    Description

    Technical Field



    [0001] The present invention relates to a method in applying a cleaning liquid on a paper web in a printing press by means of a rotating applicator roll in an applicator having an applicator housing. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out this method.

    Background Art



    [0002] Devices of the kind defined above are earlier known, for example through DE-A-33 06 266. Other solutions of a similar kind are shown in DE-B-1 179 223 and CH-A-515 752. The aim of such devices is to provide the paper web with a cleaning liquid, which normally can be based on a mineral oil or a vegetable oil but not on water and which by the web is intended to be brought to such parts as cylinders in the printing press that shall be cleaned from printing ink and lint. When the device is not used (during the printing of the paper web in the press), the applicator roll shall not be in contact with the paper web.

    [0003] In a known device the applicator roll is applied against a dip roll, which extends down into the cleaning liquid. When the device is to be used, the applicator roll - in contact with the dip roll - is laterally pushed partly out of the housing into contact with the paper web, and the two rolls are rotated for cleaning liquid transmission to the web.

    [0004] Due to the fact that the device includes two rolls and mechanical means for their handling, it is rather complicated and expensive. It is further not protected against printing ink, lint and similar dirt, formed in the printing press during its service.

    The Invention



    [0005] A solution to these problems is according to the invention obtained in that the applicator roll extends down into the cleaning liquid contained in the applicator housing and is pushed out from the housing into contact with the paper web at the transition from an inoperative position into an operative position, a cover otherwise closing the housing herewith being opened.

    [0006] It is advantageous but not necessary that the same means are utilized for pushing the applicator roll forward and for lifting the cover.

    [0007] In a practical embodiment the above mentioned means comprise a support arm, which is intended for pivotal support of the applicator roll and is pivotally connected to the applicator housing bottom, a hydraulic cylinder, that is arranged between a pivotal fastening in the rear part of the housing and the roll, and a lift arm, which is attached to the lower side of the cover, is pivotally attached to a pivot pin in the rear part of the housing and rests against a lift lever extending rearwardly from the support arm.

    [0008] A support arm, a hydraulic cylinder and a lift arm are preferably arranged at each end of the applicator roll.

    [0009] The applicator roll is preferably provided with an internal drive motor for its rotation.

    [0010] The invention shall be further described below under reference to the attached drawings, in which Fig 1 is side view, partly in section, of an applicator according to the invention in a closed, inoperative position, Fig 2 is a view corresponding to Fig 1 with the applicator in an open, operative position and Fig 3 is a top view of a left part of the applicator; all figures are slightly schematical and only show those parts of the applicator which are important for understanding the invention.

    Description of a Preferred Embodiment



    [0011] In a way not shown or described an applicator shown in the drawings is intended to be mounted in the immediate vicinity of a substantially vertical paper web in a printing press. The purpose of the applicator is to transmit to the paper web a cleaning liquid in the applicator, the liquid being carried by the paper web for cleaning different parts of the printing press.

    [0012] The applicator has a housing, consisting of a beam 1, which can be extruded in one piece of aluminium, and gables 2, of which only a left gable is shown in Fig 3. This housing 1, 2 is liquid tight and is thus intended to contain cleaning liquid up to a certain level.

    [0013] An applicator roll 3 is rotatably arranged in the housing 1, 2. The internal design of the roll 3 appears from Fig 3. Fig 3 shows the left part of the applicator, and the right part has a corresponding design with the exception of a drive arrangement described below. The roll 3 has a cylindrical shell 4, which is rotatable journalled by means of a bearing 6 on a motor house 5 centrally arranged. An electric motor 7, preferably equipped with a reduction gearing, is arranged in the motor house 5. The electric motor 7 can drive the applicator shell 4 via a drive disc 8. The motor house 5 and thus the applicator roll 3 are supported by the housing in a way further described below via an excentrically arranged support pin 9.

    [0014] A support arm 10 (at each end of the housing 1, 2) is pivotally arranged between a pivot pin 11 in the lower part of the beam 1 and the support pin 9. A hydraulic cylinder 12 (at each end of the housing) is pivotally attached with a rear end in the lower, rear part of the beam 1 at 13 and with a piston rod end pivotally attached to the support pin 9.

    [0015] An extension of the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder 12 under the influence of oil under pressure from the inoperative position of Fig 1 will lead to a pivotal movement of the applicator roll 3 and the support arm 10 around the pivot pin 11 to an operative position shown in Fig 2.

