OBJECT OF THE INVENTION.
[0001] The present invention refers to a handle specially built to constitute the complement
or complementary holder of another holder, of a cord, a string or any other element
which, due to its reduced section or to the weight or load that it supports, tends
to produce a cutting effect on the user's hand. Such is the case, for instance, of
parcels having a considerable weight and tied with a string where the string constitutes
the only transporting handle, or the case of - bags with very thin handlers or which
become stilized when the said bags are loaded, as well as those bags which incorporate
a string as closing and holding means
[0002] The complementary handle being proposed herein is usable, as may be further on,
to gather and collect among them several objects provided with holders of the above-mentioned
type.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION.
[0003] In any of the above cited cases, for instance, when it is required to manually transport
a considerable weight having as its only holding means the cord itself with which
it has been tied, the weight obviously concentrates practically on one line, the only
one where the string is supported on the user's hand, which causes a cutting effect
which makes handling extremely uncomfortable, even painful, which in extreme cases
may even result in a true cut, as, for instance, when the package tie has been performed
with a wire element.
[0004] There are working gloves adequatedly structured to avoid such effects, but which
are obviously only used when the - above-mentioned problems are centered on a person
daily - work, being inimaginable to use the said gloves in such sporadic cases as,
for instance, the problem arising on a shopping day in view of the eventual necessity
of picking up a parcel at a transportation company, etc.
[0005] In such sporadic cases, it is a general custom to wrap the cutting handle with a
handkerchief, a piece of cardboard or any other appropiate element, so tending to
considerably increase the said handle surface at the holding area, although, obviously,
any of these solutions is bothersome and little practical.
DESCRIPCION OF THE INVENTION
[0006] The handle proposed by this invention has been conceived to fully satisfactorily
solve these problems, constituting an object easily transportable in the pocket,
which - may even participate in a complementary functionality, such as to constitute
the exorning head of a keyholder, the containing case of a lighter, etc., which may
be used, at - any time, to adopt it to the cutting handle in question, - turning it
into a handle with a large surface, anatomically adaptable to the hand's palm and
which consequently will allow to support considerable weights without suffering the
slightest harm in the hand itself.
[0007] To this end, and more concretely, the handle being proposed is constituted starting
from a monopiece body, preferently obtained by moulding or injection based on rigid
plastic material, with an elongated configuration, according with the hand's width
and with a rounded and dimensionally ample section, with the special particularity
that the said body incorporates a longitudinal groove as an access to its holow inside
and open on both ends, which allows to gather in its inside the string, cord or handle
in question.
[0008] As is evident, and in line with the above-mentioned explanation, in the hollow inside
of this monopiece body may be collected the strings or cords of several parcels acting
then this invention's handle as the union link or common - handle for all them.
[0009] As from this basic structure and in line with a preferred example of a practical
embodiment, said handle will adopt in its area opposed to the above-mentioned longitudinal
groove, an anatomic configuration to adapt the hand fingers in order to facilitate
its grasping, and which, consequently, makes said handle more comfortable in a working
situation.
[0010] Also in line with the above preferred practical embodiment example of the invention,
the monopiece body incorporates two inner longitudinal flanges in correspondence
with the above-mentioned groove, sensibly convergent in such a way that the said flanges
act as retaining means for the holder, thus avoiding an eventual or accidental disengaging
thereof in regard with the cord or handle to which it has been coupled. It may be
mentioned, in this sense, that said flanges have their ends bevelled in order to facilitate
the disengagement of the holder when this is voluntary, since the bevels of any one
of the ends of both flanges configurate an opening divergent towards the ouside,
which facilitates the "concentration" of the handle towards the groove's middle plan.
