(54) Self-fastening disposable cloth

(57) Disposable cloth provided with inside fastenings made up of pliable and resistant plates arranged round the perimeter of the table.

Description

[0001] This invention concerns the realization of disposable cloths provided with integrated fastenings.

[0002] Nowadays restaurant owners are increasingly interested in disposable items such as coffee cups or paper cloths rather than cotton cloths for both hygienic, practical and cost-effective reasons.

[0003] In particular, disposable paper cloths are more practical than cotton cloths as restaurant owners do not have to wash them and replace them, thus saving a lot of money and time.

[0004] However, in addition to these advantages, disadvantages shall also be taken into account since paper cloths are less stable than cotton ones and therefore they tend to gliss on flat surfaces, to bend and do not suit tables perfectly, thus being uncomfortable.

[0005] As a consequence, metal fastenings were invented. Although they solve the problem of stability they lack practicalness, functionality and aesthetics. Furthermore, when restaurants are very busy it is important to serve and dress tables quickly.

[0006] Disposable cloths with fastenings provides for at least 3 steps :

1. removal of fastenings

2. replacement of the cloth

3. re-arrangement of fastenings

that sometimes can cause inconvenience like the tearing of the cloth.

[0007] Furthermore, they must be stored up or eventually replaced after use and maybe counted that is to say metal fastenings shall be managed since they are not disposable like cloths. Although they lack practicality they solve the problem of stability.

[0008] As a matter of fact, the whole solution cloth-fastening is actually a hybrid between disposable and multipurpose. Furthermore, metal fastenings are not very nice and although they are very useful in fast-food restaurants they do not suit elegant restaurants. Finally they can even be a problem since also dresses, in particolar those in wool, can get entangled in these fastenings. This is the reason why disposable cloths were invented. They are called PLIXER and do not need external supports, thus solving the problems caused by fastenings. As a matter of fact, such cloths are provided with integrated fastenings, thus making the cloth entirely disposable.

[0009] Actually, fastenings are made of pliable and resistent plates which are fixed in the inner part of the cloth around the perimeter of the table.

[0010] In particular, the material used for plates varies according to different factors. Therefore, the choice of the material shall take into account the following:

1. the material of the cloth that could be cellulose, non-woven fabric, fabric paper and so on ;

2. the grams per square meter;

3. the thickness of the plate;

so that it can always be the best compromise between pliability and resistance.

[0011] As a matter of fact, plates shall easily fit different kinds of tables, or better of corners, and at the same time shall be resistent to stress.

[0012] Two figures show the functioning of fastenings.

[0013] Figure 1 shows the plate. It is made up of a central squared part called core and of two small rectangular side wings called fastenings.

[0014] Consequently, the central core shall hold the cloth in the corners more firmly and securely whereas fastenings shall work as true anchors. These plates shall be glued to the four corners of the cloth, that is to say to the table corners (see figure 2 ): in this way, by twisting the fastenings, anchors are obtained. Such a simple system shall lock the table in 8 points - 2 per side - thus preventing it from moving in any direction. As a matter of fact, in figure 3, that shows the table and the relative twisted plates ( from above), fastenings in positions 2 and 3 shall block the movement southwards as well as fastenings in positions 6 and 7 shall block the movement northwards, fastenings in positions 1 and 8 shall block the movement eastwards and finally fastenings in positions 4 and 5 shall block the movement westwards. Therefore, fastenings are actually true metallic slides that thanks to their pliability perfectly suit the border of the table easily and quickly. On the other hand thanks to their resistance they:

1. Block the table completely, thus avoiding any horizontal movement compared to the plane of the table;

2. Make the disposable cloth be very similar to the cotton cloth since the cloth wraps the border of the table in a natural way;

3. Allow to replace the cloth easily since they do not prevent it from moving perpendicular to the table.

[0015] As for item 2 in particular, when the locks are twisted they form an angle of about 90° compared to the plane of the table (see fig. 4 and 5), thus giving the natural effect of the cotton cloth. In this way the cloth is perfectly stable and uniform, thus combining the advantages of both disposable cloths and cotton cloths, such as:

1. Simple and rapid fastening: thanks to the pliability of the material used for the plates

2. Resistant fastening: thanks to the resistance to stress the material of the plates undergo

3. Aesthetic: the fastening is integrant part of the cloth and therefore the user do not see it.

4. Saving: it is not necessary to buy metal fastenings

5. Practicalness: cloth are rapidly replaced

[0016] Furthermore, since tables have standard sizes: 80x80 cm, 85x85 cm and 90x90 cm, the cloth is available only in size 110x110 cm. In this way plates will be arranged on the four corners of the squares of such sizes according to the positions shown in figure 6. Therefore, as for 80x80 cm tables plates are arranged on the four corners in position 1; for 85x85 cm tables plates are arranged in position 2 and finally for 90x90 cm tables plates are arranged in position 3.

[0017] Another important characteristic to remark is the border of the cloth (see figure 6) that besides being a decoration it also allows to highlight immediately the right position of the plates. To better understand the manufacturing and innovative details described above a prototipe very similar to the real one is enclosed with these documents. It is made up of:

1. Cellulose cloth similar to 45g/m2 similar to"blotting paper" with printed borders;

2. 0.1-mm thick aluminum plates

[0018] Such a prototype does not want of course be the solution for any possible association of materials and shapes that can be used both for cloths and plates but it can be a good example to understand the potentials of this simple and useful invention.

Claims

1. Disposable cloth provided with integrated fastenings that does not need external fastenings to block the table;

2. The fastening is made up of pliable and resistant plates situated in the inner surface and therefore the user does not see it;

3. The fastening that blocks the cloth in 8 points (figure 2) prevents it from moving parallel to the table but non perpendicular to it and therefore can be rapidly replaced.