    [0016] The housing 1, 2 is provided with a completely closing cover 14, the purpose of which is to protect the inner parts of the applicator in an inoperative position against the intrusion of printing ink, lint and similar dirt present in a printing press in service.

    [0017] This cover has to be removed, when the applicator is brought to its operative position according to Fig 2, which can be accomplished by means of the design described below.

    [0018] On its lower side the cover 14 is provided with an arch shaped lift arm 15, which is pivotally attached in the lower, rear part of the beam 1 at a pivot pin 16. The support arm 10 has a lift leg 10', which extends rearwardly and is terminated by a roller 17 in contact with the lift arm 15.

    [0019] At the pivoting movement to the left of the support arm 10 about the pivot pin 11 under the influence of the hydraulic cylinder 12 at the transition from the position according to Fig 1 to that according to Fig 2 the lift leg 10' is lifted, so that the lift arm 15 and thus the cover 14 are lifted. With the cover 14 lifted away the applicator roll 3 has a possibility to move with a part of its circumference out of the housing 1, 2 for coming in contact with a substantially vertical paper web 18, on which cleaning liquid from the applicator housing 1, 2 shall be applied by means of the applicator roll 3.

    [0020] In order to obtain the best possible application it is preferred to drive the applicator roller 3 in a direction contrary to that of the paper web 18.

    [0021] In the embodiment shown and described the paper web 18 is substantially vertical, but within the scope of the appended claims it is also possible to imagine embodiments of the invention where the paper web is horizontal or moves in some other direction.


    Claims

    1. A method in applying a cleaning liquid on a paper web (18) in a printing press by means of a rotating applicator roll (3) in an applicator having an applicator housing (1, 2), characterized in that the applicator roll (3) extends down into the cleaning liquid contained in the applicator housing (1, 2) and is pushed out from the housing into contact with the paper web (18) at the transition from an inoperative position into an operative position, a cover (14) otherwise closing the housing herewith being opened.
     
    2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that the same means (10, 12, 15) are utilized for pushing the applicator roll (3) forward and for opening the cover (14).
     
    3. A device at an applicator for applying a cleaning liquid on a paper web (18) in a printing press by means of a rotating applicator roll (3) in an applicator having an applicator housing (1, 2), characterized by means (10, 12) for pushing the applicator roll (3), which extends directly down into the cleaning liquid in the applicator housing (1, 2), forward from the housing into contact with the paper web (18) and by means (15) for herewith lifting a cover (14) from the housing at the transition from an inoperative position to an operative position.
     
    4. A device according to claim 3, characterized by common means (10, 12, 15) for pushing the applicator roll (3) forward and to remove the cover (14).
     
    5. A device according to claim 3 or 4, characterized by a support arm (10), which is intended for pivotal support of the applicator roll (3) and is pivotally attached in the bottom of the applicator housing (1, 2), and a hydraulic cylinder (12), that is arranged between a pivotal attachment (13) in the rear part of the housing and the roll, and a lift arm (15), which is attached to the lower side of the cover (14), is pivotally attached to a pivot pin (16) in the rear part of the housing and rests against a lift leg (10') extending rearwardly from the support arm (10).
     
    6. A device according to claim 5, characterized in that a support arm (10), a hydraulic cylinder (12) and a lift arm (15) are arranged at each end of the applicator roll (3).
     
    7. A device according to any of claims 3 - 6, characterized in that the applicator roll (3) is provided with an internal drive motor (7) for its rotation.
     


    Ansprüche

    1. Verfahren zum Auftragen einer Reinigungsflüssigkeit auf eine Papierbahn (18) in einer Druckpresse mit Hilfe einer drehenden Auftragwalze (3) in einem Applikator mit einem Applikatorgehäuse (1, 2), dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Auftragwalze (3) sich nach unten in die Reinigungsflüssigkeit erstreckt, die in dem Applikatorgehäuse (1, 2) enthalten ist, und aus dem Gehäuse in Berührung mit der Papierbahn (18) gedrückt wird bei einem Übergang aus einer Ruhestellung in eine Arbeitsstellung, wobei ein ansonsten das Gehäuse verschließender Deckel (14) geöffnet wird.
     
    2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die gleichen Mittel (10, 12, 15) zum Drücken der Auftragwalze (3) nach vorn und zum Öffnen des Deckels (14) verwendet werden.
     
