(54) Section for jointing coverings, particularly suitable for floors and provided with interposed elastic element

(57) The invention is a new joint for floor or wall coverings, provided with an elastic element interposed between the base section in the shape of an overturned T and the covering section. The elastic element comprises an element with substantially U-shaped section that is interposed between the vertical parts of the base element and of the upper element. It is thus possible to extract the upper or covering section without damaging the base section, ensuring the easy replacement of the upper section.

Description

[0001] The invention concerns covering joints and in particular it concerns joints for floor coverings.

[0002] Floor covering joints are known, which comprise a base section, generally in the shape of an overturned T, to be fixed under the covering along the joint line, and a section that may have various shapes that covers the joint line and is fixed into the overturned T-section.

[0003] In detail, the central body of the base overturned T-section is constituted by two parallel walls provided with knurls on the opposite facing surfaces, that is, the inner surfaces of the resulting U shape, while the covering joint is provided with a lower linear protrusion with knurls on the two side surfaces.

[0004] The covering section is subjected to wear, especially if it is applied onto much trodden on floors.

[0005] The wear may be such as to wear out the paint or surface finishing of the covering section or even to deform the covering section itself.

[0006] Whenever it is necessary to replace or to remove the floor covering and therefore the covering section, it is necessary to remove also the base overturned U-section, since the fixing of the two is irreversible.

[0007] Following this operation, it is therefore necessary to replace the base overturned T-section and the edge strip of the floor covering.

[0008] In order to eliminate all the drawbacks mentioned above, a new section has been designed and implemented, which is provided with a generically U-shaped intermediate elastic element for the removable connection of the overturned T-section with the covering section.

[0009] The new elastic element comprises a U-shaped section provided with knurls on both walls of the two parallel wings.

[0010] The distance between the two parallel wings of the U-shaped section of the new elastic element is practically the same as the thickness of the lower linear protrusion of the covering section.

[0011] The new elastic element is preferably made of plastic materials, such as nylon, rubber or other thermoformed materials in general.

[0012] It is also possible to develop a variant application of the invention, in which the new elastic element is constituted by bent plate.

[0013] The new elastic element constructed as described above is inserted between the lower protrusion of the covering section and the two parallel walls of the overturned T-section.

[0014] The knurled walls of the elastic element make it possible to introduce the overturned T-section between the two parallel walls and to hold the lower protrusion of the covering section.

[0015] At the same time, the elastic element ensures the comfortable removal of the covering section, with no need to remove or damage the overturned T-section.

[0016] The new elastic element can be extended for the whole length of the overturned T-section or divided in short parts distributed along the overturned T-section at given intervals.

[0017] The following is a practical application among many of the invention in question, illustrated in the enclosed drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 shows the overturned T-section (T), the covering section (C) and the new elastic element (E) still separated from one another, while Figure 2 shows the three parts assembled and installed on a floor covering (R).

Figure 3 shows the solution in which the elastic element (E) is constituted by a bent metal section.

Figure 4 shows a three-quarter view.

[0018] Therefore, with reference to the above description and the enclosed drawings, the following claims are put forth.

Claims

1. Section for jointing coverings, particularly suitable for floors, comprising a base section in the shape of an overturned T and a covering section, characterized in that it is provided with an elastic element interposed between the vertical parts of said base section in the shape of an overturned T and of said covering section, and wherein said elastic element is constituted by an element with substantially U-shaped section.

2. Section for jointing coverings, particularly suitable for floors according to claim 1, characterized in that the inner and outer walls of the side wings of said elastic element are knurled.
