(57) A pole operator and method of use thereof for adjustment of a luminaire, comprising
a pole (10) having a magnetic cone drive end fitting (22) which is engageable with
a complementary cone-shaped fitting on the luminaire. The cone drive fitting (22)
is rotationally mounted on a tilting pole head (12). The magnetic fitting is switched
on as the pole head is approached to the luminaire, thereby to become substantially
self engaging to the luminaire fitting, and is switched off before disengagement after
the luminaire has been adjusted, thereby enabling its detachment without disturbance
of the adjusted luminaire.