    3. Vorrichtung an einem Applikator zum Auftragen einer Reinigungsflüssigkeit auf eine Papierbahn (18) in einer Druckpresse mit Hilfe einer sich drehenden Auftragwalze (3) in einem ein Applikatorgehäuse (1, 2) aufweisenden Applikator, gekennzeichnet durch eine Einrichtung (10, 12) zum Drücken der Auftragwalze (3), die sich direkt nach unten in die Reinigungsflüssigkeit in dem Applikatorgehäuse (1, 2) erstreckt, aus dem Gehäuse heraus nach außen in Berührung mit der Papierbahn (18), und eine Einrichtung zum damit einhergehenden Anheben eines Deckels (14) von dem Gehäuse beim Übergang von einer Ruhestellung in eine Arbeitsstellung.
     
    4. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 3, gekennzeichnet durch gemeinsame Mittel (10, 12, 15) zum Drücken der Auftragwalze (3) nach vorn und zum Entfernen des Deckels (14).
     
    5. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 3 oder 4, gekennzeichnet durch einen Lagerarm (10), der zur schwenkbaren Lagerung der Auftragwalze (3) vorgesehen und schwenkbar am Boden des Applikatorgehäuses (1, 2) befestigt ist, und einen Hydraulikzylinder (12), der zwischen einer Schwenkbefestigung (13) im hinteren Teil des Gehäuses und der Walze angeordnet ist, und einen Hubarm (15), der an der unteren Seite des Deckels (14) befestigt ist, schwenkbar an einem Schwenkzapfen (16) im hinteren Teil des Gehäuses befestigt ist, und gegen einen Hebefuß (10') anliegt, der sich von dem Lagerarm (10) aus nach hinten erstreckt.
     
    6. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein Lagerarm (10), ein Hydraulikzylinder (12) und ein Hubarm (15) an jedem Ende der Auftragwalze (3) angeordnet sind.
     
    7. Vorrichtung nach einem der Ansprüche 3 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Auftragwalze (3) mit einem internen Antriebsmotor (7) für ihre Drehung ausgestattet ist.
     


    Revendications

    1. Procédé pour appliquer un liquide de nettoyage sur une bande de papier (18) dans une presse d'impression au moyen d'un rouleau applicateur rotatif (3) dans un applicateur comportant un boîtier d'applicateur (1, 2), caractérisé en ce que le rouleau applicateur (3) s'étend vers le bas dans le liquide de nettoyage contenu dans le boîtier d'applicateur (1, 2) et est poussé hors du boîtier pour entrer en contact avec la bande de papier (18) lors du passage d'une position inopérante à une position opérante, un couvercle (14) fermant autrement le boîtier qui se trouve alors ouvert.
     
    2. Procédé selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que les mêmes moyens (10, 12, 15) sont utilisés pour pousser le rouleau applicateur (3) vers l'avant et pour ouvrir le couvercle (14).
     
    3. Dispositif dans un applicateur pour appliquer un liquide de nettoyage sur une bande de papier (18) dans une presse d'impression au moyen d'un rouleau applicateur rotatif (3) dans un applicateur comportant un boîtier d'applicateur (1, 2), caractérisé par des moyens (10, 12) pour pousser le rouleau applicateur (3), qui s'étend directement vers le bas dans le liquide de nettoyage dans le boîtier d'applicateur (1, 2), vers l'avant depuis le boîtier pour qu'il entre en contact avec la bande de papier (18) et par un moyen (15) pour soulever alors un couvercle (14) du boîtier lors du passage d'une position inopérante à une position opérante.
     
    4. Dispositif selon la revendication 3, caractérisé par des moyens communs (10, 12, 15) pour pousser le rouleau applicateur (3) vers l'avant et pour ôter le couvercle (14).
     
    5. Dispositif selon la revendication 3 ou 4, caractérisé par un bras de support (10), qui est destiné à supporter en pivotement le rouleau applicateur (3) et est fixé de manière à pivoter dans la base du boîtier d'applicateur (1, 2), et un cylindre hydraulique (12), qui est agencé entre une fixation pivotante (13) dans la partie arrière du boîtier et le rouleau, et un bras de levage (15), qui est fixé à la face inférieure du couvercle (14), est fixé de manière à pivoter à un pivot (16) dans la partie arrière du boîtier et repose contre un jambage de levage (10') s'étendant vers l'arrière du bras de support (10).
     
    6. Dispositif selon la revendication 5, caractérisé en ce qu'un bras de support (10), un cylindre hydraulique (12) et un bras de levage (15) sont agencés à chaque extrémité du rouleau applicateur (3).
     
    7. Dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications 3 à 6, caractérisé en ce que le rouleau applicateur (3) est doté d'un moteur d'entraînement interne (7) pour sa rotation.
