Technical Field
[0001] This invention relates to a mechanism frame providing slow closing for toilet covers.
Background Art
[0002] The mechanisms providing smooth closing of toilet covers have been manufactured for
many years. In the prior art, for slow closing of toilet covers, mechanisms and frames
hereof attached to the toilet have been well known. These mechanisms and/or frames
hereof are problematic owing to the fact that they contain many parts, have complex
structure, lead to bulkiness on the toilet, cause difficulties in assembling and maintenance
hereof.
[0003] In the prior art, hinge mounting member of slow closing damper is used which is applied
in industry and fitted on the toilet mounting holes separately and not connected to
each other with a frame member. This system is characterized by being suitable for
all kinds of toilets and toilet covers, but there is a mounting difficulty owing to
the fact that frame and damper recesses are not connected to each other.
[0004] In a further prior art, the hinge mounting member of slow closing damper is single-frame
wherein slow closing dampers are fixed into recesses by a claw coupling. However,
there is a mounting difficulty owing to the fact that plastic attachments coupled
into hinges of the slow closing are of single-piece. During assembly a single-piece
mounting member is pre-fitted on the damper and then attached to the hinge recesses.
However, due to this single-piece mounting member remains attached into the hinge
recess, it is very difficult to replace this part during disassembly. Even if slow
closing dampers are attached on the toilet cover, later has to be detached from the
toilet during disassembly entirely as it is.

that they have complex structure.
Object of the invention
[0006] The object of this invention is to provide required attachment in order to apply
slow closing damper system to existing toilet covers. It is aimed that by this attachment
slow closing damper hinge can be used on existing toilet covers without any modification
and easy assembly and disassembly possibility is provided. This object is achieved
with the features of claim 1. Patent application
US6421842 discloses a slow closing mechanism for toilet covers which is regarded as representing
the closest prior art with respect to the subject matter of claim 1. The subject matter
of claim 1 differs from this mechanism in that:
its the two feet for toilet mounting are slotted;
its frame is jointed as hollow rectangular parallelepiped and hollow half
cylinder;
its two slow closing dampers are made of an elastic polymeric material; and
a compressing member is capable of being placed between its damper
housings and compressing the slow closing dampers between the left and the right hinge
shafts with its end surfaces.

[0009] Invention relates to slow closing mechanism for toilet covers (A), a hinge frame
designed to make use of slow closing damper (7) in existing toilet covers of Vitra®
or other brand names. It is aimed that to ensure slow closing damper (7) supplied
from the market is seated in housings (5) and to prevent releasing from recesses hereof
unintentionally.
[0010] Slow closing mechanism (A) according to Figure 1 comprises left hinge shaft (1),
right hinge shaft (2), main frame (3) and slotted feet for toilet mounting (4) on
the main frame (3), damper housings (5), compressing member (6) and slow closing dampers
(7) (shown in Figure 2).
[0011] As shown in Figure 2, main frame (3) consists of two slotted feet for toilet mounting
(4) which attachment channels extend thereon, preferably a frame which is jointed
as hollow rectangular parallelepiped and hollow half cylinder, receiving gap (17)
for damper housings, hole (15) for the left hinge shaft on the left side and hole
(16) for the right hinge shaft on the right side.
[0012] Left hinge shaft (1) is of four-staged structure which consists of surface a (1a)
of the left hinge shaft in a cylindrical form, surface b (1 b) of the left hinge shaft
in a hexagonal form, surface c (1c) of the left hinge shaft in a cylindrical form
and surface d (1d) of the left hinge shaft in a cylindrical form.
[0013] Right hinge shaft (2) is of four-staged structure which consists of the surface a
(2a) of the right hinge shaft in a hexagonal form, surface b (2b) of the right hinge
shaft in a cylindrical form, surface c (2c) of the right hinge shaft in a cylindrical
form and surface d (2d) of the right hinge shaft in a cylindrical form.
[0014] Slow closing dampers (7) are made of an elastic polymeric material in a cylindrical
form.
[0015] Two damper housings (5) have a gap of semi-circle shape which slow closing dampers
(7) are secured tightly thereon, have a structure to be placed in receiving gap (17)
of damper housings (3) on the main frame.
[0016] Compressing member (6) as in Figures 2 and 3 is capable of being placed between damper
housings (5) attached to the main frame (3) and compressing slow closing dampers with
the end surfaces (6a, 6b) of the compressing member.
