[0001] The purpose of this request for a Patent is an improved bullet-proof device that
provides for the function for which it is intended various advantages to be detailed
later on, apart from others inherent to its organization and constitution.
[0002] More specifically, a bullet-proof device has been designed in the invention that
has noteworthy advantages and novelties compared to the present bullet-proof devices
or materials, the structure of which can be applied both to the manufacture of bullet-proof
vests as well as to many other applications, such as cars, helmets and others, as
this invention presents maximum resistance to projectiles, weapons and, in short,
to all types of impact, together with many other advantages which will be described
later on.
HISTORY
[0003] At present and as a reference to the state-of-the-art, it should be mentioned that
the bullet-proof vests and devices of today are made of aramide plates and other materials,
joined together by resin forming a sandwich type group.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The improved bullet-proof device, purpose of this invention, is made up of a variable
number of aramide or similar material band layers, partially overlapped in a parallel
way, with the peculiarity that the successive band layers are alternately arranged
in the horizontal and vertical positions, respectively, crossed and intercrossed,
or forming various combinations with other materials. Thus the invention has multiple
performance variants, such as the formation of the device based completely on intercrossed
bands; unwoven bands (cut from clothing, etc.); stiff bands and layers; bands and
a structure that provides stiffness to the set; a materials formed by intercrossed
layers where each layer has individual layers and band parallelism with bands already
crossed, as well as any other possible combination.
[0005] The device of the invention has better anti-trauma protection, that is it reduces
the deformation depth of the impact, as the special arrangement of its intercrossed
band layers not only do not let the projectile or similar pass through but also create
a mesh or net that traps the projectile and does not let it penetrate the material.
Therefore, as the projectile advances it meets with more and more resistance during
its path and the crossed material acts as a brake, because what really stops the projectile
is the stress made by the most perpendicular threads to its path, produced on a large
scale and geometrically multiplying the efficiency of the device.
[0006] One of the main advantages of said device is that it does not lose its bullet-proof
qualities with the first shot, due to the fact that, as described in the above paragraph,
only two bands touch, one vertical and the other horizontal, in such a way that the
device keeps on maintaining its properties for more impacts as the deformation is
precise and does not extend through the surface of the device, thus increasing the
performance and durability of the device.
[0007] Furthermore, it should be mentioned that as the material is based on bands, it is
completely moldable as opposed to the stiff plates of which the present bullet-proof
vests and devices are made. Therefore, the convenience when making bullet-proof vests
or other clothing by weaving bands is much greater for the persons who makes them
and for the person who has to wear this clothing for long periods of time, apart from
being flexible and light thanks to its mentioned constitution and design.

of the characteristics of the invention, this descriptive report includes a set of
drawings in which the most significant details are represented in an illustrative
but not limiting way.

PERFORMANCE EXAMPLE DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0010] In view of the figures commented above and in accordance with the numbering used,
various examples constituting different performance alternatives of the invention
can be seen. The invention consists of an improved bullet-proof device made up of
aramide or similar material band layers -1-, partially overlapped in a parallel way
so that the successive band layers are arranged alternately in the horizontal and
vertical positions and are intercrossed, as shown in figure 5. They could also be
interlaced or in various combinations with other materials, as shown in figures 1
to 4. In all cases, the advantages described above are obtained as regards all types
of impact, as well as many other advantages arising from the physical, constructive
and functional properties of each performance variant that this invention can offer.
[0011] Thus, as an example, in figure 1 a performance variant of the invention can be seen,
in which stiff layers -2- have been added to the previous band layers -1-.
[0012] In figure 2 another performance variant of the invention is shown in which the band
layers -1- are included between two groups of stiff layers -2-.
[0013] Figure 3 shows another performance variant of the invention in which stiff layers
of different materials -2-2'-in various combinations have been added to the band layers.

1. IMPROVED BULLET-PROOF DEVICE for making bullet-proof vests or for protecting people
or objects from possible impacts, characterized by the fact that it is made up of
a variable number of aramide or similar material band layers, partially overlapped
in a preferably parallel way so that the successive band layers are preferably arranged
in alternate horizontal and vertical positions, intercrossed or interlaced or in various
combinations with other materials.
2. IMPROVED BULLET-PROOF DEVICE, according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that
it is completely made up of intercrossed bands in a performance variant of the invention.
3. IMPROVED BULLET-PROOF DEVICE, according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that
it is formed by unwoven material in a performance variant of the invention, as for
example bands cut from pieces of clothing.
4. IMPROVED BULLET-PROOF DEVICE, according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that
it is formed by bands and stiff layers in a performance variant of the invention.
5. IMPROVED BULLET-PROOF DEVICE, according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that
it is formed by bands and a structure able to provide the device with solidity in
a performance variant of the invention.
6. IMPROVED BULLET-PROOF DEVICE, according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that
it is formed by interlaced layers in which each layer has a parallelism between individual
layers and bands with intercrossed bands in a performance variant of the invention.
