(54) Fuse holder


(57) A fuse holder has a cap (1) with an outer sheath (1c) made of an electrically insulating material. The outer sheath (1c) surrounds the conductive fuse retainer (20) of the cap which retains one end of the fuse (5). A metallic case (12) mounted in the cap (1) is provided with latch tabs (12a) for engagement with L-shaped notches (15a) formed in a metallic ring terminal (15) mounted in a socket. In use, the cap (1) as a whole together with the fuse (5) is completely received in the socket (2) with the latch tabs (12a) on the metallic case (12) releasably engaged with the L-shaped notches (15a) in the metallic ring (15). The length of the sheath (1c) is such as to prevent the other end of the fuse (5) from touching the ring (15) before the end of the sheath reaches the open end (2c) of the socket.
