(54) Method of providing connections for reinforcing bars and joint and connections for such bars


(57) A screw-threaded termination is provided for a deformed rolled steel reinforcing bar, that is a bar with irregularities such as transverse ribs (11) and typically a non-circular core (10). The termination is provided by rolling a screw thread directly on to the surface of the deformed bar without first removing the deformations or machining the bar to a circular section. In a typical application of the bar as a rock anchor a plate (23) is held on to the bar by a nut (22) to anchor surface portions of the rock in position.