[0017] As shown in Figures 1 and 3, left hinge shaft (1) is attached to the main frame (3)
such that surface d (1d) of the left hinge shaft remains in the main frame (3) and
surfaces (1a, 1b, 1c) of the left hinge shaft protrude from the hole (15) for the
left hinge shaft. The diameter of the hole (15) for the left hinge shaft is smaller
than the diameter of surface d (1d) of the left hinge shaft and greater than the diameter
of the surfaces (1a, 1b, 1c) of the left hinge shaft. Right hinge shaft (2) is attached
to the main frame (3) such that surface d (2d) of the right hinge shaft remains in
the main frame (3) and surfaces (2a, 2b, 2c) of the right hinge shaft protrude from
the hole (16) of the right hinge shaft. The diameter of the hole (16) for the right
hinge shaft is smaller than the diameter of the surface d (2d) of the right hinge
shaft and greater than the diameter of surfaces (2a, 2b, 2c) of the right hinge shaft.
[0018] Mechanism in the main frame (3) as in Figure 2 is acquired when the slow closing
dampers (7) as in Figure 2 are seated tightly in damper housings (5) and in a situated
position through damper housings (5) as in Figure 3 by the capability of compressing
member (6) as in Figure 3 to be received between damper housings (5). Rotational movements
of left hinge shaft (1) and right hinge shaft (2) are slowed down by the capability
of end surfaces (6a, 6b) of compressing member to compress the slow closing dampers
(7) between the left and right hinge shafts (1, 2) in the main frame (3).
[0019] In smooth closing mechanism (A) as in Figure 4, right hinge arm (11) of the bottom
cover and left hinge arm (12) of the bottom cover are attached to the bottom cover
(14) of the toilet. Right hinge arm (11) of the bottom cover is attached to the surface
b (2b) of the right hinge shaft by
loose fitting. The left hinge arm (12) of the bottom cover is also attached to the surface b of
the left hinge shaft (1b). Since the hole where the left hinge arm (12) of the bottom
cover is attached to surface b (1b) of the left hinge shaft is hexagonal as surface
b (1b) of the left hinge shaft, bottom cover and the left hinge arm (14) have capability
to provide the rotational movement of the left hinge shaft (1). Consequently, bottom
cover (14) has a property of slow closing and opening.
[0020] In smooth closing mechanism (A) as in Figure 4, right hinge arm (10) of the top cover
and left hinge arm (13) of the top cover are attached to the top cover (8) of the
toilet. Right hinge arm (10) of the top cover is attached to the surface a (2a) of
the right hinge shaft. The left hinge arm (13) of the top cover is also attached to
the surface a (1 a) of the left hinge shaft (1b) by loose fitting Since the hole where
the right hinge arm (10) of the top cover is attached to surface a (1a) of the right
hinge shaft is hexagonal as surface a (1a) of the right hinge shaft, top cover (8)
and the right hinge arm (8) of the top cover have capability to provide a rotational
movement of the right hinge shaft (2). Consequently, top cover (8) has a property
of slow closing and opening.
[0021] The channels at the slotted feet for toilet mounting (4) on the main frame (3) as
in Figure 4 are used to secure the screws (9) on the toilet.
[0022] All modifications on this preferred slow closing mechanism (A) which fall within
the scope of the appended claims should be interpreted in the protection scope of
the invention.
1. Slow closing mechanism (A) for toilet covers comprising,
• a main frame (3), designed to make use of slow closing dampers (7) in existing toilet
covers, which consists of two slotted feet for toilet mounting (4) which attachment
channels extend thereon, preferably said frame which is jointed as hollow rectangular
parallelepiped and hollow half cylinder, receiving gap (17) for damper housings, hole
(15) for the left hinge shaft on the left side and hole (16) for the right hinge shaft
on the right side;
• screws (9) which are attached to the channels of the slotted feet for toilet mounting
(4) whereon and secured on the toilet;
• a left hinge shaft (1), having four-staged structure, which is attached to the main
frame (3) such that the surface d (1d) of the left hinge shaft, which is in cylindrical
form, remains in the main frame (3);
• a right hinge shaft (2), having four-staged structure, which is attached to the
main frame (3) such that the surface d (2d) of the right hinge shaft, which is in
cylindrical form, remaining in the main frame (3);
• two damper housings (5), which each one having a gap of semi-circle shape which
each slow closing damper (7) is secured tightly thereon, having a structure to be
placed in receiving gap (17) on the main frame;
• a compressing member (6);
• two slow closing dampers (7), made of an elastic polymeric material in a cylindrical
form, supplied from the market, which are seated in housings (5); whereby to provide
required attachment for slow closing damper hinge system being used on existing toilet
covers without any modification and with easy assembly and disassembly;
and also to slow down the rotational movements of left hinge shaft (1) and right hinge
shaft (2), said compressing member (6) is capable of being placed between damper housings
(5) attached to the main frame (3) and compressing, slow closing dampers between the
left and the right hinge shafts (1,2), with its end surfaces (6a, 6b).
2. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 1, wherein the surfaces a, b and c (1a,
1b, 1c) of the left hinge shaft protrude from the hole (15) of the left hinge shaft.
3. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 1, wherein the surfaces a, b and c (2a,
2b, 2c) of the right hinge shaft protrude from the hole (16) of the right hinge shaft.
4. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 2, wherein the surface a (1 a) of the
left hinge shaft is in a cylindrical form.
5. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 2, wherein the surface b (1b) of the
left hinge shaft is in a hexagonal form.
6. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 2, wherein the surface c (1c) of the
left hinge shaft is in a cylindrical form.
7. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 3, wherein the surface a (2a) of the
right hinge shaft is in a hexagonal form.
8. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 3, wherein the surface b (2b) of the
right hinge shaft is in a cylindrical form.
9. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 3, wherein the surface c (2c) of the
right hinge shaft is in a cylindrical form.
10. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 1, wherein the diameter of the hole
(15) of the left hinge shaft (1) is smaller than the diameter of the surface d (1d)
of the left hinge shaft and greater than the diameter of the surfaces a, b and c (1a,
1 b, 1 c) of the left hinge shaft.
11. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 1, wherein the diameter of the hole
(16) of the right hinge shaft is smaller than the diameter of the surface d (2d) of
the right hinge shaft and greater than the diameter of the surfaces a, b and c (2a,
2b, 2c) of the right hinge shaft.
12. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 1, wherein the right hinge arm (11)
of the bottom cover (14) for toilet is attached to the surface b (2b) of the right
hinge shaft by a loose fitting.
13. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 1, wherein the left hinge arm (12) of
the bottom cover (14) for toilet is attached to the surface b (1b) of the left hinge
shaft.
14. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 13, wherein the hole where the left
hinge arm (12) of the bottom cover (14) is attached to the surface b (1b) of the left
hinge shaft is hexagonal as the surface b (1b) of the left hinge shaft to provide
the rotational movement of the left hinge shaft (1).
15. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 1, wherein the right hinge arm (10)
of the top cover (8) for toilet is attached to the surface a (2a) of the right hinge
shaft.
16. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 1, wherein the left hinge arm (13) of
the top cover (8) for toilet is attached to the surface a (1a) of the left hinge shaft
by a loose fitting.
17. Slow closing mechanism (A) according to claim 15, wherein the hole where the right
hinge arm (10) of the top cover (8) is attached to the surface a (2a) of the right
hinge shaft is hexagonal as the surface a (2a) of the right hinge shaft; to provide
a rotational movement of the right hinge shaft (2).
1. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) für Toilettendeckel, Folgendes umfassend:
• einen Hauptrahmen (3), der dazu ausgelegt ist, langsam schließende Stoßdämpfer (7)
in bestehenden Toilettendeckeln zu nutzen, der aus zwei geschlitzten Füßen zur Toilettenmontage
(4) besteht, wobei sich Anbringungskanäle daran erstrecken, wobei der Rahmen vorzugsweise
als hohler rechteckiger parallelflacher und hohler halbzylindrischer Aufnahmespalt
(17) für Stoßdämpfergehäuse mit einer Öffnung (15) für die linke Gelenkwelle auf der
linken Seite, und einer Öffnung (16) für die rechte Gelenkwelle auf der rechten Seite,
gelenkig gelagert ist;
• Schrauben (9), die an den Kanälen der geschlitzten Füße zur Toilettenmontage (4)
daran angebracht und an der Toilette befestigt werden;
• eine linke Gelenkwelle (1) mit einem vierstufigen Aufbau, die so am Hauptrahmen
(3) befestigt ist, dass die Fläche d (1d) der linken Gelenkwelle, die in zylindrischer
Form vorliegt, im Hauptrahmen (3) verbleibt;
• eine rechte Gelenkwelle (2) mit einem vierstufigen Aufbau, die so am Hauptrahmen
(3) befestigt ist, dass die Fläche d (2d) der rechten Gelenkwelle, die in zylindrischer
Form vorliegt, im Hauptrahmen (3) verbleibt;
• zwei Stoßdämpfergehäuse (5), wobei jedes einen Spalt in Halbkreisform hat, wobei
jeder langsam schließende Stoßdämpfer (7), der einen im Aufnahmespalt (17) am Hauptrahmen
unterzubringenden Aufbau hat, fest daran angebracht ist;
• ein Kompressionsteil (6);
• zwei langsam schließende Stoßdämpfer (7), die in einer zylindrischen Form aus einem
handelsüblichen elastischen Polymermaterial hergestellt und in Gehäusen (5) gelagert
sind; wodurch die erforderliche Befestigung für das langsam schließende Stoßdämpfergelenksystem
bereitgestellt werden soll, das ohne Umbau und mit einfacher Montage und Demontage
an bestehenden Toilettendeckeln verwendet wird; und wodurch auch die Drehbewegungen
der linken Gelenkwelle (1) und der rechten Gelenkwelle (2) verlangsamt werden sollen,
wobei das Kompressionsteil (6) zwischen den am Hauptrahmen (3) befestigten Stoßdämpfergehäusen
(5) eingesetzt werden und mit seinen Stirnflächen (6a, 6b) langsam schließende Stoßdämpfer
zwischen der linken und rechten Gelenkwelle (1, 2) zusammendrücken kann.
2. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Flächen a, b und c
(1a, 1b, 1c) der linken Gelenkwelle aus der Öffnung (15) der linken Gelenkwelle vorstehen.
3. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Flächen a, b und c
(2a, 2b, 2c) der rechten Gelenkwelle aus der Öffnung (16) der rechten Gelenkwelle
vorstehen.
4. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Fläche a (1a) der
linken Gelenkwelle in einer zylindrischen Form vorliegt.
5. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Fläche b (1b) der
linken Gelenkwelle in einer hexagonalen Form vorliegt.
6. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Fläche c (1 c) der
linken Gelenkwelle in einer zylindrischen Form vorliegt.
7. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 3, wobei die Fläche a (2a) der
rechten Gelenkwelle in einer hexagonalen Form vorliegt.
8. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 3, wobei die Fläche b (2b) der
rechten Gelenkwelle in einer zylindrischen Form vorliegt.
9. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 3, wobei die Fläche c (2c) der
rechten Gelenkwelle in einer zylindrischen Form vorliegt.
10. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 1, wobei der Durchmesser der Öffnung
(15) der linken Gelenkwelle (1) kleiner ist als der Durchmesser der Fläche d (1 d)
der linken Gelenkwelle und größer als der Durchmesser der Flächen a, b und c (1a,
1b, 1c) der linken Gelenkwelle.
11. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 1, wobei der Durchmesser der Öffnung
(16) der rechten Gelenkwelle kleiner ist als der Durchmesser der Fläche d (2d) der
rechten Gelenkwelle und größer als der Durchmesser der Flächen a, b und c (2a, 2b,
2c) der rechten Gelenkwelle.
12. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 1, wobei der rechte Gelenkarm (11)
der Toilettenbrille (14) durch eine lose Passung an der Fläche b (2b) der rechten
Gelenkwelle angebracht ist.
13. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 1, wobei der linke Gelenkarm (12)
der Toilettenbrille (14) an der Fläche b (1 b) der linken Gelenkwelle angebracht ist.
14. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 13, wobei die Öffnung, an welcher
der linke Gelenkarm (12) der Brille (14) an der Fläche b (1b) der linken Gelenkwelle
angebracht ist, wie die Fläche b(1 b) der linken Gelenkwelle hexagonal ist, um die
Drehbewegung der linken Gelenkwelle (1) bereitzustellen.
15. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 1, wobei der rechte Gelenkarm (10)
des oberen Toilettendeckels (8) an der Fläche a (2a) der rechten Gelenkwelle angebracht
ist.
16. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 1, wobei der linke Gelenkarm (13)
des oberen Toilettendeckels (8) durch eine lose Passung an der Fläche a (1a) der linken
Gelenkwelle angebracht ist.
17. Langsam schließender Mechanismus (A) nach Anspruch 15, wobei die Öffnung, an welcher
der rechte Gelenkarm (10) des oberen Deckels (8) an der Fläche a (2a) der rechten
Gelenkwelle angebracht ist, wie die Fläche a (2a) der rechten Gelenkwelle hexagonal
ist, um eine Drehbewegung der rechten Gelenkwelle (2) bereitzustellen.
