[0001] The present invention refers to a bag for boxing training and fighting, that can
be used in particular in all those sports where fighting gloves are used (for example,
boxing, kick-boxing, etc.).
[0002] Various training bags are known in the art, commonly realised in two types: the first
type provides for a cylindrical bag hanged to a ceiling or a wall, while the second
type provides for a bag composed of a base resting on a floor and a body abutting
onto the base and that is connected more or less elastically to the base itself.
[0003] The most common problem of these types of bags is that they are scarcely elastic
and quickly tend to wear and break after a prolonged use, due to such lack of elasticity.
Their breakage, in addition to the problems deriving from the padding material or
the sand and 'like materials contained therein that go out of the bag, implies the
need of completely replacing the bag itself, with evident disadvantages of cost and
new installation.
[0004] Object of the present invention is solving the above prior-art problems, by providing
a bag in a single piece, that is very elastic and quickly goes back into its starting
position, thereby allowing a better training to its users. Moreover, such bag has
a much longer working life than the commonly marketed bags.
[0005] A further object of the present invention is providing a bag with a strong base and
a working section that is very elastic and quickly goes back into its starting position,
thereby allowing a better training to its users. Also such bag has a much longer working
life than the commonly marketed bags.
[0006] A further object of the present invention is being able to equip the inventive bags
with a series of accessories that modify and widen its possibilities of use.
[0007] The above and other objects and advantages of the invention, as will appear from
the following description, are obtained by a bag as claimed in Claims 1 and 2. Preferred
embodiments and non-trivial variations of the present invention are claimed in the
dependent Claims.
[0008] The present invention will be better described by some preferred embodiments thereof,
given as a non-limiting example, with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 is a side view of an embodiment of a bag according to the present invention;
- Figure 2 is a side sectional view of another embodiment of a bag according to the
present invention;
- Figure 3 is a side sectional view of a further embodiment of a bag according to the
present invention;
- Figure 4 is a side view of another embodiment of a bag according to the present invention;
- Figure 5 is a side sectional view of another embodiment of a bag according to the
present invention;
- Figure 6 is a side sectional view of a further embodiment of a bag according to the
present invention; and
- Figure 7 is a side sectional view of a further embodiment of a bag according to the
present invention.
[0009] With reference to the Figures, a non-limiting example is disclosed of an embodiment
of the bag 1 for boxing training and fighting of the present invention.
[0010] In an embodiment thereof, shown in Fig. 1, such bag 1 has as major characteristic
the fact that it is realised in a single body, which comprises:
- a support base 3 adapted to be placed on a plane surface and having a bearing surface
7 on such plane surface; and
- an elongated working section 11, which is realised of the same material and in a single
body in order to be placed onto the support base 3 and has a cross section that is
less than the bearing section 7 of the support base 3: this working section 11 is
adapted to laterally oscillate with respect to its own longitudinal axis when it receives
a stroke, a kick or a punch by a user and is adapted to go back into its starting
position elastically due to the nature of the material of which it is composed.
[0011] According to a further embodiment, shown in Fig. 4, the bag 1 for boxing training
and fighting of the invention comprises:
- a support base 103 adapted to be placed on a plane surface and having a bearing surface
107 on the plane surface; and
- an elongated working section 111 that is realised of a softer material than the material
of which the support base 103 is composed and is adapted to be placed onto and joined
to the support base 103: such elongated working section 111 has a cross section that
is less than the bearing section 107 of the support base 103.
[0012] In this case, the elongated working section 111 is directly placed onto the support
base 103 by sliding it onto connection means 104, that are usually composed of a short
vertical support core of plastic material, that is preferably made integral with the
support base 103. Also in this case, the elongated working section 111 is made of
a single body of a soft, elastic material, such material having such a nature as to
enable the elongated working section 111 to bend and laterally oscillate with respect
to its own longitudinal axis when it receives a stroke, a kick or a punch by a user
and to go back into its starting position elastically after being bent and oscillated.
[0013] In the case shown in Fig. 7, instead, the connection means 104 are composed of an
elongated vertical support core of plastic material, that is preferably made integral
with the support base 103: the difference between the two arrangements in Fig. 1 and
7 is that, in the case shown in Fig. 1, the working section 111 is able to oscillate
after a blow or a punch, while in the case shown in Fig. 7, the oscillation of the
working section 111 are much smaller and shorter, and the bag 1 in this case is adapted
to be used as a sort of "fixed" bag 1, that is more useful for beginners which could
find it difficult to punch or kick a widely-moving bag 1.
[0014] The support base 103 is adapted to be filled with water, sand or similar material,
in order to enable it, when is empty, to be moved in desired operating places, and
then to enable it, when is filled with such water, sand or similar material, to be
securely held in position in order to unmovably support the bag 1.
[0015] Alternatively, the support base 3, 103 can be integrated by another base made of
wood or other equivalent material, to be placed around the support base 3, 103 itself.
[0016] In practice and commonly, the working section 11, 111 has a substantially cylindrical
shape and the support base 3, 103 has a bearing section 7, 107 of a circular shape
and greater than the circular section of the working section 11, 111.
[0017] As regards the choice of the most suitable material, in the embodiment in Fig. 1
the support base 3 and the working section 11 realised in a single body are made of
foamed material, particularly of foamed polyurethane.
[0018] In the embodiment in Fig. 4, instead, preferably the support bases 103 is made of
rigid plastic material and the working section 111 is made of foamed material, preferably
foamed polyurethane.
[0019] According to a possible variation shown in Fig. 2 or 5, the bag 1 of the invention
can further be equipped with a central elongated support core 14 placed in the support
base 3, 103 and that partially extends in the working section 11, 111. Such central
core 14 is generally of a substantially cylindrical shape, and is made of polyurethane
or iron.
[0020] Moreover, always according to the variation in Fig. 2 or 5, the bag 1 can further
be equipped with a reinforcement duct 16 placed around the central core 14 and separated
therefrom by a partitioning wall 18: this reinforcement duct 16 is adapted to be filled
with working material 19, that commonly is sand or water.
[0021] Moreover, the bag 1 of the invention is equipped with a lower sealing and reinforcement
ring 20 placed around the bearing section 7, 107 of the support base 3, 103.
[0022] According to a further variation shown in Fig. 3 or 6, then, the bag 1 of the invention
can further be equipped, in its opposite part with respect to the support base 3,
103, with at least one pair of arms 22, 24 coated with boxing gloves 26, 28 or other
repair and fighing means for hands (or feet).
[0023] Such arms 22, 24 can be placed in mutually offset positions that reproduce the guard
position in boxing fighting, and for the purpose of changing the guard for a better
training, the arms 22, 24 can be equipped with junctions and stops adapted to set
the right or left guard position and then secure it for training purposes.
[0024] Moreover, according to another variation, the arms 22, 24 can be made of at least
three components that are mutually linked and reproduce the joint of shoulder, elbow
and wrist, and the arms 22, 24 are connected to an automatic device 30 adapted to
casually and alternately control the movement of each one of the arms 22, 24 from
a retired guard position to an extended stroke position.
[0025] The above-described bag 1, and its numerous variations thereof that can be immediately
evident for a skilled person in the art, is thereby adapted to be used in sports like
boxing, kick-boxing, etc, forming a long-lasting, elastic means whose functionality
is much greater than the one of pre-existing bags.