[0011] It may finally underlined that, as it has also been - previously said, this monopiece
body may constitute an isolated element, with no other utility than the one exposed,
or either be fitted with any other complementary utility, constituting, for instance,
the exorning head of a keyholder, the containing case of a lighter, etc., without
this affecting the invention essence, and with no other trouble than adequately modifying
its inner structure.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0012] In order to complete the description being made and in order to help to a better
comprehension of this invention specification, it is enclosed to the present specification,
as an integral part thereof, one drawing sheet in which, with an illustrative non
limitative character, has been represented the following:
Figure 1 showing a side elevation view of a complemen tary handle for cutting holders
or similar, performed according with the subject of the present invention.
Figure 2 showing a profil of the same handle.
Figure 3 showing a cross-section of the handle according with the cutting line A-B
of Figure 1.
Figure 4 showing a further cross-section, in this case according with the cutting
line C-D of same Figure 1.
Figure 5 showing a longitudinal section of the handle, according with the cutting
line E-F of Figure 2.
Figures 6 and 7, showing finally two of the multiple possible practical embodiments
of the handle respectively corresponding to its realization in the exorning head
of a keyholder, or the containing case of a cigarette lighter.
PREFERENTIAL EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0013] From the examination of these figures, it may be noted that the complementary handle
being proposed is constituted as from a monopiece body (1) which, as it has already
been said above, will be preferentially obtained based on rigid plastic material,
with an elongated body of considerable - section and provided with a longitudinal
groove (2) to access to its hollow inside (3), which will, besides, be open on its
ends, as it may be perfectly noted on Figure 5.
[0014] The body is fitted in its outside with a series of protuberances (5) and notches
(6), alternated, disposed in opposition to groove (2) being determinant on an anatomic
surface to adapt the hand fingers, with the obvious exception of the thumb, for which
there will be four notches (6) uniformly distributed as may also be seen in Figure
5.
[0015] The hollow inside of the monopiece body (1) is destinated to hold, receiving it
through the groove 2, the cutting handle (7) or similar element in question, belonging
to the bag (8) or to another object.
[0016] In line with a preferential practical embodiment of the invention, the monopiece
body (1) will be provided in correspondence with the edges of groove (2), with longitudi
nal flanges (9), each turned onto its inside, acting as retaining means disabling
an eventual or accidental disengaging of the holder or similar (7), since in the
event of an also eventual turn, for instance, of body (1), the handle will be engaged
in one of the necks (10) defined by these flanges (9).
[0017] That notwithstanding, said flanges (9) present their extreme edges (11) bevelled,
as it may also be noted on Figure 5, in order to facilitate the disengagement of
the handle (7) when this is done voluntarily.
[0018] As from this basic strecture, it is feasible to convert the body (1) into an exorning
head for a keyholder by just opening on it a small orifice (12) in the appropiate
place as shown on Figure 6, for the engagement of the chain (13) which will relate
the head (1) with the keyholder ring or either, and in line with the representation
of Figure (7), the housing for the holder (7) may be majoritarilly reduced in such
a way that withing the body (1) a second majoritary housing be established, open
towards one of the body ends and closed on the other, transforming the handle into
the exorning case of a cigarette lighter (15). Obviously, these two possibilities
shown on Figures 6 and 7 are merely as examples, since the handle may have any other
- complementary and different function from those exposed above.
[0019] It is considered unnecessary to make a more extensive explanation for any expert
in this subject to understand the scope of this invention and the advantages derived
therefrom.
[0020] The materials, shape, size and disposition of all elements are susceptible of changes,
providing this means no alteration of the invention essenciality.
[0021] The terms with which this specification has been described should always be taken
in their widest and non-limitative sense.
1. A complementary handle for cutting holders and similar, essencially characterized
in that it is constituted by a monopiece body (1) preferentially obtained by moulding
or injection based on rigid plastic material, elongated, hollow, open on one of its
ends and provided of a longitudinal groove for the access of the cutting holder to
its inside, having been previewed that the said body will incorporate in its area
opposed to groove (2), rounded protuberances (5) alternated with also rounded notches
(6), determining an anatomic profile for holding onto the - user's hand fingers.
2. A complementary handle for cutting holders and similar as per claim 1, characterized
in that the monopiece - body incorporates, in correspondence with the edges of its