1. Mécanisme de fermeture lente (A) pour couvercles de cuvettes de WC comprenant :
- un cadre principal (3), conçu pour faire usage d'amortisseurs à fermeture lente
(7) dans les couvercles de cuvettes de WC existantes, qui est composé de deux pieds
rainurés pour le montage sur la cuvette de WC (4), sur lesquels s'étendent des rainures
de fixation, ledit cadre étant assemblé comme un parallélépipède rectangle creux et
un demi cylindre creux, présentant de préférence un évidement (17) pour les logements
d'amortisseurs, un trou (15) pour l'axe de l'abattant gauche sur le côté gauche, et
un trou (16) pour l'axe de l'abattant droit sur le côté droit ;
- des vis (9) qui sont attachées aux rainures des pieds rainurés pour le montage sur
la cuvette de WC (4) et fixées à la cuvette de WC ;
- un axe d'abattant gauche (1) ayant une structure à quatre niveaux, qui est attaché
au cadre principal (3) de telle sorte que la surface d (1d) de l'axe d'abattant gauche,
qui est de forme cylindrique, demeure dans le cadre principal (3) ;
- un axe d'abattant droit (2) ayant une structure à quatre niveaux, qui est attaché
au cadre principal (3) de telle sorte que la surface d (2d) de l'axe de battant droit,
qui est de forme cylindrique, demeure dans le cadre principal (3) ;
- deux logements d'amortisseurs (5), dont chacun présente un évidement en forme de
demi-cercle sur lequel chaque amortisseur à fermeture lente (7) est fermement fixé,
ayant une structure devant être placée dans un évidement de réception (17) sur le
cadre principal ;
- un élément de compression (6) ;
- deux amortisseurs à fermeture lente (7) faits d'un matériau élastique polymère de
forme cylindrique, disponible sur le marché, qui sont placés dans des logements (5),
ce par quoi l'on obtient :
- la fixation requise pour le système d'abattant à amortisseur à fermeture lente utilisable
sur des couvercles de cuvettes de toilette existantes sans aucune modification et
avec un assemblage et un démontage faciles ;
- et également le ralentissement des mouvements de pivotement de l'axe de l'abattant
gauche (1) et de l'axe de l'abattant droit (2), ledit élément de compression (6) pouvant
être placé entre des logements d'amortisseurs (5) attachés au cadre principal (3)
et comprimer les amortisseurs à fermeture lente entre les axes d'abattants gauche

surface d (1d) de l'axe de l'abattant gauche et plus grand que le diamètre des surfaces
a, b et c (1a, 1b, 1c) de l'axe de l'abattant gauche.
11. Mécanisme à fermeture lente (A) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le diamètre
du trou (16) de l'axe de l'abattant droit (1) est plus petit que le diamètre de la
surface d (2d) de l'axe de l'abattant droit et plus grand que le diamètre des surfaces
a, b et c (2a, 2b, 2c) de l'axe de l'abattant droit.
12. Mécanisme à fermeture lente (A) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le bras de l'abattant
droit (11) du couvercle inférieur (14) pour cuvette de WC est attaché à la surface
b (2b) de l'axe de l'abattant droit par un ajustement lâche.
13. Mécanisme à fermeture lente (A) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le bras de l'abattant
gauche (12) du couvercle inférieur (14) pour cuvette de WC est attaché à la surface
b (1 b) de l'axe de l'abattant gauche.
14. Mécanisme à fermeture lente (A) selon la revendication 13, dans lequel le trou par
lequel le bras de l'abattant gauche (12) du couvercle inférieur (14) est attaché à
la surface b (1b) de l'axe de l'abattant gauche est de forme hexagonale comme celle
de la surface b (1b) de l'axe de l'abattant gauche, de façon à permettre le mouvement
de pivotement de l'axe de l'abattant gauche (1).
15. Mécanisme à fermeture lente (A) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le bras de l'abattant
droit (10) du couvercle supérieur (8) pour cuvette de WC est attaché à la surface
a (2a) de l'axe de l'abattant droit.
16. Mécanisme à fermeture lente (A) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le bras de l'abattant
gauche (13) du couvercle supérieur (8) pour cuvette de WC est attaché à la surface
a (1a) de l'axe de l'abattant gauche par un ajustement lâche.
17. Mécanisme à fermeture lente (A) selon la revendication 15, dans lequel le trou par
lequel le bras de l'abattant droit (10) du couvercle supérieur (8) est attaché à la
surface a (2a) de l'axe de l'abattant droit est de forme hexagonale comme celle de
la surface a (2a) de l'axe de l'abattant droit, de façon à permettre un mouvement
de pivotement de l'axe de l'abattant droit (2).
